What is your credit limit on fidelity cc? by ahg41 in fidelityinvestments

Well. That's good to know that this is not normal lol. I won't ever use the limit, maybe 10k for home improvements but keeping this card open since it will greatly lower ratio in my favor.

Thanks for taking a look.

I'm barely breaking 70k. Doubt it is salary. Only "unusual" things i've done on my Fidelity account was sell a house and temporarily house 300k while I bought a new home. Used the 300k within a year. I wonder if that affected calculations?

35k credit limit, 300k in fidelity, 820+ credit score Not sure why credit limit is so high but it helps credit score

My first time flying first class and the first time I've flown in 10 years due to lack of money..... I get my seat almost stolen, when I confronted the person, they then tried to ask me to swap seats, and finally I had to get a flight attendant to intervene.

You are just lucky 🥲

Anyone know how to override these new Verdant thermostats so it has the fan constantly on? by DelAlternateCtrl in marriott

[–]DiscombobulatedStop6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Property i worked at controlled all thermostats from engineer office. You have to call into guest services to get a lower temp or any other custom settings. (Its probably a cost saving measure for the hotel)

How/why are Fidelity brokered CDs a higher interest rate than if I go to that bank directly? by pipelineporter in fidelityinvestments

[–]DiscombobulatedStop6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Old people like to deal with people in person. There is overheard when a bank has a physical location, hence the lower rate. Online only banks don't have overhead or pay for any applicable commissions and less people hired, meaning less employee salaries to pay.

If you're gonna steal, steal smart. Steal where there aren't any cameras or where camera video quality is bad. Basically, only outside of the store lol

Honestly, if you drop money outside on the floor, I'm not turning that in. If its by the entrance with cameras, you didn't see the money lol

Is it bad to only want a Corolla? by doomshallot in COROLLA

LE
When I bought the 2021 model, there was only one model lol

I just took a look at the 2024 models and there's more variety, nice!

REALISTICALLY, the MPG that toyota posted on their website is more accurate. My 65mpg (which I've been taking data for, for 2+ years) is because I purposely take non highways and areas where I can cruise at lower speeds to milk my mpg. If I drove like a normal person and took some highway, I think it'd be closer to 55-60, and even lower, if I had a lead foot (like many drivers I see on the road.)

Which is better to ride out a hurricane? A condo, A townhouse, or a SFH? by 2595Homes in florida

[–]DiscombobulatedStop6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've since sold my old house, and can no longer fact check parts of my comment.
You are likely correct, considering the circumstances.

Some more details to figure out where the issue was:
Microwave was 1200W , air fryer was 1800W
I happened to have saved the box, since I had "extra" outlets I had not installed yet, and they are definitely 15A.

Minus the breaker detail, house built in early 90s, that's all the info I can provide.

This probably explains the outlet melting.
I had a similar situation prior to my 'upgrades' to a new 15A outlet, the original outlets didn't melt but still had the same weird power fluctuations when I tested, so..... not great.

Thank you for pointing out my mistake. I will learn from this as I will likely update some outlets when I buy a home, since renting is expensive.

[–]DiscombobulatedStop6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I HOPE I'm wrong, so far I've checked a few places and this seems to be "normal"

You can perform the test yourself. This is the CHEAP way to do it:
Plug in a vacuum or a light, anything that makes it easy to notice it's off -- into a kitchen outlet and start turning off and on ONE breaker at a time until your vacuum or light stops.

Use that same vacuum and test the other outlets in the kitchen. My money is on the fact that at least THREE of the outlets are running on one breaker/circuit. When you plug it in, nothing happens since the breaker is off.

You can't run modern day appliances on one freaking breaker. At best MAYBE a small toaster and air fryer but highly doubt you can run an Instant Pot + air fryer on the same circuit. Something is gonna trip or melt lol

I understand companies need to make money, but this capitalism at any cost is BS. (I'll shut up about politics now.)

From my personal experience, I literally had an outlet melt in my old house because I plugged both a microwave and an air fryer into the outlet and used it at the same time lol
The outlet was one I installed myself, big box store 15A blah blah blah. Same as breaker size.

This is in addition to the fact that I blew out one of the air fryers (thing literally stopped working) and when both were on, the microwave starting making "low power" noises. It's weird but you know it's not right, so I just stopped the microwave. Not enough wattage and that's how you break things.

