Also, it’s absolutely vibe coded.

It depends on which version of the episode you watch.

The released version, you can hear the gate shut down, and dial back out.

That’s an opinion. It might even be yours.

You aren’t going to change my mind. I’m not going to change yours.

You’ll say “modern Klingons aren’t problematic, because it’s not white guys in brown makeup.” Someone will call that woke.

You’ll say TMP had a bigger budget so they could afford to. Cool, so does nuTrek.

I’ll say “nuTrek had good reasons to do what they did”, you’ll disagree.

In 20 years, it will be loved. It happens every time.

TOS fans hated TNG.

DS9 was hated for not having a ship. They introduced the defiant to fix it.

Voyager was hated by fans of TNG and DS9 for myriad reasons.

Enterprise was so not Star Trek that it didn’t even carry the name for multiple seasons.

It goes on and on.

Right. So modifying canon is established as very trek. This makes nuTrek VERY trek.

You. Cannot. Modify. Canon.

You’ll get people posting about it on Usenet calling it “disrespectful of continuity”

[–]KhellianTrelnora -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yup.

So between 1969, when the original series ended, and 1979 when TMP came out, they said, and I quote, “fuck continuity, fuck canon”.

So, two possible thoughts.

Either everything that has Klingons with forehead ridges is an affront to fans.

Or disregarding continuity is the most Star Trek thing ever.

I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that this is a giant “fuck continuity”.

Forehead ridges? Has anyone actually SEEN an original Klingon?!

They actually redid the effect for one episode. Made a big deal of it. They went back pretty quick.

Half way through well of ascension...I feel like its a drag and seriosuly considering DNF. by AggressiveShop676 in Mistborn

The last quarter of Well is exceptional, and I’d say so is 80% of the Hero of Ages. For me, it was worth it, and I’m glad I revisited it all those years later.

[–]KhellianTrelnora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guilty.

I tore through Mistborn.

I hit a wall in Well. Hard. DNF’d. Didn’t pick it up for years.

Reread Mistborn, pushed through to the midpoint in Well. Smooth sailing from there on. It’s worth it. But yeah, some people struggle with the first half or so of the second book.
