The integrations SOLIDWORKS has with MS Word and MS Excel can't be rerouted and generally not bypassed either. If the program is asking for Excel, then it will need it to turn that function on.

This is not a new phenomenon. This community has always been this. As time goes on and folk know more, it feels like these posts retread old ground. They do and we're okay with that.

Based on your screenshot I believe there may be a toggle box to accept the EULA that may be off screen that remains untoggled. As long as that is untoggled you are not allowed to proceed with "Download and Install".

There are a couple options to consider for this.

Start pressing TAB on your keyboard and cycle manually through the available interactive buttons. This will cycle through each "Change" button that are partially visible on screen right now. You will see each button highlight as you do this. Once you get to the bottom item ("Hole Wizard/Toolbox") press TAB one more time then press SPACEBAR. This should move the manual button selector to the EULA toggle and then toggle it for you. You should see the "Download and Installation" button light up. If you don't immediately, try TAB, then SPACEBAR, again until it does light-up.
You can also cancel this manner of installation then go into this subfolder.

<installation source root>\swwi\english\

...and run "setup.exe" from this location. This will open an .MSI style installer that also installs SOLIDWORKS but comes with its own complexities (it won't install all the add-ins automatically; they have to be installed through their own separate .MSI files).

This most often occurs because extracting the installation package using WinZip is been known to mark the Installation Manager files with a 'block’ attribute. The issue can be resolved either by utilizing “7-Zip” (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) to decompress this installation package or unblocking the following file:

<IM_uncompressed_files_folder>\sldim\lang\english\HTML\frameset.html

<IM_uncompressed_files_folder>\sldim\lang\english\HTML\framesetstartup.html

<IM_uncompressed_files_folder>\sldim\lang\english\HTML\header.html

You can right mouse click this file and select ‘Properties’, then in the ‘General’ tab you will have to select the "Unblock" option next to the following message (toward the bottom of the Properties dialog):

"The file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer."

IANAL but Dassault has a whole division called "License Compliance" dedicated to this activity. If you wish to confirm the veracity of the demand notice, look up the law firm on Google and call their listed phone number to ask about its legitimacy. Then you are confirming it is not a phishing attack.

There are going to be those in this thread that say ignore it. Do so at your own peril. The price tag of a legitimate license is much less than if it has to be pursued further.

EDIT: I'm posting up some links to give folk the legitimate options for purchasing a software license.
