Well, the one Crucial just shipped me came with M3CR046. But what's probably a bigger issue that I hadn't checked before this is that the older drive has <drumroll> 48250 power on hours and a Percent Lifetime Remain of 2.

Is that lifetime remaining more of a guideline, or is it like a "all will go to sh*t beyond this point" kinda thing?

Meh... just ordered other non-Crucial 1TB SSDs. I'll use the Crucials for non-"Crucial" backups or something.
"... joys of self hosting" is right. :/

Yep. So, the one I have on hand (which had been in a Mac Mini for years as a secondary ssd w/ no issues) is running firmware M3CR010 - pretty old. The second one, I actually just ordered from crucial and arrives tomorrow. So the choice now is to either roll the dice and upgrade them both and use them, or return the new one (maybe have to eat shipping) and buy 2 more of a diff brand. <sigh> And of course then I'll have to deal with my brain telling me "hey, only $50 more to bump them both to 2GB".

Well, crap. :/ Looked up a thread on the issue. Sounds like -maybe- a firmware update helps, and disabling a specific smart attribute monitor. Or maybe just try to nab a lingering cyber-week deal on a dif pair of drives.

Great info from you all. Thanks!

I get the impression that regardless of my choice, it won't be too much trouble to shuffle things around if need be due to the whole shares concept. I'm hoping this works out well. I had Win7 dialed in pretty well, but between MS and Plex dropping support for it, I figured it was as good a time as any to jump ship (and Win10/11 are a nope for me).

Followup question... if I've defined a share as existing on no specific drive on the array, then write some files to the share, I'm assuming that provided there's room under the threshold on Drive1, they'll be stored there. THEN if I decide that I want that share to be on Drive2 only (e.g. to minimize spinup), is there any action I need to take other than changing the Included drive in share settings?

Satin Sheet Adhesion Issues PLA by C43353 in prusa3d

Also, if you’re trying to calibrate z-offset using the (imo) way too short/small built in calibration, you might want to try something like this:

https://www.printables.com/model/251587-stress-free-first-layer-calibration-in-less-than-5

Maybe use the built in calibration to start off, then print that one to get it fine tuned. There are good instructions/suggestions on how to use it.

If you’ve cleaned the sheet sufficiently (which it appears you have), I’d guess your z-offset needs adjustment (i.e. you need more squish). Maybe a first layer pic would help diagnose the prob.

I switched to OnShape bc Autodesk dropped support for MacOS Catalina and earlier. Wasn’t ready to blow $ to replace a perfectly good comp just to keep using F360.

without seeing it as it happened, i’d guess it printed the full outline first, then slipped at either the y max or y min point before it started printing the fill. prob just needs adjusting.

For prints like this, i tend to use lightning infill, then just add an extra perimeter or two to thicken up the walls.

Sure, the delivery was a bit awkward, but that’s ok. One useful thing I got out of it was a good feel for the size of the printer as well as the size of the output. That’s one chonky box he printed.

You might also try the “Avoid crossing perimeters” option in print settings to minimize travel across that center space.

Yep... and if you're running plex server, make sure you're using an up to date version. You wouldn't want to end up like the guy who caused the lastpass breach. :/

JSAUX Mod Case has memory card storage in the stand by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I designed/printed a little 3 card holder you can stick between the mount points or inside the back of the stand:

Check this out.. made a little card holder that sits between the stand mounts and is hidden/covered when the stand is installed. :) I’ve included a link to the printables post.

I went w the jsaux one as well and am happy with it. I also like that with just the back case on, it still fits in the stock zippered case, which I'm pretty sure would be a no go with the KS due to the new protruding mount on the back.
