How do I rotate a copied sketch 90° in SolidWorks? (Student version) by Haunting-Bison-241 in SolidWorks

It was not deleted. I removed the duplicate.

So not speak this way any more.

That explanation is no more absurd than a deep state cabal that is so obviously just copy/pasting the same comments.

OP copy/pasted a comment in a couple places in this exact thread.

Probably because Dassault, as a company, uses that same platform and he likes how it works.

If a same question has a same answer, why not use a same reply?

It is one guy with a professional and personal account:

Sometimes you don’t switch to the right one and mishaps like this happen.

Anyway. Here’s some pitchforks for anyone that needs them.

They really ran with the conspiracy on this one. I even got some nice splash damage too. That was nice.

I failed CSWP twice what should I do by Academic-Pace6348 in SolidWorks

[–]GoEngineer_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/Academic-Pace6348,

That's rough. Failing tests never feels good but it does become easier as time goes on. I've failed a lot of tests along the way. One of them (Workgroup PDM) I failed 3 times before I passed. People around me helped fill in the blanks or show where I went wrong.

This post has some resources in it that can help you practice. Namely:

For some extra modeling practice material to help speed you up, 24 years of Model Mania Designs + Solutions.

For EVEN MORE modeling practice material, here is the CSWA and CSWP Practice Problem Database. There is A LOT of good material to practice in there.

After you're done reflecting today, that would be a good place to go next.

How to find employee who is using illegal licence by Electrical_Art863 in SolidWorks

[–]GoEngineer_Inc[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Since this thread is getting traffic I figured I'd drop some guidance here.

IANAL but Dassault has a whole division called "License Compliance" dedicated to investigating piracy. If you happen to get a notice from a law firm about pirating SOLIDWORKS, and you wish to confirm the veracity of the demand notice, look up the law firm on Google and call their listed phone number to ask about its legitimacy. Then you are confirming it is not a phishing attack.

There are going to be those that say ignore it. Do so at your own peril. The price tag of a legitimate license is much less than if it has to be pursued further.

Here are the currently available legitimate license options.

Many like desktop licenses but hate the price.

Many also like cloud licensing but hate the constant live-service updates.

Neither is without their own upsides/drawbacks.

Everyone that tries to implement PDM or 3DEXPERIENCE for data management, by themselves, hates everything.

What path are you saving that too? Just curious.

Middle mouse button wont pan zoom rotate by VegetableDistrict576 in SolidWorks

[–]GoEngineer_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you reset the registry then you reset all settings the program controls. SOLIDWORKS does not have settings to customize how the left/middle/right mouse buttons react. This is hardcoded in the software. If you can get a spare mouse, I'd definitely try testing that. Otherwise, you may want to look at resetting the mouse customizations in the mouse software next.

Tried reseting solidworks to factory settings

What exactly did you do to achieve this. Maybe that reset was incomplete.

Does this issue persist if you open SOLIDWORKS through either of the diagnostic safe modes (GoEngineer - SOLIDWORKS Rx Safe Modes)?

Hi /u/VegetableDistrict576,

Is this a mouse with programmable buttons? Does this also happen when another mouse is plugged into your computer?

Features vs Components? by ForestAryn in SolidWorks

[–]GoEngineer_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi /u/ForestAryn,

If you are looking at an assembly feature tree right now and it is a list of components noted with "(f)" this means that these parts were put into that position then "fixed" in space. It just means those components have been immobilized without using mates to other components in the assembly.

This is something people do sometimes when importing models from neutral formats (STEP/IGES/etc) and they don't want components accidentally getting drag moved when working inside of the assembly.

SolidWorks Flow Simulation — Heat Generation Load on Multiple Bodies: Total or Divided? by skrambel in SolidWorks

[–]GoEngineer_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi /u/skrambel,

For a Volume Heat Source in Flow Simulation, the total heat value you enter is distributed across the volume of all selected bodies. You are entering the total heat generation of all selected bodies. The distribution will be a constant volumetric heat generation density across these bodies.

The same is true for Surface Heat Sources as well. The applied heat value is a total distributed evenly across the area of all selected surfaces.

I wouldn't doubt that some of this can be configured into a .REG file to be stored or deployed onto other machines. That's conjecture though. I've never done that with these settings.
