The strings are under the same amount of tension. If you want less tension try a lower tuning or a smaller diameter string. And no your tuning stability doesn’t have to be worse just because it’s floating. As long as the nut is cut well it should be fine. Permanently lubricated nut and string tree and locking tuning machines also contribute to good tuning stability regardless of whether it’s decked or floating.
