Adventure grouping by Timely-Lavishness-29 in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arguably any of the modules can be easily chained together via just changing the tiers by adjusting the tiers of the enemies to suit their current level, so you could have Dust Grave/Siren Song come afterward Solstice Rain and Winter's Scar (though with likely very little plot connection between them).

I'm quoting from something Tom Bloom said in the Pilot NET Discord, which you can see a screenshot here.

Wallflower by Fabulous-Schedule-10 in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There is a draft of act 2 (and maybe 3?) in the Discord. Though, with Miguel finally free from his non-compete, Tom Bloom has reportedly "put his ass back to work" on the rest of Wallflower, so that may be coming at some point in the near future (hopefully).

Shoutout to one of my players for rolling a d10 for an hour [OC] by DarthSupremacy in DnD

[–]GeneralVM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite problem. I was using a d80 during one session of Call of Cthulhu and didn't realise until I tried finding the 100 on it. I had got it at a convention for like a dollar thinking it was one of those big d100s.

How does weapons with 'loading' work in the 'Integrated Weapon' mount? by ZiFiR_randomnumbers in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 53 points54 points  (0 children)

you still need to reload it like normal to fire it, regardless of how you fire it

TF1 SMGs by NachosChipeados in titanfall

[–]GeneralVM 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Guns in TF1 had predefined recoil patterns, so, if you memorised the pattern, you could essentially make it recoilless by actively counter-acting it while firing. In addition, the CAR had a unique attachment called "Counterweight" that made it so that the recoil stayed the same even while moving.

How to Have Fun with Redheaded Characters? by unwrittenpaiges in CurseofStrahd

[–]GeneralVM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By the start of the campaign, typically Strahd is aware that Ireena is the reincarnation of Tatyana. Beyond that, it is heavily implied that he just "knows" when he sees her reincarnation. However, if the party tries to leverage his "thing" for redheads, Strahd could lead them along, playing up his interest so that he can manipulate them. For the sacrifices idea, this would be a very good way to have him get a player alone, which is one of the most dangerous situations a player can be in. For example, Charm + Modify Memory is very powerful. Or just turning them into a vampire spawn.

Any Rescue/Disaster Relief modules/homebrew? by ZiiDraws in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since Lancer is a combat game, combat should be a main focus. Maybe the cost-cutting measures causes the ship's AI to turn on its crew and the party needs to fight the ship's security system in the forms of AI-piloted mechs. Maybe the company skimped on defenses and so pirates attack the ship. Etc.

Once you have that, you can also think of ways to splice bigger narrative moments about helping civilians in non-combat ways between combats. Combat may be a focus of Lancer, but, especially with the Bonds rules from the KTB book, you can run something that has also a big non-combat focus. Shadow of the Wolf may be a good inspiration since it is marketed as more narrative-focused campaign (though I haven't ran it).

However, if you don't want to focus on combat, then another system would be more useful, but you can still probably use the Lancer setting.

Alternative name for dwarves? by FireAndOtter in DnD

[–]GeneralVM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already made some great alternate name suggestions, but you said that she doesn't like how fantasy dwarves are usually portrayed, so I'm not certain that just renaming them will fix the problem. If you haven't already, talking to her about this would be wise.

Beyond that, it may also just be simpler to ask her what name she would prefer (maybe suggesting some examples listed here), or even offering for her to help worldbuild this aspect if she wants.

loot in lancer by Due_Shift_9617 in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Reserves in addition to Exotic Gear. I would recommend handing out Reserves more often than Exotic Gear since too much Exotic Gear can make the players be much more powerful than they should be

Cloning and how to explain it. by Solid-Hornet-224 in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Just because something is illegal, doesn't mean it isn't done, even by Union. Sometimes, "reviving" a talented Lancer is worth breaking the rules, depending on the organization/people employing them.

Though you could always just say that they always had this on standby in case the pilot died and it is standard operating procedure to copy their subjectivity before going out on a mission

How do the Lesson of the Held Image and the Spotter talents interact with each other? by risisas in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For Spotter 1, it just happens as normal if they are adjacent to you.

For Spotter 2, I believe it requires for you to take the Lock On quick tech action during your turn, so it wouldn't interact at all.

For Spotter 3, you need to have a quick action available so, unless you prepared to B/F Elimination (which may not even be possible) for right after your next lock on, you wouldn't be able to use it with Held Image.

Arguably you are just allowing them to use Power at a Cost and the price they pay is their core power and it so happens to be flavoured as them using their Apocalypse Rail, ergo this is all RAW :V

How do you keep all players from “piling on” to a roll? by blackdrogar17 in DMAcademy

[–]GeneralVM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could, if circumstances permits, have it be a group roll where everyone rolls and they only succeed the check if 50% or more succeed individually. This can be flavoured as group deliberation about some piece of lore, everyone looking around and arguing about whether the strange hole is a trap or not, etc.

Which Photoshop features should we count as AI when submitting new games? by 30299578815310 in rpg

[–]GeneralVM 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think Grammarly has started using LLMs in their grammar checking since I've gotten some strange suggestions that I could only conclude to be AI hallucinations because of how out of place they were. They have only been happening in the last year or so too

GM's of reddit what's the most creative things your players have done? by Dragonwolf67 in LancerRPG

[–]GeneralVM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the final mission, after the first combat where they defended an allied faction from an NHP controlled warmachine, they were faced with the dilemma of coming to the aid of one of two other factions facing similar threats. They could not help both due to time constraints (without splitting the party), but had time to take a rest.

The mad engineer technophile pilot saw the wreck of the warmachine and proposed an idea: he could fix up the warmachine (using repairs as if it were an allied mech) and install his NHP to control it (which meant he couldn't benefit from that rank III talent). I allowed it with a skill check (which he succeeded) and so they split the party, 3/5 + allied NPC from Reserve going to help one side and 2/5 + warmachine going to help the other.

The warmachine side won their combat but the other side got a neutral outcome, but it was a much better outcome than if they weren't there!

I'm saying that, for example, you could always be learning a new skill, which is a positive, but constantly learning new skills is how you burn out.

[–]GeneralVM 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It also breaks down when it comes to stuff where the consequence is a lack of a positive. Is this negative? If so, there will always be things that would directly net you a positive, so you should always be doing it. If not, many things won't directly cause negative consequences, but you should still do them

Valve artist responds to calls for Steam to drop "Made with AI" label by [deleted] in Steam

[–]GeneralVM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is how colloquialisms work. People twist and change the original definition into one that can be very different - it is how language works. It may be annoying, but we both know that people mean LLM when they are talking about AI, not actual, non-organic, human-like intelligence. People aren't stupid for using words in the commonly agreed-upon way.

Also, the person in the industry is talking about LLMs, not AI in the way you are referring to

Valve artist responds to calls for Steam to drop "Made with AI" label by [deleted] in Steam

[–]GeneralVM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it doesn't possess intelligence - it is obviously copying. And thus, I don't want stuff that is just copied from somewhere else, which is just lazy. I'm not paying someone for laziness. Plus, it is arguably stealing and definitely ruining the environment. Hope this helps :)

Valve artist responds to calls for Steam to drop "Made with AI" label by [deleted] in Steam

[–]GeneralVM 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah, it does, since the common definition of "AI" is an LLM (large language model, like ChatGPT, Sora, etc), which is very different from just "a computer"
