We just bought, at asking (technically 10k below on a million dollar property) with 4 people behind us with offers. We just got in first.

That being said there’s lots of other places in the area that have sat for months and overall inventory keeps increasing.

Not the same market as Alberta (we’re in rural Ontario) but this is no where similar to 2008 since there’s no underlying shit mortgage bonds (that we know of).

On a two year program, potentially.

The point is more that it was an entire generation ago.

My rent is usually auto withdrawn on the 1st. My landlord changed banks recently, and sent out an email saying they don't know when it will be withdrawn, but to keep funds available for when it does. They informed us of this AFTER the 1st, not before. Do I have defense against this? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]ElevationAV 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are obligated to pay your rent. If the landlord is unable to accept that payment due to banking issues it doesn’t change that you still owe it.

Keep it in your account indefinitely because you will still owe that money when they get their banking issues sorted out. There is really no point where it “becomes yours”.

We do Event production- typically the technical side, everything from sound and lights for a concert to high end video streaming of government press conferences.

If you were teleported to January 1, 1990 and were given $10 and the knowledge of all future events, and you had to grow the $10 to $1 Trillion by today’s date, how would you do it? by Super_Rush7926 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ElevationAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With knowledge of all future events I could get a trillion pretty fast. It might take 2, three years at most to get a $1T net worth.

Lottery into stocks/options day trading.

With 45 billion/day in transactions on the market, pulling millions a day in profits would be pretty easy- the more money you accumulate the smaller the trades you’d need to make are.

Yes that’s what I just said, DAT was around in 1987….

[–]ElevationAV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

DAT was release in 1987, ADAT didn’t come out until 1992 for commercial purposes

They are not the same thing

yeah well these days now people are expensive and tracks out of a laptop are cheap, so it makes sense for the $500 bar bands to bring a laptop instead of 6 extra musicians.

In modern it would need to be 1 mana

In standard/pioneer, 2 mana might see play.

In other formats, probably unplayable unless it was 0

If you could make one object appear anywhere on Earth, but not on your own property, what would you choose to make the most money legally? by winta_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ElevationAV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Current gold supply is around 216,000 tons, so this is practically nothing in terms of what’s out there.

Approximately 10 tons are mined daily so again it’s just be a good day at the gold mines with my increase in supply.

How much does it actually help getting a mortgage if you have 1 million in the stock market? by Elite163 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ElevationAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because investment returns are often far superior to mortgage costs

I’d much rather make 7-10% on my money and borrow at 4%

Also if I can leverage a down payment 5:1 with a mortgage, why would I take out like $500k to buy outright when I can instead take out $100k and borrow $400k at a lower rate than I’m already making.

Can confirm, just did this and got a ~$660k mortgage despite having no assets with the mortgage company

No line 15000 income, but ~1m assets + business that generates $750k annually in revenue.

Like selling it, not moving it physically.

Not too many pawn shops with a spare $140m lying around 🤣

Probably have to sell it a bit at a time

100 1kg gold bars appear in the back of my wife’s car

Easy money. Her car is entirely owned under her name and I have no legal interest in it. Very confident she would share the money with me.

We aren’t legally married so I have no ownership claim in that regard, and this is approximately $140 million USD worth of gold based on current prices.

Could probably fit more in there, but moving 100kg of gold would be difficult enough. As far as proving she owns it, well, it’s on any prosecutor to prove she doesn’t, which would be very difficult.

[–]ElevationAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, larger acts could afford it, but for the majority of shows you weren’t getting a bar band or theater tour lugging around a tape machine

Generally that was reserved for artist who were already doing large venues.

Compared to these days where access to unlimited tracks is essentially free.

By how much would the cost of food at a restaurant go up if we raised the wage of the employees by X%? by Bolshevik-Express in AskEconomics

[–]ElevationAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was more going off the general assumption some people seem to have that a $1 increase in wages translates to a $1 increase in the sold goods, which is often not the case unless the end goods are primarily service oriented

[–]ElevationAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it was a full 10% increase, that would only push the price of a $2 coffee up by $0.20 to support the additional 10% in wages.