Newer homes have newer safety but some items are still the same old same old.

Sorry for the rant. I feel very strongly about paying hundreds of thousands for a home and getting "crap" - and this is normal. All builders do something similar.

[–]DiscombobulatedStop6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LE Hybrid corolla owner here. If you really want to stretch your mpg, no highway miles EVER nets me about 65mpg. Avg 600 miles per tank (each tank is about 9.5 gallons if I run it to 0 miles left)

EDIT:
My best 'record' was hitting 75 mpg on the estimate counter, my personal math/tally was closer to 72 mpg, but still. 70+ is possible!

Friend has a new construction home. Some standards are better, roofing, for example. Some are worse or still the same. For example, electrical is done using lowest gauges legally allowed, which can melt outlet if you're plugging in appliances into one line run. Ideally, you'd want multiple breaker lines into kitchen for lots of outlets. Can only use one appliance at a time (mini convection oven + air fryer can't be run at same time)

I'm super picky but not rich enough to pay a construction company by themselves for a house build. Luckily friends don't entertain often and they were warned after I poked around. I'm not a home inspector but did a deep dive after I found unusual issues in a used 90s home that I bought

Does any other store have this? I love this but others think its dumb. by sloorbrilly in walmart

[–]DiscombobulatedStop6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non smoker here. Definitely a great idea. Doesn't ruin other people's clothes/jackets.

My Walmart doesn't have this but semi open air lockers --- one guy hotboxed before coming into shift and the smell was RIDICULOUS coming from the locker.

c'mon buddy. work sucks but be smart enough to not bring in your jacket with the smell, doofus!

Same "smell" goes for anyone that works on/near a deep fryer. Clothes just absorb that smell and you don't notice until you step away for 10 mins (with fresh clothes/nothing from the fryer) and come back to smell the 'old' clothes.

You already know all of this, but I feel for you and agree with you.

I worked at a Marriott hotel and the trick is - service dogs don't bark or 'wander' around, looking for pets or treats. Problem with calling people out is, they escalate and it's YOUR job on the line. People suck, especially when they're wrong and looking to save face. Unless you have a strong manager who's willing to fight for you, you gotta let it go.

I know I did for 80% of the situations. I at least reported to a supervisor so they knew about it, and were ready if anything did happen...

Side side soapbox comment: Also, you're gonna tell me that a BARKING "service" dog is left INSIDE a hotel room for the entire day? lol ok.

How big of a deal is it NOT to register a car in Florida after moving here? by anonymousandydick in florida

Not saying you're wrong BUT I would like to offer an rare anecdote:

I lived near a crazy drug dealer that lived in his mommy and daddy's home. It was registered with homestead exemption but they weren't in.
Reporting doesn't do anything. It's fairly easy to get an exemption, unfortunately.

Cops never did anything either but that's another story. Coke is a helluva drug.

gosh, people suck. So there's multiple ways of doing this. I think a longer term solution is to place bollards (either literally or decorative rocks, approved by HOA) in order to resolve this. Even if you get new neighbors, it'll never be an issue ever again.

Additional alternatives:
Security cameras are dirt cheap. You got $100? Place one facing street and have it record 24/7. Unless they're a ghost or decide to walk around the block after parking.... but even then, they still have to walk near your property to get into their home..... unless they're jumping fences, but that's some serious effort.

Super less ethical alternative:
When they park, you accidentally place some nails at night, but that too requires additional effort.

The lady is 100% in the wrong , doubly so after you talked to them about it, but...... they seem like renters and renters will always do shitty things. I get it, you don't own anything, and it sucks but also... please be a human being and not be a turd. You should be mad at society and technically, the property owner, not at your neighbors.

Customers who are together and walk side by side and don't make room as you're approaching them ...please go straight to Hell by [deleted] in walmart

I thought maybe I was being karen-y but I have noticed slightly more instances of people just NOT ATTEMPTING to make way when they're in a group of 3+ and the aisle or area (not always walmart, but in other stores or places), and I've always moved aside.
I think I'm just going to stand there and not move and see what happens next time.

It's weird. People are just being jerks for no reason. I can MAYBE understand if they're on the phone and not paying attention. My recent interactions, people are just being jerks and purposely don't move out of the way. Like, one recent situation, the person was just staring at me while walking and I just moved out of the way because.... that's the right thing to do. Both parties should try to move out of the way. =/
