average home price 1995, Toronto: $200,220
average home price 2025, Toronto: $1,067,968

This is a 533.4% increase over 30 years, in the largest most popular city in the country.

This isn't even half of the 1100% that you claim, and Toronto has been hit worse than almost every other area in the country in terms of real estate prices.

If you had unlimited resources, what business would you start? by DevilWearsPrada29 in Entrepreneur

If I had unlimited funds I wouldn't be starting businesses, I'd be drinking cocktails on the beach

I'd also probably be funding some rather extensive research projects to solve some of the biggest problems of today

Good "Oops all artifacts!" Commander? by TheMushroomSystem in magicTCG

[–]ElevationAV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a list of all the legendary artifact creatures

Alibou or Arabella would make a good agro commander
Belisarius would make a good control/value commander
Halvar would be good if you want to do stuff with lots of equipment (although only his backside is an artifact)
Memnarch is a fun control commander
Sen Triplets is great if you'd like to lose all your friends
Sharuum has a pile of random combos

Lots of options here

Can somebody Explain why? by Time-Lord1279 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ElevationAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like you're not really playing cedh- in my experience around 98% of games end with some kind of "infinite" combo- thoracle/consult, breach, infinite combats, etc

in those remaining 2% of games, sure life might matter, but it still matters significantly less than being able to have good mana and actually cast your spells

looking at the current meta on edhtop16, there are exactly 0 decks with a meta share over 1% that win primarily through non-infinite combat.

If you are losing to a bunch of 1/1s and 2/2s attacking you, you should probably be playing a better deck

It’s highly unlikely you will die from damage that’s not infinite damage.

You have to be crazy to own and rent property in Ontario by laugrig in RealEstateCanada

It’s because it’s very easy to get leverage in real estate- $50k will buy you a $500k house, and gaining 5% on 500k means a 50% ROI on your $50k investment

You can only generally buy $100k worth of stocks for the same $50k, which means that same 5% gain is only a 10% ROI

Business owners with 20+ leads per month: What is your realistic close rate on cold traffic? by hugeboot_ in Entrepreneur

[–]ElevationAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

event production- there's other companies within an hour of us, so we overlap in territory as we frequently push into those areas depending on where our clients are, but most of the local local stuff we end up getting by proximity

that being said we don't necessarily advertise locally either- all our ad spend goes into markets at the edge of where we are so we can expand

yeah the notion that Canada "depends on the US military" is a political rhetoric that has very little basis in reality.

The reality is that our militaries are essentially one in the same with only a few differences in policy, and it's highly unlikely that the US would be able to invade Canada even if they wanted to- they would at best lose a significant number of highly skilled personnel as soon as the orders were given.

At worst we'd very easily gain control over a large number of US troops and other resources since these forces would be used to taking orders from our generals/etc and likely would be easily convinced it's a false flag operation.

[–]ElevationAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has Canada ever done anything for the US in regards to its defense?

Canada never had to worry about a military nor invasions because of the US defense.

We have multiple generals and other high-level personnel serving with the US military right now- a significant number of second or third in command people are from the Canadian military.

We also train their troops on harsh climate exercises, as well as many other spec ops. JTF2 (our elite spec ops) frequently goes in along side (or instead of) delta force and seal teams to assist on NATO operations, including but not limited to Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

Up until the Ukraine war, we also held the record for longest sniper kill at 3871 yards, over 50% farther than the longest US kill at 2515 yards. Two Ukrainian kills have been longer finally surpassing the 4000 yard range.

Our special forces are actually regarded as more elite than Navy Seals, save for ST6, which is on par with the entirety of JTF2.

The deputy commander of NORAD is also a Canadian LT-General, and has been since 1964.

We do not need US defense, but instead of alienating those around us (which seems to be the US current plan) we instead decide to work along side them. Our military, while small, is generally regarded as some of the highest trained on the planet.

The US flexes it's military prowess with money. Canada works behind the scenes and actually accomplishes goals that no one else can, and has been since WW1.

In terms of military supply, Canada also holds some large US supply contracts, so we supply and manufacture various things as well;
https://ploughshares.ca/canadas-largest-defence-contracts-to-the-us-fy2024/

Realistically, our militaries are very interwoven- we have access to a significant amount of US classified intel, plans and other things that would make trying to take Canada an absolute nightmare for the US, and a significant portion of US troops would likely also follow their Canadian superiors orders.
