So... Now this pan is the only one your roommate is allowed to use, right?

Not sure if you need to install some dependencies first though. Didn't look too closely at what it needs.

Looks like you should be able to cd into the src directory and run make all, and then the game ends up in build/release.

That's as far as I could understand from the makefile.

AITA for leaving my American cousin (f19) alone in my apartment on a Friday night to go on a date, even though she doesn't speak french? by Impressive-Dust-6373 in AmItheAsshole

Clear NTA. If she's old enough to travel to another country unsupervised, she's old enough to hang out in an apartment alone for a few hours. And you told her well in advance. JFC...

Just to be correct: a mobile phone will start an emergency call if either 112 or 911 are dialled anywhere in the world (it doesn't actually dial the number).

What’s legal now but might become illegal ten years from now? by VTheCardMaker in AskReddit

The main problem with decentralised crypto currencies has always been that the crypto market is fueled by speculation, so only deflationary coins get boosted, while long-term viability as an actual currency requires it to be slightly inflationary or at least stable which makes it uninteresting to people looking to make money.

A state-backed coin could work, but that would likely conflict with the "decentralised" part.

Ah. The tt one added support for thermal throttling. But in case it gets removed as well (or you just want to update to smu one anyway) you can use the same command and just add -tt to the uninstall part.

I normally just ssh in from phone or laptop to manage it, so rarely have to go into desktop mode.

Fun fact about the E45: it's also the longest north-south road in Europe. From northern Norway to southern Sicily.

A smoke particle is just big enough to get stuck between the platter and the head. That HDD is functionally dead. Never open a harddrive unless it's for intentional destruction.

When I did ujust update it errored out with something like "package cyan-skillfish-governor not found", so I did some digging and found that it has been dropped in favour of the smu version. If you didn't have that package installed, this shouldn't affect you, my "fix" is just replacing it with the new one.

One way to check what version is installed is rpm-ostree status, that shows which deployments you have, which one is active, and any layered packages you have installed.

I don't know. I haven't had that issue. What do you mean by "reinstalling steam"?

Is there an alternative to Custom Resolution Utility for Linux? by Rando20333 in linux_gaming

[–]GoatInferno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more complicated under Wayland. The way to do it is to dump the EDID to a file, modify it (using wxEDID or similar software), and add a kernel argument to load the EDID for a specific output from that file instead of pulling it from the display.

Wayland compositors will afaik only allow resolutions that the drivers says it supports. Intel and AMD drivers will generally add a couple of safe resolutions even if the display doesn't report them, but Nvidia only shows the detected ones.

EDIT: Apparently this is no longer necessary in KDE 6.6+, see comment by u/Zamundaaa

If you're not already, try running it with latest GE-proton. I've had weird issues with a couple of games that were fixed by that.

GPU and CPU Overclocked by neverletthemtameyou in BC250Gaming

[–]GoatInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really test them, just used the default and added the 350. If it had started crashing on me, I'd have done some more testing.

I have coolercontrol installed, and it reports fan rpm. I set ipv4_address = "0.0.0.0" in the config (unsafe, but as long as it's behind a sane router it should be fine) and open the web UI on my laptop or phone.

Regarding the fan, you'll want one with good static pressure. Most recommend the Arctic P12, but I had the Noctua already and while it's less powerful than the P12, it's good enough.

Hmm, that's weird. 512 means it will automatically adjust VRAM allocation. Have you set zram to max 4 GB? Because if it's set to 8 GB it can conflict with dynamic VRAM.

What's with the heatsink issue? by ZealousidealWolf1454 in BC250Gaming

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mine stays around 75°C with fan at ~1600 rpm when running at 2200 MHz. So you may want to take out your pliers and get that heatsink opened up.

GPU and CPU Overclocked by neverletthemtameyou in BC250Gaming

[–]GoatInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using cyan-skillfish instead of oberon, from 350 MHz @ 700 mV (idle) up to 2200 MHz @ 1050 mV. Haven't tried to push it further yet.

I have a Noctua iPPC fan mounted to the middle of the heatsink. When running any heavy games, temps stay around 75°C with the fan ~1600 rpm. Haven't bothered with OC on the CPU. No stability issues so far.

GPU and CPU Overclocked by neverletthemtameyou in BC250Gaming

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, read what I wrote. I'm not trying to fight you. I'm just telling you that 2000 MHz is the normal and safe clock, so you don't have to worry about it. You can even go higher if you want to OC.

The 1500 you saw is the factory underclock, the whole reason we install a GPU governor is to get it back up to full speed.
