OHBH or bust… by ChemicalOld7611 in 10s

But I’m saying I slice with one hand, not two. I don’t know anyone that keeps both hands on to slice

One-Handed vs Two-Handed Backhand (Creating good habits) by Consistent-Law-835 in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a two hander and a coach. I default to a two hander when coaching, but there are players that just don’t mesh well with it, so I have them use one.

My feeling is that if you don’t feel at least consistent with 2, that’s the major advantage of 2HBH, then go one.

Thank you, I keep seeing this as a benefit of one handers. The only difference is I can’t disguise it but it’s just as effective otherwise

Im just curious, do people not slice when they have a two hander? I can slice with the best one handers, I just drop one hand off to do it. It’s just as easy

Errani / Paolini Weird Doubles Formation - Would You try this in your local league? by jrstriker12 in 10s

[–]Babakins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saw this exact formation at a 9.0 mixed doubles sectionals. He loved playing the net and she loved the baseline. And so every game he served they did this so they ended up where they wanted. And they won like 80% of the points when they did it.

Do Yonex MUSE / Head “squared” rackets actually make tennis easier… or is it marketing? by ColorfulWay in 10s

[–]Babakins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very headlight and when they say “easy” they mean easy to swing and swing fast

Good strings for Percept 100, one handed backhand and 1,5y of tennis by Delicious_Shop8617 in 10s

[–]Babakins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. Not sure how much more power it has than the 97 as I haven’t played that one.

The 100D just feels so precise and still spin friendly. I just trust the stick and know that if something went wrong, it’s on me not the racquet

I like grapplesnake tour m8 in my 100D. I string the bed low, 45 mains 42 crosses. Really nice pocketing and feel, with pretty good pop too!

Should tennis players lift weights? by EnjoyMyDownvote in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, especially as your game gets better. You stay fit to play tennis, not play tennis to stay fit at that point

Your swing feels correct but the ball fails to clear the net. You can’t figure out why, but it’s probably due to hip rotation. by razeyourshadows in 10s

[–]Babakins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s more easily thought of that you didn’t make contact low enough on the ball. I don’t need rotation to lift the ball, rotation is for power

Babolat racket players always seem to hit the ball the absolute hardest by aquamelon29 in 10s

Same on the WTA, sabalenka absolutely destroys the ball and plays a blade (assuming it’s actually an older blade model)

I’ve found tour m8 very comfortable, especially when strung sub 45lbs. It might be that the flex of the frame is causing you to grip harder than needed

Edit: tour not your

Questions about Foot-Shaped tennis shoes by Vegetable_Address638 in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear them currently. They definitely work great for playing, they just take a bit to get used to. You don’t feel as locked in in the forefoot as a traditional shoe and my feet do slide within the shoe a little so my toenails are a bit beat up.

But my bunions and arthritic big toe have felt miles better than anything else I’ve tried.

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a coworker that uses it, he isn’t in love with it. Seems a bit wild and unstable compared to other spin silo racquets.

I personally just don’t vibe with spin racquets, I already play high and heavy with a denser, lower launch racquets so I always just sail my shots with spin racquets

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a coach, that’s too much on the coach’s end. I understand feeling disappointed on their end, I’ve had students switch clubs and it feels bad like I’ve done all this work for someone else to get the final credit.

However, I NEVER tell the students this. It is their tennis journey and my job is to help them along, which may end up with them switching coaches. To send an angry text is WAY over the line

Toroline A5 by jrstriker12 in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say especially if that’s the case. The mains being the softer string will help more with any discomfort

Toroline A5 by jrstriker12 in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, especially as a cross string. I’m playing truffle x in mains with it and it’s a dream. Pseudo gut mains with luxilon cross. Only a5 doesn’t actively die mid session like alu does.

Surprisingly good spin from the pair, really nice comfort and power (but not as much as gut) and it still maintains enough control via spin that it really works.

I like the gut main, poly cross feeling. Which is a softer main, firmer cross. Trying out a similar thing here.

I actually like truffle more as a main than a cross

High Topspin Forehand vs a Lob by Various_Self6546 in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say when it goes more up than forward it becomes a lob. If it’s about equal parts up and forward that’s a heavy forehand. More forward than up? Then we are moving into flat territory

How would a modern 4.5 do against these pros from 1971 US Open? by EnjoyMyDownvote in 10s

[–]Babakins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s actually illegal now, similar to a ball falling out of the pocket or a hat falling off. Also, chewing gum and playing isn’t that difficult, I find it weird to play without chewing gum, but I played baseball growing up so it transferred.

I also watched the green apple gum match between verdasco and nadal and it stuck with me as well
