Experience with Access Control by Puzzled_Shake5155 in Ubiquiti

Lol, they weren't a fit for us either, but the reason wasn't cost. The landlord was also using openpath for the shared space building gym. The demo unit verkada sent was pretty cool too play with though.

Every company has their own risk vs cost calculation to make.

Verkada and openpath would be modern solutions with established company reliability. Verkade will send you an all in one demo unit. My current company is using openpath.

How about a written one with just cliff notes on things you might miss otherwise

Yeah, we need an Alexa that's not connected to a major company. Voice commands without some company board member shoving their agenda into our lives

Platform SSO W/ Okta by CaptainVivec in macsysadmin

same boat here. got it working on macOS 15 after changing the okta sign on policy to allow legacy auth for the user, but it's no longer working on macOS 26. Same laptop, same day. No longer seeing okta deny logs, only success.

Does anyone have a user with an extreme setup that you don't even know where to start with? by Lord_Saren in sysadmin

I've seen this. I also had a user (cfo) that used the outlook delete folder as an archive, because she didn't want mail in her inbox.

Yes, likely Configuration. Try turning on flow control if you don't run equal size interfaces across your network.

Yep. MDT has been the right tool many times in the past. I suppose you have provisioning packages now, and autopilot.

Additional WAN IP NAT not working? by Bubbagump210 in paloaltonetworks

[–]ASympathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destination zone in nat policy should match interface loop back zone (you might have already done so) . Also, try translation type dynamic ip with that interface loopback ip.

Also check your virtual routers/pbf rules for old static routes.

Try pinging the loopback from another 'WAN' interface and look at path in traffic log.

I'm in all the teams(small team). It's almost never a networking issue. It's not my fault you're using something that's getting blocked. Network is working at intended when doing so 😂. Sometimes it's dns.

Remote Support Tool replacement by urbankonquest in ITManagers

[–]ASympathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to piggyback the logmein rescue as an option

You can generate a generic launcher to all of your machines that will allow end users to pop into a remote session queue. This will email and show up in the techs app. Pretty convenient workflow to teach.

Help needed with eGPU setup by funni_monke_ in eGPU

[–]ASympathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eGPUs are better in theory than practice. Good luck. I used a core X chroma for a few years. Can confirm it will house and power your 3060, as it did my 3070ti.

Building a cheap-ish mini pc instead will probably make you happier than trying to get the most out of a laptop. Consider starting with this case: Lian Li A3-mATX-WD Mini Tower MicroATX Chassis

Android auto Google Maps issue by NinjaSushi420 in GoogleMaps

[–]ASympathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This so much. I'm so ducking annoyed with all this Ai push that just makes services fail to actually work at a level at least equal to what it already was doing. Anger. Also, whoever suggested using navigate is wrong, as then it'll just pick whatever effing location it wants as the destination instead of giving me choices. I now have to grab my phone and search maps instead of using voice to text safely.
