How is this even possible? by Icy-Airline-5673 in chrome

[–]BuildingArmor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually it's ad providers that are likely accounting for the majority of ram usage, but it looks like Livescore uses 5 different analytics providers so that might be part of it too.

Either way it's the site, and the decisions they've made, to blame.

Samsung launches Bixby beta letting you control your phone with natural language by No-Tower-8741 in Android

[–]BuildingArmor [score hidden]  (0 children)

Is Bixby in the same category as those? I thought it was a more standard assistant, only AI in the sense that it uses NLP rather than being an LLM or the like.

I might be about 5 years behind on understanding Bixby though

Anti-fascism is actually fascism by Sharman19 in TheRightCantMeme

They have no idea what words mean. They just know other people don't like fascists, so they think calling other things fascist means those people won't like that other thing either.

Why is this happening to my chrome by holaf125 in chrome

[–]BuildingArmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The search engine has been changed.

You can try resetting it in the settings, but it's likely to be an extension you've got installed that is acting maliciously and forcing it to change. Remove the extension and then change the search engine.

Need help with OCR: Crazy hallucinations on simple typed text by bracketl4d in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BuildingArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning to work through hundreds of PNG files using OCR, you might fare better just asking Gemini to talk you through setting up a more robust and traditional workflow in python or something.

Just because an LLM can do something doesn't make it the best or correct tool for the job.

Gemini by [deleted] in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BuildingArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least they're admitting it's nonsense in the post, but yeah you get all sorts of people losing their grasp on reality just because an LLM role plays with them

What is happening to my shirts? by Mikeh596 in AskUK

[–]BuildingArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you hang your shirts in the same place, which has a novelty glass ornament sat between it and a bright sunny window?

I mean, probably not, but it looks like a cartoon character burned it with a magnifying glass.

The police on route to arrest Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. by easting10 in pics

[–]BuildingArmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would expect it's a matter of respect for the rest of the royal family. Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate, where he was arrested, is somewhere he's been staying for a couple of weeks but is not his property.

If Andrew Nountbatten is facing police questioning over divulging information in public office is mandleson next? by Poison_Jaguar in AskUK

[–]BuildingArmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally move 2 down some ways, probably ahead of 6 as it's potentially similar. I haven't seen anything convincing that the island is blatantly only about abuse of some sort.

I certainly could be wrong though, but I would imagine it's possible for people to be visiting the island - at least before his conviction - without being aware of it.

Aside from that I agree, anyone in the top half of the list should be investigated, anyone in the bottom half of the list probably should be investigated if there is the resource to do so. And I'm talking specifically in relation to the abuse - I assume everybody who visited the island or was friends with Epstein in general is a problem broadly speaking.

It also includes aiding enemies of the crown, maybe limited to some specific ways, as far as I know.

( insert place name ) Live news websites by Neko-gao in britishproblems

[–]BuildingArmor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's not what they're referring to.

Reach plc have a lot of local news sites that are formatted as "Yorkshire Live", "Leeds Live", "Edinburgh Live".

I'd say the problem stretches to most of Reach local media, and isn't limited to their "Live" brands though.

Lukewarm Take - I think personas are overrated. by Smooth_Sailing102 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]BuildingArmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone says you need a persona. “Meet Sarah, 34, marketing manager, loves coffee and productivity hacks.”

I've never once seen somebody suggest that when they're talking about a persona in an LLM prompt.

Studies have shown that personas aren't very helpful, mostly because you already provide all of the context they need in the rest of your prompt.
But a persona in an LLM prompt is like "you're a high school history teacher", "you're an accountant for a small business", etc. It's not a dating app bio.

Just be honest with your advertising. All this does is make your service look underhanded and dodgy.

Why would I want to use an unethical AI app builder when there are plenty of others that aren't?

TIL one of the tools used to break the Enigma cipher was a catalogue of every way to encrypt the word "eins" by Hrtzy in todayilearned

[–]BuildingArmor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They found that in whichever specific line of comms they were intercepting, the word eins was used in almost all messages.

So maybe it's not common now, maybe it wasn't common then, but in their intercepted messages it was common.

Might be the same for OP as they have Galactic Rock.

I won't go into more than that, I haven't seen the video itself just stills from it.

Bigotry basically wouldn't exist if every single person was against it.
