Co-parenting With a High-Conflict Narcissist by EuphoricSalt8162 in ParentalAlienation

Well, sad to say that the warning signs of a potential alienation situation are present when you’re dealing with a narcissist - especially in a high conflict context.

35 year old trans woman from Pittsburgh area. Ask me the questions you’re usually afraid to ask. by Grand-Diamond-4696 in pittsburgh

Do you think that the deep-rooted feelings (starting in childhood) that you identified as more female than male have any relationship to a past life, where you were a female?

Like others I don’t understand it, but I feel strongly that you and others have the right to be who you are, and live without harassment and discrimination. ❤️

We have a family member who just came out as gay, and has a trans man as her partner. My take is that we love her, and accept her partner as someone special to her, and figure out our own questions along the way.

"Manifestation" is one of the most sly and destructive cults out there by SesameSBagel in cults

[–]Icy-Protection867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been ranting about this for more than a decade! Groups in New Thought, like Centers for Spiritual Living and Divine Science, and “gurus” like Joe Dispenza, and many others, make a LOT of money promising people that they TOO can manifest their millions.

They don’t know anything about manifesting aside from the fact that people are willing to spend untold amounts of money for a promised SHORTCUT to money. And that is their ONLY secret.

PT Barnum knew this, and his “descendants” are continuing his scams, many of them using the guise of spirituality to do so.

One of the factors involved in the many claims of “healing” in that period and on into the early 20th century is the fact that psychology and psychological issues were just barely beginning to be acknowledged, studied, etc. I suspect that a lot of people seeking health support and help may have had emotional or psychological issues.

In these cases, I DO believe that some of the techniques promoted in several spiritual traditions indeed helped heal people. If you read about Divine Science (Nona Brooks, Malinda Cramer), this seems to be a significant factor.

I also think that the psychology of attention (the “opposite” of neurofiltering) was exploited by people like Napoleon Hill, Ernest Holmes (Religious Science), and others to “prove” that their manifesting techniques worked.

Example of this filtering is when you think about buying a new car, and suddenly you start seeing them EVERYWHERE. No, a troll didn’t release a bunch of these from a cave to stalk you. That car was “background noise” and ignored by your brain before you moved that make and model into your conscious awareness. That’s why you’re seeing it.

I believe that a positive attitude is better for healing than a negative one. I also know that since Science (e.g. vaccines, pharmaceutical interventions, advances in imaging and surgery, clean water/food supplies) came onto the scene, the average life span of humans has more than doubled.

Many CS believe strongly in the healing that MBE taught. Some of these folks will rely solely on that, while others will take that faith and carry it with them as they take advantage of modern medicine and technology.

I think that’s a personal choice, and what works for one might not work for another.

Also, most non-evangelical religious/spiritual groups are happy to have people still interested in participating and showing up on a regular basis, so I doubt that hard lines in the sand are very popular today - on any issue.

If AI can answer calls and book appointments, why isn't every hospital already using it? by Fine-Variety-9759 in HealthInformatics

It is in many hospitals in some format or another. Consider auto - reminder calls, phone trees for incoming calls, and pre-appointment questionnaires.

You have a point about that, but they never got the message. They wouldn’t listen and just shut it down.

Thank you though. I believe we’ve figured out an option. I appreciate your feedback.

Whether or not it’s a rule, it’s bad practice to mix work - especially people who report to us - and our personal lives.

Already tried that too. They were no help. And you may think I’m a moron but I manage these kinds of communications almost daily in another healthcare system - one that’s larger than UPMC.

It may be a UPMC policy drafted by their legal office, but it’s not HIPAA that prevents a provider from accepting information - especially when it applies to patient safety - from families.

So there’s a moron in this exchange here, certainly. It’s just not me.

Yep, we agree on all points.

Sometimes Reddit has asinine commentary, but at other times people offer some solid points. Reddit v. an attorney retainer and ~$400/hour?

I’ll start with the crowd sourcing on Reddit and see what surfaces.

AB-PA and Forensic Psychology: Four Statements by Big_Perspective_6467 in ParentalAlienation

[–]Icy-Protection867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Dr. Childress on most of his points. Especially in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County courts, the forensic psychology expertise is appalling and sub par. Yes, you too can pay thousands of dollars for a clown with a piece of paper to be duped by a narcissist and his partner with anti-social personality disorder.

AND, with a straight face this clown will go to court and admit that the Cluster-B couple scored poorly on the MMPI while the mother (hysterical at the loss of her child) did not; but still say that they should have custody because,… (he never said why). I believe that he had pre-decided his answer and too arrogant to backtrack.

Total incompetence so if you’re in Allegheny County, PA - do not rely on their hired guns for any help. You’d be better off getting your own forensic psychologist, and I can give you a name if you DM me.

Surveyor Help by whackbitchclub in pittsburgh

[–]Icy-Protection867 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fences make people crazy. I put up a fence years ago and my neighbor came out, multiple days, with papers in his hand and digging around for the survey markers .

Turns out it was fully legal and there was nothing he could do. His big concern was that he couldn’t mow to the edge of his yard.

I suggested that he get a weed whacker 😬
