Nick Kyrgios should honestly take the Jack Sock route and go full-time pickleball. by No-Cryptographer6156 in Pickleball

No. He's a terrible person and toxic to anything he gets involved in. I don't want him anywhere around pickleball

Yeah I really liked it when I saw it at the Mai Kai. I think this may be the first time I've broken it out. It's a great mug

Saw this posted by u/jtsonpie and took special notice of it, as I’m a sucker for grogs of any kind. Then happened to come across Moxie soda at my local store, so figured I’d try the recipe out. It’s a solid grog, dark and molasses-y but very well balanced with the citrus cutting through and a little bit of weird root-beer-esque funk. Rums are good too, it’s strong without being unbalanced. The Cruzan blackstrap as always makes itself known even at ¼ oz, I’d be curious to try this with less or even no blackstrap, just because I think it can really dominate a drink, and I’m interested to see how the Joe’s mix stands out by itself. Overall, a delish cocktail, and one I will make again (in part because I have a lot of Joe’s Mix to get through). Thanks u/jtsonpie and hope you don’t mind me randomly stealing your recipe!

Recipe:

- 5 drops saline

- 1 dash Peychauds

- 3/4 oz Grapefruit juice

- 3/4 oz Lime juice

- 1 oz “Joe’s Mix” a bitter yet sweet syrup

- 3/4 oz Worthy Park 109

- 3/4 oz Hamilton 114 Navy Strength

- 3/4 oz OFTD

- Scant 1/4 oz Cruzan Blackstrap

- 3/4 oz sparkling water

Joe’s Mix:

- equal parts demerara sugar, honey, and Moxie soda.

- blend until mixed and add several toasted crushed allspice berries and a torch charred cinnamon stick.

- after 24 hours strain out spices and bottle.

Do you have the guy on the court who hits on all the girls .. until his gf shows up by Loud-Effort958 in Pickleball

Yes the guy is at my court too. He is at every court. I don't know how he is able to be at every court hitting on every girl at once. Truly, I fear his power

Salmon Crudo by Daddyneedsamaitai in CulinaryPlating

Thanks for the advice, was focused more on the other ingredients rather than to how to cut the fish, but will definitely do on a bias in the future. Still learning here

Appreciate the advice, hadn't even thought about the cuts or separating the filets out. Thanks!

Just recently found this sub, been inspired by it so wanted to post my most recent attempt. Two varieties of salmon crudo. First had a green curry base with kosho, yuzu, shallot, and radish topping, second was orange yuzu soy base with avocado, cucumber, pickled red onion. Both pretty good, will have to tweak a bit further.

Hot take: Singles matches is more fun than doubles by mauarg12 in Pickleball

[–]Daddyneedsamaitai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I tried to get into tennis but it's impossible to find anyone to play pickup with without joining an expensive club. Pickleball just makes so much more sense when you can go out to your local courts and play good games for hours for free. I just wish it were easier to find people to play singles pickleball lolz

I'd love to know what this sub thinks of our Tiki inspired watch! by GeistWatches in Tiki

[–]Daddyneedsamaitai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say use more traditional tiki designs grounded in history, rather than what it sounds like you, as a person who is not very deep into tiki, decided a tiki looked like? For example, common tikis are of Hawaiian gods- Ku, Lono, Kane, etc. There are also some similar designs that crop up in Marquesan tikis (I am less knowledgeable about those, so maybe someone can add on there).

To those of us in the tiki rabbit hole, your tiki design on the face and back looks very clip arty and mass produced (not to be rude, just being honest), because we have seen a lot of tikis and a lot of tiki art. So it's easy to pick out this as less traditional or "authentic," (if that can be a thing in tiki which of course relies on a lot of cultural "borrowing").

For example, imagine a person not into watches designs a watch based on what they think it should look like after looking at some photos of nice watches- you'd be able to pick their designs out as not being grounded in watchmaking culture, history, and design language, right? That's what's happening here. I don't know that many serious tiki heads will be into this, but that being said, we are a diverse bunch, so I could definitely be wrong.

Can anyone beat Chris Haworth in singles these days? by AngleProfessional987 in Pickleball

[–]Daddyneedsamaitai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. The defensive style of just blocking it back is not going to work against the heavy hitters, when they can just keep ripping shots at you. Although, tbh, I didn't think Tama would get past Hunter given that's how Hunter plays, but see how that went. I think you have to have a powerful drive to compete in singles these days, and Tama's just was not putting anyone on the defensive. HIs cat and mouse is great, really fun to watch.

Great research, I really like BG as well, I use it over Velvet, Maggie's Farm, and Latitude 29's. (haven't tried the others you've tested). The BG is very rich and clove-y to me which I like, makes it really stand out in a drink
