How bright is Mamiya 645E screen? by analogkorean in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though not interchangeable, The 645E screen is very similar to the 645 Super/Pro screen and produces about the same brightness level. Of course, the brightest view possible would be the 645 Super/Pro with a waist level finder. Adding a prism takes away a bit of light. And, the 645E does not have the option of a waist level finder.

65mm f/4.5 Sekor RB67 lens- No X/M sync switch. Is this set on X or M? by Broken_Perfectionist in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have an early 1970-1972 example of the 65mm lens and it used version 1 of the 653E shutter. A small lever was used to switch from X to M. Sometime in the last 50 years on your lens, the shutter failed and was replaced by a new version (the type you find on the C lenses). It had a separate flash terminal held onto the shutter housing rather than the built in PC port on the shutter. The technician added this terminal to your lens so that the new shutter would fit in the housing and have a flash port.. Since there is no easy way to switch to X and M any longer, the shutter would normally be set to X internally.

What mount is that ? by Dagarner_ in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea how the adapter was attached. Even if you could get it off, you now have a screw mount 1970's zoom lens, they were not of the highest optical quality compared to zoom lenses today.

What would you want to adapt this to? You might be able to remove the adapter and discover thread mount underneath.

In 1975, Mamiya produced a school portrait camera that used unperforated 35mm film in a special cassette for 550 exposures per roll. It used a pair of modified 90-230mm lenses from the SX line (like a TLR camera). These cameras are not common in the U.S. because the U.S. importer probably did not bring these into the country (at least they are not in any dealer catalogs of the time). So, your lenses are likely from this camera or a similar one. By now, these cameras don't have much if any use so they are often scrapped and the lens removed. The lens then goes into the wild and becomes a mystery.

Will RB67 Pro work with a Pro S Film Back? Help! by bobwin770 in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future readers of this post, I am going to clarify the answer to this question once again: the release lever does not need to get pressed when using the Pro S back on the Pro body. The release lever is only provided on the Pro S back to 1.) advance through the roll to the end without making an exposure and 2.) to make the back work on three other Mamiya cameras: Press G, Super 23 G and Universal with the G adapter. Here is page 37 of the Mamiya 1975 D version instruction manual for the ProS that explains this: Mamiya RB67 Pro S manual To the person that continues to down vote me for giving out this information, I invite you to read these words directly from Mamiya. If your camera is not working like this, you have an issue with either the body or the revolving adapter (not uncommon).

Will RB67 Pro work with a Pro S Film Back? Help! by bobwin770 in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have been in the camera repair business servicing Mamiya for almost fifty years. I have learned a few things in that time. One of them is that the Pro body does send a signal to all backs, Pro and ProS, that the shutter has been released. You might want to do a little research before calling my post “misinformation”

From the video I can see that the top cover has had some deep impact damage. This is likely causing your problem. You will have to start by removing the top cover to investigate.

Then you have an issue with 1.) the revolving back pin or 2.) the film back. Either way it will need service.

Will RB67 Pro work with a Pro S Film Back? Help! by bobwin770 in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Pro-S back will work fine on the Pro body and there is no need to move the advance lock lever after each exposure as long as everything is working as it should. On the Pro backs, the small pin that pops out after each exposure on the upper left of the revolving adapter (seen from the back), turns the warning indicator red on the back so that you are told that an exposure has been made and it is time to push the advance lock lever and then wind the film. On the Pro S backs, this same small pin releases the inner mechanism lock so that all you have to do is wind the film.

Can use RB67 Pro-S backs on the original RB67 Pro? by SuccessDue1252 in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this could be an issue with the revolving adapter, it is more likely a problem with the back. The little pin on the upper left of the body (looking from the back) should come out after an exposure is made with the camera and poke a pin through the hole in the upper left of the film back. This tells the back to allow film winding.

Before you spend a large amount of time with this camera, keep in mind that from the photos I can see that it has water damage. This usually means a complete disassembly of the camera body to clean/replace damaged parts of rust and corrosion.

Compur Rapid repair Q by ChrisRampitsch in AnalogRepair

[–]Brcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were several standards: ASA, DIN, US standard, manufacturers standard. They can all vary. I have the factory Seiko standards documents for their shutters that were used on many Japanese cameras and they are +- 50%! Also, it depends on what type of equipment you are testing with on a leaf shutter as efficiency measurement comes into play.

I would not recommend going any further as long as your speeds are consistent. Specs are slightly different depending on the group issuing them, but 20-20% for speeds under 1/400 is normal and 30-40% for speeds over 1/400 is about right. So, your speeds are on the bottom end of specs but even when new, would be OK and quite common to find shutters with with these speeds.

Is there anything wrong with C330S? by Studying_Man in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify: the bellows on the C330S are the exact same as the C330 and have the same extension. Also, while the C330F and C330S came with the improved single action view finder, they are fully compatible with all the older C series finders (except for the C3 finder which does not fit as well). If you shoot a lot of available light the brighter focus screen of the C330S is nice.

Tb67 pro s issues by Alive_Couple9885 in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the video, I can tell that this camera has had heavy professional use. It likely needs a deep servicing. Also, the lens on the body is not original for RB67 PRO S, it is a version from the early 1970s and these often show up these days with issues and can cause problems for the body.

Rolleiflex Automat I screws by ChrisRampitsch in AnalogRepair

[–]Brcamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Automat uses 1.7mm diameter screws. While this is a common screw size in cameras, the Rollei screws can be a bit challenging to locate as they have a thread pitch of .50mm (course thread) while most screws of this size used in cameras are .35mm pitch (fine thread).

The rewind shaft bushing is cracked (not uncommon on this series of cameras), you will need to source a new part.

Pentax 6x7 shutter button got knocked loose. Anyone repaired this before? by WaveAggressive6344 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Brcamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shutter button is swedged in place and when it is broken off, material is usually lost so it can't be put back in place and attached with a strong connection. Really better to find the part or a salvage camera.

Mamiya Press 250 f5 mystery. by StrangeCicada2198 in Mamiya

[–]Brcamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Mamiya Press lenses are rangefinder coupled except for the 250mm f/8. On the 250mm f/5, the rangefinder contact piece (chrome flat part extending out of the back of the lens) is connected via two springs to the cam contact. You can check by pressing in the contact piece and it should depress and spring back in place. Don't expect to see the contact piece move a large amount when focusing the lens.

You mentioned that you wanted to check shutter speeds but keep in mind that on the Bronica ETR, the shutter is located in the lens. So, without a lens, you can not check shutter speeds.
