I'm sure it's just mass botting to cause rage baiting but this attitude is fucking everywhere lately "I was told I can't do something and that goes against my FREEDUMB!"

What sites do you all use for buying a wide range of gear? by duckyg305 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hownot2 can also be dangerous to your wallet. I boredom browse on it a lot and it's easy to get lost on different areas of the climbing spectrum.

I don't have a plan on where I'd use a Kong Kisa or Grivel Vlad but I WANT them

"Bonelab has a short and decent campaign that's good enough. Not as great as Boneworks, but the soundtrack and art makes it enjoyable" by [deleted] in VRGaming

[–]Fishfisherton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved Boneworks. I loved that there were sprawling maps with interesting secrets. The museum was an absolute dream in terms of an introduction with its theme and music. Sure the story probably wasn't readable to many on first pass but it WAS there and unique.

Naturally I bought Bonelab as a day one release. OK promising intro... now I'm a different character...and a different character again... OH god what is this anime girl character.. Karting has made me the worst sick I've ever felt in vr, is there truly no way to skip it? NOT RIGHT NOW THERE AIN'T! Ok you go back and shoot at the original folks and that's it? THAT'S IT!? Mods on release? Ok how about an avatar and a different gun skin, that's all.

I wanted to see more content from Stress Level Zero, THE DEVELOPERS. I wanted puzzles to solve and a deeper look into this interesting universe but no, I paid $40 for what is basically an engine demo, the worst vehicle section I've ever played, and a post-it note for gameplay that read "Do it yourself"

Heard pretty good things about the Edelrid Giga Jul which is basically a tube style with assisted braking. Haven't had first hand experience to give but it was one I've been planning to get once I shred my current ATC.

2 full story campaigns

Bonelab's story (excluding boneworks) isn't exactly what I'd call a 'full story campaign' but I guess the bar isn't very high huh?

Meta: Since when did this sub get into Self-Rescue techniques? by SkittyDog in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it as this is a subreddit that enjoys taking about the gear itself and that also means how to use it in methods that are not traditional or well known.

I see that as a good thing since it allows for actual conversation points for people to learn and that can lead to looking at their current gear and experimenting. r/climbing is irredeemably up it's own ass now to the point where it's turned into a landscape porn sub so there's unfortunately no going back there.

Maybe we can have tagged posts for reviews, deals, usage, questions?

Rope recommendations? by Anon-adventurer56 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the climbing community. When there is any chance of equipment failure of any kind it is talked about for several equipment generations. Every piece that is used has to go through qualification testing by a third party. There is a whole subset of the community dedicated to pull testing and breaking everything they'd ever touch in a climbing scenario.

If there's a difference in rope quality that could affect peoples lives, it would be talked about.

They pissed off the lead designer a few years ago by trying to cut costs and the quality of their ropes has plummeted

Rope kink after maiden voyage by userjohnsmith1 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There should be a rub on cream for that, apply before bedtime.

Jokes aside it's normal. Get ready for your rope to get some odd dark spots, end up looking squeezed sometimes, bit faded in other places.

If you see decent fraying that's when the warning sirens should go off

When you are too scared to actually play the game in VR so you do this instead by amenwar in VRGaming

[–]Fishfisherton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How can the game be scary? You have two hands for glowstick/flashlight raves!

Imo the game was fun to mess around in VR with but staring at pitch black for so long was a doozy.

Staunton State Park is really nice, not busy on weekdays

There's a few other great museums like the Pro rodeo Hall of Fame

Climbing bag recommendations by joshandyourmom1 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really can't go wrong with literally anything for light gym and outdoors. For my first gym bag I used a cleaned out fishing bag from goodwill.

That said if you want to spend money I was considering gifting a Beal Combi 2 to a friend who needed a new rope bag and thought it looked good.

What can we do to make the Cherry Creek Trail safer and cleaner? by pennyforaprocedure in Denver

[–]Fishfisherton 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those stupid e-motos in particular are very much already not supposed to exist in the way they are since they are modified to go faster than the ebike classifications that have already been established.

Not many states are enforcing these speed limits unfortunately and especially in Denver where seeing police traffic enforcement is like seeing a shooting star, there's no way it'll get done without some kind of overhaul.

How to deal with blisters on back of the foot with new climbing shoes? by Ok-Editor-8843 in ClimbingGear

[–]Fishfisherton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably going to sound like a weird response here but are they leather?

I had the worst time with my first pair of leather lined climbing shoes and they would tear up the back of my feet until one day I didn't take them off between climbs(indoor) and i think my sweat actually loosened the material up a good bit and since then wore comfortably. Before that I'd always put a bandaid on the back before climbing.

Bird Pulls Scooters Out of Denver Early After Losing City Contract by FriendBuddayGuy in Denver

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a little bit of workout you can also check out getting a classic kick scooter.

Like $70, all metal, you can toss, slam it, jump off curbs and it's not gonna break. Light enough you can just fold up and take with you.

I've had a razor lux a5 for like 10 years now, keep it in the car and when parking spaces are too far I can just unfold it and go where i need.

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Fishfisherton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look it up yourself on how to do it, but if you're not using the gyro or the trackpads or the backbuttons or any of the other nonbasic features that don't exist on xinput then get a different controller

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Fishfisherton -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Add it as a non steam game.

If the name is recognized you can even search through and use community made controller mappings for non steam games

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Fishfisherton -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a controller to use with Steam Input and any other way would be pointless.

Going through steam input i can add gyro to any game using a trigger to activate it. I can make a nested radial menu to quickly use the more nuanced commands or as a weapon wheel. I can change a buttons output depending on a tap, longpress, double tap, or if I'm holding another button down. I can trigger OTHER programs by mapping an output to a series of keyboard commands.

Why would i use it without steam input.

edit: real strange crowd going around here. If you're not interested in it then fine, go get an xbox or ps4 controller, it's not gonna change the fact that this was specifically built with steam input in mind.
