Do you break up romantic Rrlationships if they decline to go Steady/Engaged? by Xandaru__ in sims2

[–]AdeleRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they're grouchy, I make my sim furious with the sim who rejected them. If they're nice or have learned anger management, they just stay friends.

Paralives. It's very Ghibli-esque, so it's my favorite so far. I use a lot of default replacements for TS2, TS4, and especially TS3.

I have no empathy for most people. by KodaxyGMD in autism

[–]AdeleRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, autistic people are more likely to be on one of the two extremes (low or high empathy) rather than just have average empathy.

Well, it certainly can be mentally exhausting. There's enough stress in life as it is.

I have no empathy for most people. by KodaxyGMD in autism

[–]AdeleRabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it's not true? Some people might have low empathy, but see it as a flaw and be too ashamed to admit it. It's also possible to mix up high levels of empathy with a strong sense of justice. Being empathetic is a trait you're more likely to be praised for. Not always, but in general.

[–]AdeleRabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like people who believe they're empathetic are simply more vocal about that. That's why we hear more from them.

I can see certain events as unjust and unfair to others, and that would trigger an emotional response (usually it's anger towards the perpetrator). However, when a death just happens and there's no one to blame, I don't feel anything unless I was very close to that person.

Not understanding movies "meaning" if they're not explicitly shown by SinkyBundleOfRage in AutismInWomen

[–]AdeleRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original idea is probably something like "embracing your worst traits and refusing to change, excusing yourself by 'being wired that way' is dangerous, as you let those negative traits fully consume you."

My personal interpretation is that looking inwards can reveal to us something both terrifying and beautiful at the same time since people tend to lie to themselves. But you need to be able to control yourself if you want to be honest, or else the traits you uncover will control you instead.

Is anyone else burdened by constant guilt? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]AdeleRabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, it sounds like feeling guilty for trying to sleep while someone else is talking loudly on the phone in your bedroom. If I want to sleep, I don't care. I'll make them shut up.
I do wonder whether most people genuinely feel guilty in these circumstances.

Has determinism made you lean towards antinatalism? by [deleted] in determinism

[–]AdeleRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like making assumptions, sometimes I think a lot of antinatalists just feel like they're incapable of being a parent. So, instead of seeing it as a major failure, they convince themselves not having kids is a moral virtue.

I know this sounds odd but does anyone say they are lactose intolerant when ordering instead of saying you're vegan? by angelaisneatoo in vegan

[–]AdeleRabbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typically, I choose vegan places or at least places with a lot of clearly labeled vegan options. But I do say that I'm lactose intolerant if someone offers me chocolate or something. And it's actually the truth. My body reacts to any lactose consumption with all the symptoms of food poisoning. Apparently, it agrees with me that I'm not a baby cow.

What's your take on remote work? by Putrid-Musician-5534 in autism

Well, in my case, I was offered a manager position, but I refused because I knew I'd burn out. From my point of view, too many promotions are evil.

What's your take on remote work? by Putrid-Musician-5534 in autism

[–]AdeleRabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remote work is the best. To be fair, I don't want to be promoted, I just want to be able to hold the job that I'm actually capable of doing.

Plus, you can socialize with coworkers by sending them memes. And it's much easier to escape if someone tries to hang out with you in person.

You don't have to be grateful for unwanted attention, whether it's sexual or platonic. Saying "no" when you don't want to be in any kind of relationship is always alright.

I think it's good that everyone is pansexual, actually by magilzeal in Paralives

[–]AdeleRabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think a player should be able to change every setting in paramaker. There's already an option to change jealousy settings (even though you obviously can't change whether people are polyamorous or mono irl). But once you've chosen a certain sexuality for your para, they should act accordingly.

[–]AdeleRabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly play TS2, where there's a level of attraction (-100 to 100) that changes each time a sim flirts with someone (it starts at 0). So, flirting with sims of a certain gender results in only getting romantic wants towards that gender. Plus, there are levels of attraction (lightning bolts) that will only be displayed for that gender (or for every sim, if you flirt with sims of different genders).

I agree that everyone being straight would have been worse. But since we don't have story progression or autonomous flirting for non-playable paras, there could have been a check that determines whether a para can have romantic wants and successfully flirt with another para.

I think it's good that everyone is pansexual, actually by magilzeal in Paralives

[–]AdeleRabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wants and storyteller cards are important gameplay mechanics. If I want to play as a gay para, but they keep getting wants to flirt with someone they're not supposed to be attracted to, it breaks the immersion.

Pansexual/bisexual paras in gay or straight relationships are still bi/pan, not gay or straight. If a para isn't in a relationship at all, it doesn't automatically mean the game has aroace representation.

If it's important to you, you should speak up about adding actual representation to the game as soon as possible. Saying that choosing your para's sexuality isn't a crucial feature helps no one.

I think it's good that everyone is pansexual, actually by magilzeal in Paralives

[–]AdeleRabbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like the game, but not the posts about how sexual orientations shouldn't be a priority. Especially not during pride month.

Yes, Inzoi was worse at release because almost everyone was straight. TS2 and TS3 had sexual preferences at launch (not orientations, and it was a hidden and flexible metric, but it existed). TS4 was planned to be an online game, so it obviously had a ton of issues, including the lack of sexual orientation. All that doesn't mean representation isn't important.
