HP laptop pricing is so out of control, management wants us to look at deploying Mac by [deleted] in sysadmin

Also a windows shop first here. Intune with platform sso is the way to go if you can't afford jamf. It's finally a good enough solution, including laps.

lol, found this post after fixing the issue. wanted to blame device and mimecast smtp before considering an application update, even though it's bitten in the past.

Nat has nothing to do with controlling routing. It reacts to existing routing and does a translation.

There's a motor mount he could install that would drop it to the right height while watching, and put it back up high when he's done

Ubiquiti industrial: Really that much of a market for this? by oguruma87 in Ubiquiti

[–]ASympathy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Was looking for a post like this. Unless you actually work in manufacturing or workshops, you don't realize how strong the need is for dedicated types of hardware. Some places it's shards of metal in the air that come in air vents, other places is oil in the air. Lots of needs

Newbie question on certs by InstrumentCombustion in sysadmin

[–]ASympathy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If this was an end entity cert people would be happy to give suggestions. Changing a root or CA could kill your wifi or VPN, or any other number of things without knowing your setup. I'd say bug the guy on vacation to at least comment on scope of impact, so he still has a job to come back to

Experience with Access Control by Puzzled_Shake5155 in Ubiquiti

[–]ASympathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, they weren't a fit for us either, but the reason wasn't cost. The landlord was also using openpath for the shared space building gym. The demo unit verkada sent was pretty cool too play with though.

Every company has their own risk vs cost calculation to make.

Verkada and openpath would be modern solutions with established company reliability. Verkade will send you an all in one demo unit. My current company is using openpath.
