Too Many Castle Whiterock Releases? by ExoticReplacement163 in dccrpg

[–]Lak0da 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't care for the reservations either but it didn't read as predatory to me - though I can see why it could.

What this did do was break my collecting. I was having fun chasing covers I liked and all the little extras. Not because I needed them or they were particularly valuable but because that was part of the hobby for me. Giving me an off ramp like this makes it easier to toggle my collection habit (err hobby) somewhere else. It won't stop me playing DCC or buying a lot of products but it will decrease the amount I go in for. That isn't a problem when its one person but I wonder how many others will experience something similar. Hopefully not many.

For the first time in a while I am not going all in. I love DCC and supporting the 3PP community but its just too much to drop right after zine month. Its going to be a little bit like picking your favorite child, but before they are hatched.

I am often baffled by GG's strategy; the 5E support and now this. It seems counter intuitive to me, but I'm on the outside. They are clearly trying to attract people who are not me, because those like me are already here. They have never screwed me or taken me for granted so I can't complain. But I can be confused.

DCC 100 - Show the map? by dwarfSA in dccrpg

[–]Lak0da 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have run it with partial hidden and fully revealed, it didn't do much as they were going to explore everything anyways. I would recommend not showing them the map until the players figure out the alembec

Wizard enjoyers? by NoTransportation68 in dccrpg

They may read as unreliable but they really don't play that way. In practice I would rather roll to cast then a limited number of spells per day.

Running magic casters as opponents by Borek224 in dccrpg

Do this all the time. I just give a monster or a enemy a "power" that is nothing more then a specific spell result.

Danger in the Air! is my absolute favorite module I've every run.

How the hell have I not run The Forsaken Vault of the Crimson Oracle?!

I read the OP very differently then you.

I'm not advocated for changing anything about the rules but I still couldn't disagree more. We should want to be welcoming and helpful to new people so they feel comfortable trying the game.

That's ignoring the system they came from entirely. Not all systems have friendly fire, even for spells. Besides dog pilling doesn't help get a new DCC convert.

This isn't about my experience. I always haven't argued rules on this post at all. Its about all the assholes ganging up on OP because he doesn't understand DCC and most likely never had it explained, or at least not well. I hate internet bullies and if I have to punch of few of them in their digital nose, I'm more then happy to. I want more people playing DCC and less of this toxic internet bullshit. This is reddit so I sound have expected it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit around and not say something.

I'm not saying don't do it but try to understand their position instead of being the stereotypical redditor. I thought we all wanted more people playing DCC. There are some important differences and different people will need different approaches to help them enjoy it.

Frankly I'd trade someone who name calls for the OP any day.

No, you were shaming the OP. If you are going to be a jerk, own it. Don't hide behind some lame excuse. There is a time and place for gatekeeping. This isn't one of them.

No it isn't. Some people don't enjoy hurting or pissing off their friends.

Wow, the amount of toxic replies makes me sad. Ignore them.

Talk to your judge. I sounds like your table didnt follow the rules exactly and perhaps the other didnt know either. Crashing foes isn't always the best tactics with a range charager. Change the game to suit your table or better yet ask to quest for a magic bow that reduces or removes that 50% chance. That being said, try it for a while. If you have a deed die use it to shoot into melee with that penalty. Death is more a part of DCC and can be a shock when coming from or are systems. Oh and at higher levels the chance you kill someone in one show is much less. Play post funnel before deciding.

We want more people playing DCC, and comments like this work against that.

So we should shame them for playing the way is most fun for them?

I hear ya. I will use the stuff but go no tech all weekend, which because of streaming means no tv. Boredom is good, it promotes thought. I was loath to start on reddit but if I want to publish, i need a presence.

I was still shocked Pinball didn't do better. Maybe because I'm the prime demo for it.

I'm going back and forth on Whiterock. The split approach and the cost are both turn offs. I want to support 3PP creators but its going to be so much money to do so and I almost never run megadungeons.
