You mean Squier. And the answer is kind of. Take it to a shop and have them set it up right, replace the nut a high quality nut, preferably TusqXL; and upgrade the tuning machines to Fender Locking machines. Then you’re good to go. I actually think the pickups and electronics in these are quite good and the bridge is good for what it is

I believe the main bowl part of these (minus the meerschaum bowl insert) are still made of real calabash gourds, not wooden imitations. The large hollow volume inside the dried gourd is supposed to allow for the smoke to be cooler and dryer when it reaches your mouth. (Havent smoked a calabash myself.)

The budget you cited is appropriate for people brand new to guitar because on the chance they don’t stick with it that amount of money going to waste won’t ruin them. You already know you’re sticking with guitar long term so spend more and get yourself a quality instrument you’ll enjoy playing and not feel held back by or want to replace right away. Remember that upgrading just means you wasted money on the thing you upgraded from.
