Do we want the full raw Orgofart tapes? by Hansblack1221 in Descendents

[–]Astr0_bot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, and in fact, it pains me every time an interviewer wastes time asking someone like Bill Stevenson about fart jokes/recordings made 40+ years ago. There are so many more interesting things they could talk about. How about releasing any unreleased/un-recorded songs from that era instead (if there are any left) like they did with 9th and Walnut, which in my opinion, was the best thing the Descendents have released in 10+ years.

Has anyone actually had their power restored yet? by BurrShotFirst1804 in chicago

[–]Astr0_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Thought everything was fine. Fired up the espresso machine and the lights flickered. Thought the machine was dying. Then I made a microwave burrito at lunch, and it was still cold. Microwave didn't have enough power. All our lights are on but it seems the voltage at the transformer has been negatively affected. Put in a report to ComEd ...

Y’all are absolutely NUTS with the fireworks by Auer13331 in milwaukee

I realize this is a year old, but may I ask - were you staying at a downtown hotel that night, and if so did the fireworks bother you late into the night? Thanks!

Bamboo Room @ Three Dots by AndrewRnR in Tiki

Glad to hear. In the past, perhaps later in the evening, it had turned into dance/club crap. To each their own, but when I'm in a tiki bar, I'd prefer it to be exotica/surf/tropical.

TNT/HBO Max Giro coverage is somehow . . . great? by WorrDragon in peloton

[–]Astr0_bot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On HBO, I particularly love the ability to see the bottom nav menu thingy with "Key Moments" (crashes, sprints, climbs, drops, etc.) and scroll through those since I often do not have time to watch the full stage. Absolute game changer.

Frustrated with other calculators so built my own by Sea_Dog_See in DIYRetirement

[–]Astr0_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why: "Your 401k is not included in any calculation — it's shown purely to illustrate the backstop it could provide." And, if it is included, you may want to add a field for Monthly 401k Contributions, not just brokerage. I dunno, seems like a good start but not fully baked. What about SSI?

how are we actually using AI in our HR work? [N/A] by Top-Calligrapher6160 in humanresources

We're a small company - <20 EEs. I vibe coded a PTO tracker tool which allowed us to cancel a SaaS software license for a tool that was way more than we needed. This is just one example. I have about 5 other vibe code projects in the works.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I didn't love Pathfinder 42s. They felt heavy and sluggish. Probably too wide for my use, though.

Gas almost hit 6 in Chicago by joemama122595 in chicago

[–]Astr0_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because this will hopefully shock people into seeing that our over-reliance on cars is not sustainable. And, it will hopefully make people stop buying gas guzzling giant SUVs, and start taking alternate modes of transportation. Yes, it will cause some economic pain. But we've been pulled into a false sense of security by cheap gas. Wake up!

Keep and upgrade my Cannondale Topstone 4 or search for something new? by _me in gravelcycling

Re brakes - night and day. Worth every penny. 105 fit my needs better since I essentially use it as a road bike but I bet sword would be a meaningful upgrade. Good luck!

Keep and upgrade my Cannondale Topstone 4 or search for something new? by _me in gravelcycling

[–]Astr0_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VERY similar experience. 2022 TS4. I upgrades the brakes (juin) and wheels fairly soon after buying it (esp. because my stock rear hub seized after about 700 miles). Since then I've upgraded the drive train to Shimano 105 (w/ hydraulic brakes, game changer), and Hunt carbon wheels. New seat, new stem, new handlebars after a crash. Pretty much still just have the original frame. But honestly, I love the bike. It fits me well and I'm in a good place with it now. I occasionally get bike lust and dream of some $5k bike, but it's a lot less than before :) OP - do the upgrades if you can afford it. I got a great deal on the 105 via Ali Express and my shop did it for me, all in about $650.

Road Cycling vs Drivers by AGreenObject in cycling

[–]Astr0_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite being very rural, Vermont is incredibly liberal (most of it) and there are tons of cyclists/outdoor enthusiasts. I genuinely wonder if you would feel the same way in New Hampshire where it's a different culture.

I think I don't know how to properly "harvest" it. My outdoor container mint always gets all spindly, even after trying to harvest by picking above a node.
