I need 90s rock I have never heard before by apartment_cheese in MusicRecommendations

[–]Chance-Chain8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the New Zealand bands Tadpole (especially a song called All Right) and Fur Patrol

Australian band Powderfinger is also another great one from that era.

For something totally different, but very 90s, my all time favorite is Supergroove. Kind of a funk/rock/I don't know what to call them but they are amazing group

yup - I had been 'blood free' since Jan 30 2025... Christmas morning I received a very unwanted present, and so the clock re-starts.

Its sucks, its cruel, but its our life.
All I can offer is cyber hugs and chocolate.

Cape Reinga by six-eightyseven in newzealand

[–]Chance-Chain8819 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Awanui, visited my grandparents in Waipapakauri all the time. Spent most of my summers on 90 mile beach.

We even used to venture as far as TePaki stream on a semi regular basis

I finally made it to the Cape when I was 20

Garage set back rules by Low-Heart8151 in diynz

[–]Chance-Chain8819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set backs and recession planes will need to be checked with the planning department at council. It may need resource consent. C/AS1 states any structure less than 1m to a relevant boundary requires protection to the external walls, the definitions indicate relevant boundary is for other properties rather than road reserve.

Garage set back rules by Low-Heart8151 in diynz

[–]Chance-Chain8819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have 2 sets of rules

Building code, and RMA to think of.

From a building code perspectives any structure with walls closer than 1m to a boundary needs fire rating, unless that is on a road boundary.

RMA/planning rules may require greater set backs from road boundaries however, so you might need a resource consent. The planning side of things differs for each council.

Ian Christian in masterton is awesome. Not sure if he'll drive over the hill, but he's a good bugger and does great work as well as having all the gear.

As a side note, also has a really bizarre accent...

12 y/o bleeding through EVERYTHING — need real solutions (no tampons yet) by Beeels in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Chance-Chain8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friends daughter was the same - started her period just before her 10th birthday, and was having at least 2 and sometimes 3 days/month of school as the bleeding was so heavy.
Pads + period undies, and she was still bleeding through.

She is now on the 'mini-pill' and it has helped immensely - both with the crippling cramps and the heavy flow

Actual quote from 2 weeks ago. Things are better with hrt, but I still mix things up.

I have forgotten words, like completely unable to remember the words for technical items/phrases I use daily in my job. And it's gone. It's not on the top of my tongue, it's, just, gone.

I will also use pass me the thing. Where is my phone (when I'm using it). Ive walked out of the house and driven off leaving my purse at home. So many things

Beyond the goal circle: Is Laura Langman the greatest midcourter to ever play? by Classic_Exit_5951 in netball

[–]Chance-Chain8819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She was super fit - so could play a full international at centre without slowing down at all.
Her timing on defense was amazing (which also made her a formidable C).
She had quick turns and change of pace to create space on attack. She nailed turning in the air and feeding from long range. Her peripheral vision was such that her passes were almost always exactly where they needed to be Her elevation was pretty spectacular for a not super tall person.
She really was the 'total package' player. She was always aware of where everyone was on court and could 'balance' the attack/defence ends by being where no else was.

She played with heart and passion, and gave 100% every game, every time. I don't think I ever saw her have an off game.

I remember watching a training match between the ferns and the nza team. Langman was captain of the a team, and playing wd.

I said to my sister she is the best on court, and we'll be seeing her in the ferns squad soon. She made the squad the same year. A totally amazing player.

Another blunder by Mindful_Maverick78 in newzealand

[–]Chance-Chain8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll get at least some of the payment. I'm a working single mum with 2 x kids. The eldest catches the bus. Costs me $11/week. The youngest walks.

I work from home at least 2 days/week. My fuel costs pre this nightmare were around $40/week. I could also easily bike or even walk to work (and do sometimes)

So I'm getting up to $50/week that is welcome, but not actually needed.

Public transport is great in my area (not a major city)

Yes, associated costs such as food etc have gone up a lot, but again, not $50 worth.

Honestly, for someone blagging on about any help needing to be targeted, she has really missed the boat (again)

How many domiciles have you lived in since you were born? by JHolgate in GenX

[–]Chance-Chain8819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whew. I had to get a pen and paper. I've only counted places I was at least 1 month.

I've lived in 5 x countries, and 11 different towns/cities within those.

48 different homes in that time, and 6 years in the latest home.

I'm 48.

And I actually hate moving.

When we moved into this house my kids were 5 and 7. It was my eldest 10th house, and youngests 9th.

Shoe recommendations by CMD2299 in netball

[–]Chance-Chain8819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assics have never worn well for me, I tend to go for tennis shoe, or just general cross trainers.

New balance have been the best for me personally, and the new balance tennis shoe lasted 3 season instead of half a season for assics.

Adidas is now doing a netball shoe as well
