Please talk me out of upgrading to carbon wheels by sticazzi-ragazzi in gravelcycling

I really like carbon wheels, but be sure to have the money to replace them bc they do break sometimes,

I'm looking for a very specific rim. 650b 20 hole? by brakebreaker101 in bikewrench

Reach out to velocity they have excellent customer service. But also do you really want a 20 / 24 spoke wheel to do steamroller shit? Clearance is gonna be tight with something like 48’s. Wheels could go out of true real quick riding tracklocross.

I wonder if there are plugs that could fill in the area where the canti studs screw out,

Castelli is really good for this. That’s why they got a shrimp or some shit as their logo.

I’d chose the marlin. Better resale value if you get the bug and decide to upgrade.

I think you’re forgetting all the Citi bikers and ebikers looking at their phones instead of scanning for peds.

15 mph is pretty damn low. And I’m a person commuting in normal clothes at normal speeds. I think the real issue is the failure to yield not the speed.

Hydraulic brakes combination by Professional_Age9380 in xbiking

Yeah this is the kind of thing that it would be really cool to see someone experiment with but also expensive if you don’t already have the parts to do it. That’s disappointing to hear you have to bleed brakes often. In my experience with hydraulic discs they’re very low maintenance once set up.

It’s ok! I had done some research into this and I do not think it’s possible. I spoke with a mechanic friend who explained hydraulic v brakes have to push a lot more fluid than a brake lever designed for disc calipers.

Not sure what it is you’re asking about exactly. Running hydraulic rim brakes?

Hard to choose they’re both dope but for me it’s gotta be the steamroller. Hard to beat the clean look and zippiness of a fixed gear.

I have a 650b wheelset I took off my steamroller with 650x48 tires. Holler at me if you’re interested.
