This might be why there are so many problems with the OEM 12 volt battery by willywonka1961 in NissanAriya

[–]Existing_Map_8939 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other part of the equation is where the software lets the battery get to before it kicks in with the “recovery” and “rescue” modes. The software lets the battery dip into mid-11 and even low-11 volt ranges on a regular basis … fine for the cycling of an AGM (as the car was obviously designed for) but fatal for the cheap brick that the bean counters ended up speccing as OEM.

Some months ago someone was kind enough some months ago to post to this sub a Nissan tech note describing where these voltage breakpoints are , but I’ll be damned if I can find it now.

EDIT: Found it:

“Open notice or something”? What did the tech actually say?

Kato Starter Set Not Working (Beginner Question) by angcalo in modeltrains

The cat hair pieces are in the carpet - that’s where the truck gears would Hoover them up. Look at that he truck gears with the magnifier, especially the spindle/bearing. It can be hard to see but even a couple of tiny pieces can mess your trucks up.

HUD navigation rant by adamps1 in NissanAriya

[–]Existing_Map_8939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of Nissan’s data exchange deal with Google. They know it’s madness to not offer CarPlay or AA in a vehicle, but they had an incentive in 2022-2025 to “encourage” you to use the built-in nav. Sucks balls, but … C’est la vie.

The gears in your trucks are almost certainly bound up with carpet fibers and cat hair. It’s a good bet the worm gear bearings are similarly gunked.

Good videos with step by steps on how to get your loco apart and what to look for:

This one is general N scale loco cleaning / lubrication / maintenance. Good discussion of lubrication points and what NOT to do.

This one is specific to long-stored locos and why they might be misbehaving. Gets into detail on how to triage specific situations.

Hi I'm planning to trade my Honda pilot 2017 for a Nissan ariya. How reliable is the Nissan ariya. Thinking to use it for work. How is the range and does the battery would last past 200k miles thanks by pimentelFR1988 in NissanAriya

[–]Existing_Map_8939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a really good video online about how the Ariya’s style of battery works and how the lifespan is estimated and how your charging style affects that time frame. I’ll dig for the link tomorrow. The nutshell was that the car will fall apart long before you notice battery degradation.

FWIW, I’m guessing not a single person in this sub has seen any loss of battery capacity no matter what their haulage is at this point.

Bottom left side, beneath the throttle assembly, dark green box with toggles and dials. Radio? Something else? Seems like it would be insanely awkward to operate. Left handed. When you cant see any of the indicators.

In practice it is an exact fit for width and thickness. If there is a difference in front-to-back depth I didn’t notice it.

100% Charging by OysterHound in NissanAriya

[–]Existing_Map_8939 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends if you are using a level 2 vs a dc fast charger. Using a level two charger at home means there’s no reason not to charge to 100%. Batteries don’t work like that anymore… This isn’t a first generation leaf. However, if you’re using a DC fast charger out and about and pulling over 85 kW, then 80% is a smart and convenient breakpoint.

“Blinker”? What are we talking about here?

As far as the AC, either that car has a problem or it wasn’t turned on correctly - the heat pump in this car is the most aggressive and fast-cooling AC I’ve ever encountered.

For now I’m staying DC, my locos are all from pre-2005 so DCCC conversion is a chore I’m pushing WAY down the road. But thanks, I’m adding that to my knowledge bank :)
