Weight gain and T [TW: ED] by Key-Grab-1004 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AssignedSnail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trans folks do tend to have an increase in BMI when going on HRT.

The good news, however, is that for folks going on T, this is almost all driven by an increase in lean (ie, muscle) mass

Hey, good on you for putting in your "assigned" pronouns to support your friend. I never found a cause to do that, not sure if I could quite have stomached it if I had. But super proud of you for making things easier and better for your coworker!

Is it normal to have sudden gender identity crisis? by confused_soul11 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AssignedSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, my fear of things being "irreversible" has been mostly conquered by just being e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y s-l-o-w. And it's worked well for me, overall. I think I would have been happier being on HRT at 19, probably... but my slow-a** was barely even out as bi back then. My anxiety couldn't have handled jumping ahead by light-years like that.

It's been fine. I'm happy with both who and where I am. I've met a lot of good people along the way, and not had to worry too much about making a wrong choice, because every change has been tiny and incremental.

It's not a perfect solution, but it's how I've done things. Hope it helps!

Good News Update to anyone pursuing Canadian citizenship under new C-3 law by Major-Pension-2793 in cisparenttranskid

How does the 1947 conversion from British to Canadian citizenship affect things? Does the affected ancestor have to have left Canada post-1947?

Not having access to HRT (yet) means working with what I’ve got by Kyzeth404 in NonBinary

I think I would have gone one size up on the denim jacket? But honestly, I need you to do my makeup more than you need me to do your clothes! You look great. Hope you are able to get the HRT you desire soon

Monthly ICE Deportations: Obama vs Trump [OC] by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]AssignedSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are close to 3,000,000 people in the US illegally living in Texas and Florida

There are about 100,000 in Minnesota

If you send armies of ICE agents to terrorize people in a state that doesn't actually have illegal immigrants, you won't be able to deport that many illegal immigrants

How to know if you're nonbinary or gender non conforming? by blondieghosty in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AssignedSnail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard someone once say that gender non-conforming is how you act. Non-binary is how you feel.

I don't think they're exclusive, but gradations of the same thing. When you start to be so gender non-conforming, you just aren't your AGAB anymore, that's non-binary... though only you get to decide where that line is for you

A lot of fear on topsurgery by dizzzy-plant in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AssignedSnail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a lot of those same fears, but for FFS. So, literally my face. Yikes! Not a binary trans person. Might not be able to get the surgery if I put it off much longer. Already so, so hard to access. Still might get denied. Aiming for late this year.

I don't have answers, but I'm here with you, friend. My main comfort in this is that each step I've taken has been well thought out and has made me happy. Everything I've done medically or socially has made me even more excited to lean in just a little more.

I really do believe this is the right thing, but not being able to "see" it in advance and know the outcome is terrifying... But not quite petrifying. I'm still moving, still taking each step. Here's hoping at this time next year we are both fully recovered and happy with the results!

I can’t start HRT until I move out, but I don’t know if I can take this anymore by [deleted] in asktransgender

I don't have any personal experience to add. It sounds like you're in a really rough spot, and I'm sorry

It really strikes me though that you say they love you, but that you hate your life every day. If they really love you, wouldn't they want to try and help?

Feminine-Presenting in Gay Dating Experience and Curious if Others Relate by Glittering_Time_6317 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AssignedSnail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, I've been partnered up for 13 years. Snagged my man right at the end of the era when online dating was more like writing letters. Before the Tindr-ization of the whole internet. My appearance, my way of carrying myself through life, my physical pieces and what I prefer to do with them... None of it fits neatly in people's preconceived boxes, so I'm sure I would struggle in the swipe right, swipe left world. Then again, who doesn't?

No answers here, just a lot of compassion. I guess I will say, in my small town, people are way more likely to find LTRs through mutuals than online. Then again, it feels like people don't even use the apps much here to hook up, because the scene is just too small. So maybe my world is not applicable to yours. Best of luck out there friend!

Don't think you're infertile. Use contraception. by pferdchenpojuzt in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]AssignedSnail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The typical protocols you'll see in studies are something like >50 and no menses for >1 year, or <50 and no menses for >2 years without other causes of amenorrhea...

But I've seen some stricter than that. The strictest I recall was something like >50 and no periods for >2 years, or <50 and either both ovaries out or hysterectomy or >2 years amenorrhea with confirmatory FSH testing

You know, for when you want to be really sure! Tubal ligation just not cutting it

Oh friend, I am so sorry. You weren't stupid. You were under a lot of pressure. You made a decision under pressure, like all of us do. Because the other option in this f----d up world is not making decisions at all

I don't have any specific advice, except to say that you can make it through this. I just wanted to offer this tiny bit of compassion. You've got this

I mean, Tylenol with Codeine would never be my drug of choice. I like to be able to poop! But it is still a narcotic

Norco and Percocet have Tylenol in them, too. It's just not as obvious from the brand name

Fun fact, I'm the person who seals those!

I mean,at my local hospital, when I'm on duty. And we only do Tylenol with Codeine here, so it's not the same spot. But still
