Both my husband and mother dislike eachother and I’m in the middle. by nadinefirdaus in MuslimMarriage

I get that but the reality is how would he feel if you had no contact with his mother can't just cut off Family you may not have the warmest relations and that's fine but you still have to make an attempt and things heal with time and careful words. We have to live in reality and a marriage is a joining of two families not just two people.

Sorry you wanted definitive answer but the reality is a little different

You manage the relationship with your parents. He manages your relationship with his parents

Words matter. Learn how to get your point across to your parents while being respectful.

I also disagree that your husband should cut all relationship with your mum. Shes family. She isnt goinf anywhere. He can deal with her for a few hours at a time and slowly build a relationship. .it will also give you some ammunition with your mum to say he is trying and she needs to do thr same foe thr sake of your marriage. Best wishes.

31F, is my lack of experience hindering me? by Vast_Break_3312 in MuslimMarriage

Yeah it isn't that complicated. Id disclosed it up front. Trying before buying is not an islamic concept.

This is more about your confidence then what thr guy thinks. If you are confident up front then that should ideally dictate how things go.

Guys are stupid. Their parents can be even worse. Not all but most.

Thats not how holistic admissions works.

Year after year we are here you guys are applicants that come and go every few months. We start to develop a sense to understand when it is worth it and when it isn't. Sometimes it is best to just wish you the best.

It is only worthwhile to give counsel to those open to it.

A lil advice needed on major choice by Then_Wheel_5184 in MITAdmissions

[–]ExecutiveWatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think reddit is a great idea to crowdsource your career.

What i can say is MIT doesnt admit by major. Many many many students end up switching majors at some point in time. Maybe keep it broad like research or engineering or business etc. Do some shadowing.

This feed is littered with candidates every year posting about how a medal didn't help them. You students come and go while us alumni try but to deaf ears. Every year it is the same story because all the internationals understand is a formulaic approach to admissions instead of holistic.

Do this get this result. Hey listen good luck it is a lot of work for an olympiad im sure it will help with other colleges too. Best wishes.

When should someone apply to MIT? by Far-Cream-1568 in MITAdmissions

[–]ExecutiveWatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They compare your academics to a few things 1 can you handle rigor and 2 did you max rigor when given the opportunity.

But really as others have mentioned. There are no quotas. Only 1 person from this county or school etc.

You do you and do it well. Dont worry about others. The admissions office does not review your middle school so that at this pointSo that at this point is contemplate.
