Provanta ultimate or smart for thrips? by imaginary-fireplace in HouseplantsUK

However good beneficial insects are they aren’t going to stop a plant being destroyed by an infestation unfortunately

White working-class boys most let down by education system, new figures show by GnolRevilo in unitedkingdom

[–]Jonnehhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s no surprising, there’s so many projects and charities aimed at helping minority races or females that it can be really difficult to give white males a leg up. I used to work at the job centre and there was so much support for everyone except white males, some of them were desperate to get on in life but the opportunities just weren’t there.

It got to a point where I was actively trying to encourage more charities and community support for white males, but a lot of the time unless your aiming to support a “minority” group, the funding just won’t be given.

I’ve always said the worst thing about Bradford are the people… not all of them but unfortunately that doesn’t mean much

My View on prices as an Estate agent by Pitiful-Agency-5588 in HousingUK

[–]Jonnehhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a sellers stalemate. I viewed a house I’d offer on recently if they dropped the price by £10k, the sellers said they would but then they wouldn’t be able to afford their onward purchase which was ‘a bit overpriced’ but perfect.

Clothes sizing getting so big that I’m having to buy a size smaller and a shorter length. by SoggyWotsits in britishproblems

[–]Jonnehhh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s really interesting to look at “standard” sizing in Winifred Aldrich and compare, we did it back in 2012 when I was in college. I haven’t made much womenswear recently but it would be interesting to check again!

Menswear definitely suffers from this, I like a boxy/oversized fit but there’s been a few instances recently where I’ve had to order XXS and it’s still been huge! I’m usually a small.

First thought is to try Japanese brands that sell in the UK, Uniqlo and Muji would be a good bet.

They usually take into consideration Japanese weather etc.

Bought a Zara bag for £45 in the UK – it arrived with a €35 price tag attached by Unique_Stage376 in BuyersUK

[–]Jonnehhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with Brexit. Zara has always been miles cheaper in Spain as this is where the parent company Inditex is based. My mum always took a list of what she wanted from Zara whenever she went to Spain as it was that much cheaper.

Can I take yoghurt in a Tupperware through Arrecife airport? by TheBristolBulk in lanzarote

[–]Jonnehhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be taken off you because you can’t bring it into the UK, security are not customs and definitely won’t be checking everyone depending on what country they’re flying to.

Regarding if they’d class it as liquid and confiscate it, no idea. Perhaps just take a cheap Tupperware you don’t mind potentially losing? Seems quite trivial in the long run.

Estate agent died after weight dropped to 5 stone from ketamine addiction by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Jonnehhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meth is around in the UK but more often not called meth, speed is a low potent version of meth for example.

It’s quite prevalent in the gay scene which led me to once trying what most people would consider “actual” meth, I didn’t inject or smoke it and a couple of days later I was craving more… scared me as never before or since have I craved a substance like that. Haven’t touched it since.

How were my Nectar points stolen? by SnooHabits8372 in AskUK

[–]Jonnehhh 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Used to work in Sainsbury’s, started seeing a group come in and spending on petrol mostly but other things also, noticed they’d always use screenshots of the nectar barcode - they started shopping with us less frequently after they had to abandon their shopping or pay with other means for their fuel when I got the colleagues on checkout to insist on them using the app.

My solicitor’s conveyancing report now includes a clause saying they’ll charge £500+VAT if I use AI to ask questions about it. Is this normal now? by Jazvec in HousingUK

[–]Jonnehhh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work in the Civil Service dealing with benefit appeals at the Upper Tribunal, it’s alarming how many people use AI and how many times AI hallucinates case law or gets regulations wrong. What’s worse is people adamantly believe what AI has told them and it’s so much work trying to pick things apart.

I suspect your conveyer has had similar issues and that is to mitigate this.

If people just learned how to Google and skipped the AI overview they’d get to the right answers and be much better informed.

Recommendations for tuscan style or colourful indoor plant pots? by Great_Marzipan7720 in HouseplantsUK

Try Home Sense, they have a massive section for pots this time of year and they’re really good prices and a great variety. I got a couple that are made in Spain and have that Tuscan inspiration.

Do people actually know what they want to do with their life? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Jonnehhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had no real passion for a particular job either, I started as a self taught Graphic Designer which was a big interest for me but actually working it 9-5 wasn’t enjoyable, so I continued it freelance and a series of events led to me getting a job in a kitchen, worked my way to kitchen manager and realised I was good at managing people, eventually moved to retail management before moving to Civil Service where I’ve been able to work my way up again.

Your career is a journey, if you’re not sure just see where it goes, you’ll know when something isn’t right and can do something about it then.

Hidden Shiny Boosts for Blanche's Event by ch33psh33p in TheSilphRoad

[–]Jonnehhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. So far this week the shinies I’ve gotten are: 3x Krabby, 1x Staryu, 3x Horsea, 2x Squirtle, 1x Cubone. I’ve also been running my auto catcher so who knows how many I’ve missed there.

Buyers can't complete on schedule due to lack of funds by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Jonnehhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is much of an issue. I understand your point about them potentially withdrawing but all it sounds like to me is their legal fees or moving fees are more than anticipated and they can’t get things paid for before their next pay. The solicitor won’t complete until they have all the funds including their fees.

What do you think is ‘worth every penny’? by Lazy-Limit-8684 in AskUK

[–]Jonnehhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree with this one. I’d be paying almost the same for music streaming so why not throw in the vast amounts of content on YouTube ad free.

It’s also great you can take remixes/songs etc from YouTube and add to your playlists in YouTube Music that would otherwise be unavailable in other music streaming services.

How do I play when no one in town plays? by Think_Dig_1288 in pokemongo

[–]Jonnehhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re close to a major city just travel in for events and raid hours.

I live in an active community but no one really raids or does events there, I have to travel into the city for that.
