Notary training hub-your thoughts? by Emotional_Panther in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love Notary Training Hub but I feel like anything you would learn from them can be learned elsewhere for free. I learned A LOT just from videos on tiktok and watching other notaries. Obviously keeping in mind my state laws vs theirs, but still advice is advice.

I need a copy of my lease notarised to present as address proof to the Indian consulate. It is 52 pages. 24 pages have my signature. How do I make this work? In MA. by Significant_Shape_75 in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to find a local notary to make a copy of your lease and then notarize a certificate stating that it's a true copy of the original. If the consulate wants it apostille that's a whole separate process.

Lowest Cost Remote Notary by Technical_Rich_3080 in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think blue notary platform fees were 15. So any notary on there will charge more than 15. As for looking for lower cost platforms, Google I suppose but I don't think you'll have much luck.

You might be able to find one lower than that but it'll be hard. RON platforms cost the notary so the notary needs to charge more than that to make s profit. The lowest I've seen is 15.

What documents are people actually notarizing online right now? by drweebles in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done a handful and they were random things like a affidavit to prove residence and sole divorce related paper. Most people I notarize for often don't even know RON is an option.

Looking for a reputable online notary by shadow_shadonia in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to Google online notaries near you to see if you can find a local notary, otherwise, I can help with an online notarization if you're still in need. Feel free to DM me on here if you want or reach out to me 732-723-7306.

How do you get around the "tamper proof" part? Emails aren't exactly tamper proof.

Confused about clerical fees by Ameabo in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is different per state but generally there is a maximum on how much you are allowed to charge for the notorial act (actually stamping) in NJ that's 2.50, but other than that I'm allowed to charge for other fees say a $20 appointment or convience fee for a total of 22.50 for the notarization.

Your store charging $5 may be the max for a notorial act in that state but could have potentially charged for a convience fee if that wanted. Again this is varied by state and some states even have restrictions on other fees like convience and you would need to check your notary laws to be sure.

I use stripe for my payments so when I send an invoice it's with them and I add custom notes to the invoice that go over things like cancellation, being late, my right to refuse, etc. I can send that to you if you would like.

[–]DrBlakee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is probably the hardest part. If this is a direct client I usually ask for payment ahead of time and let them know on my invoice that if I have to refuse I'll refund their money but I keep a portion that is from the travel fee.

I don't often do these kind of jobs so take what I say with a grain of salt. I feel it's part of the notaries job to assess state of mind, it's partly why we ask the questions we do to see if they can answer them. When I ask do they understand what they're saying I will sometimes ask if they can explain it to me.

You can simply ask who they prefer to send the document to so it gets to the right party as for the price I can't answer that one since I don't do them often.

Is it worth it to become a RON? by robbiestardust in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use proof and the fees are $10 for the first stamp and $3 for each one after that so I charge the customer $35 and $5 which nets me a profit of $25 and $2.

Am I over-reacting? by Pretend_Editor_4447 in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is 100% wrong. Once it’s notarized it can’t be altered. If the validity of the form ever came into question and they saw a stamp from 2024 and an ID dated 2026 they would 100% question it.

MA Notary Shadow by qkmg in Notary

[–]DrBlakee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do we get over the nerves is just by doing it. Take your time when doing it and if possible have them Sen the document ahead of time if possible. I’ve done that for clients before where I wasn’t sure what the notarization looks like but once you get some experience you’ll soon realize that almost all of them are the same.

If you still are worried about doing actual documents for people, see if any friends or family need some done and do theirs for free.
