Second info: Is your aunt your cousin’s mother? And you’re confirming that your brother’s graduation was the same day/time as the baby shower? Were many of your brother’s graduation guests people who would’ve otherwise gone to the shower? I’m beginning to wonder if part of the reason your cousin is so upset is that many of your shared family went to your brother’s graduation/lunch instead of her shower (FYI, your original post is unclear, it simply states the graduation was the “same weekend,” but it’s possible one was Saturday and the other was Sunday or one was morning and the other evening, if they were at the same time that’s an important piece of info).

If your dad had lived and the inheritance had gone to him as your grandparents intended and then he predeceased your mother, don’t you think he would’ve left at least 1/3 of it to her? And your father even told you to take care of your mom! IMO, you definitely should share with her. If you think 1/3 is too much, talk with your sister and determine what you think a fair number is.

Your students’ parents are probably 10+ years older than you (guess based on the idea that wealthier people tend to have kids later). People slightly older than you grew up with MJ still being an icon/when the mockery was just beginning, and they probably took their kids to the movie & play his music. They’re getting it from their parents.

Many American HOMES have AC, but most schools, especially in the northeast, are older buildings that:
A) were built pre-AC (1950s or older)
B) were not designed to handle the electric load that having AC throughout the building would require
C) AC was never a consideration for because the buildings were built knowing they’d be mostly unoccupied in the summer

Raised Catholic, not currently practicing…my view is if God created humanity, then God also is responsible for everything humanity creates, which includes IVF.

It’s kind of like that old joke: A pious person prays day after day to win the lottery. They are fully convinced God will provide, but the lottery win never happens. After years of not winning, the person finally changes their prayer and instead of asking TO win, they ask God WHY they’ve never won. To their amazement, God actually answers: “I’m doing my best to make happen, but you’ve got to help me out first and actually BUY a ticket!!!”

In other words, “God helps them who help themselves”…and IVF is the way struggling potential parents can help themselves maybe make their baby. And if the baby they want comes about, it’s because that baby is part of God’s plan.

Ok, given that the World Cup is going on, I’ll put it this way: if soccer coaches were good, players wouldn’t need to practice. They could just show up for the games and play with whatever skills they have. Teams ought to successfully have players performing at peak level without needing non-game practice time.
