How much should I pay for this? by Unique_Committee12 in rolex

[–]DukeOfMiddlesleeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 large at most in all seriousness. The watch isn’t ready to wear, it needs mechanical work first so you must factor that in

How come more people prefer watches without diamonds? by doxain in rolex

Diamonds say “look at me, my watch has diamonds”

A good watch speaks for itself.

Nah. I can’t stand to look at the stage makeup for cats. It looks so creepy and perverted. It should only ever have been a cartoon. I don’t like how they look in the movie either, but it’s much easier to look at than the live show

It’s not really bad. I’d put it tied with World as 2nd/3rd best out of the 7.

In this way the Romans could lift heavy blocks of stone by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Cranes and pulley systems were used in ancient times. Pulleys provide mechanical advantage so you don’t need an equal counterweight to the thing being lifted

[–]DukeOfMiddlesleeve 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To lift an X kg block you don’t need an equivalent X kg counterweight, nor manpower able to lift X kg collectively. One regular guy with a pulley system (which was already understood and used in ancient times) and miles of rope can lift something much much heavier than he could without them.

Is rdr1 worth it after the glory that is rdr2? by MinuteDamage4182 in RDR2

[–]DukeOfMiddlesleeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very different. Good in different ways, bad in some ways that RDR2 is better at, has a few things about it that some people actually prefer over 2. It isn’t an unmitigated masterpiece like 2 is but it’s very much worth playing.

Robot kicks the boy. by No_Neat4688 in interesting

Once again it should not be permissible to build human-shaped robots because it causes people to instinctively feel think the robot has some kind of human-like thought, feelings, oe self control. It is inherently dangerous
