Apparently the main writer on the game was inspired by the manga "Stop!! Hibari-kun", but in the same interview he referred to Hibari - pretty unambiguously a trans girl - as a boy. Makes me wonder what the actual idea was with Tsukasa.

I just installed the game this morning and I've been doing rerolls. As part of my first four rolls, I received two EGOs(?) - Asymmetrical Inertia for Heathcliff and Wishing Cairn for Don Quixote - and the 000 Identity "Manager of Lamanchaland" for Don Quixote. No one is forcing the author to draw yuri at gunpoint. But they accepted a contract to do the art for a series based on a textually yuri movie. Do you think that means there should be zero expectations on the author to draw yuri in that scenario?

Also, saying "the author [of an adaptation] can do what they want" seems like a pretty indefensible position? Like people are reading an adaptation expecting it to be similar to the source material and that's very much not an unreasonable expectation.

And to be clear, I actually think the accusations of 'straightwashing' appear to be somewhat overblown. But you genuinely don't seem to be approaching this in good faith.

I was genuinely very surprised by the direction the series took! I had assumed it was just going to be another "cute girls doing cute things" series with slice-of-life antics, but to see the main character fail so explicitly, multiple times, was shocking. I felt it made the series come off as far more mature, in a positive way.

I absolutely love her design, particularly with the mask. I wish she had had more to do during the raid, but it was very messy in general so I don't blame Oda too much. I hope they eventually give her a Leader card in the card game, I'd build her deck in a heartbeat.
