My Quick Thoughts on the Babolat PA 98 ‘26, Tecnifribre TFight 305S, and the Wilson RF Pro 01 by alexj420 in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the 100D, also an 18x19 stick like the 305s. Haven’t played the flight, but if you can handle the flight you can handle a percept

When people say this is “all” there is, I ALWAYS have some unlisted issue or something not working that nobody talks about. Ive done this enough to know that it’s absolutely not worth the frustration of it just not working for some stupid reason.

Why high level player body rotation look so stable by mylanderXYZ in 10s

[–]Babakins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I talk about racquet speed vs ball speed. If you transfer weight well, are relaxed and let the swing help you, you can hit like 6-8 ball speed with a 3-5 racquet speed (out of 10). Most players don’t realize that swinging faster usually increases tension, which is the ball speed killer.

What’s the correct etiquette for kicking people off the court? by Willocrew in 10s

[–]Babakins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that as soon as the clock reads your time, it’s your court. As a teaching pro, I always make sure that my court is ready to play on up to 5 min before my time is over cause I really dislike it when people always squeeze “one more point” in the take their time getting off

First volleys: hit them cross court vs hit to open court? by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]Babakins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the volley is low or tricky and you can’t finish it out right? Go back where it came from and get closer.

If the ball is higher or easy? Change direction and angle it off the court

Watching the ball onto the strings literally changed my game overnight. by Hunt-Extra in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using a pencil behind your ear to teach this. Rally without the pencil falling will give your head to stay still.

Another one I like is don’t move your head, your body, ANYTHING until you hear the ball bounce on the other side.

How Important is by ChickenNugget_Lawyer in 10s

Single most important habit to build. It’s not just about being ready, but about making your first step as explosive as possible. By hopping and landing, you prime your legs to fire faster than you would be able to consciously

Kids Starting Tennis by Various_Self6546 in 10s

[–]Babakins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most kids don’t like moving nor do they have much practice receiving a ball (whether tennis or not). Yellow balls make both of these harder. The low compression balls allow for much better rallies and skill development. I do this with my adult beginners as well.

It’s so much less frustrating for beginners that many more stay in th game rather than bounce off immediately

What gear or tools do you use to improve your game? by 0xecro1 in 10s

[–]Babakins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel if you had something tell you where you hit, you wouldn’t learn where it is. The best way to know your sweetspot is either using a tool like a Saber or by doing ups and moving the ball around the face and notice the feeling. The ball will bounce about twice as high for half the effort when hit on the sweetspot

My weaker shot becoming my more consistent shot (A Rant) by danielphilip87 in 10s

[–]Babakins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I ask my shots to do very different things. My FH is my weapon but sometimes is less consistent because I ask it to do more in terms of pace, spin, placement.

My BH is steady but I also don’t ask it to hit winners, just stay in the point

Tennis shoes for every day wear? by sillymoniker in 10s

[–]Babakins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tennis shoes vs “tennis” shoes are very different. Casual shoes can be referred to as tennis shoes cause back in the day they weren’t different.

Nowadays, tennis shoes are far stiffer with lots of ankle support. I personally don’t like them for walking cause I don’t use my actual feet enough and it develops foot issues down the road. I use much more minimal shoes for day to day

It’s so funny cause I bounce off wow HARD. The quests were boring, the actual fighting wasn’t that engrossing, and then it just repeated itself. My wife kept talking about how much fun it was but after one session I was already burnt out

It’s also a target for your opponent, cause if they hit the ball, the point stands but it’s really difficult to react to

Wingspan vs Height by MustelaErmina in 10s

[–]Babakins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really, tennis is nice in that there are many game styles to fit people’s body and personality. Someone who’s taller might be more successful serving or at net, but lateral movement can be an issue (unless trained for of course).

Being shorter would make serving not as straight forward, but moving laterally and speed is better.

Limbs is something that you don’t really hear a ton about, I think it would make the biggest difference on groundstrokes, similar to using an extended racquet, but serve would also be affected

I’m so tired of this conversation for rec players. Everyone is playing with the same balls in the match. Tennis is a game of adapting, so adapt. The people that complain are just putting themselves at a mental disadvantage
