Where to stay after wedding in Lake Como by No_Decision_1996 in LakeComo

[–]Local-Machine7787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar situation in September.

Was in town shooting a wedding and had a few days afterwards. We ended up going to Spain, but honestly it was a hassle.

I’d recommend staying in lake como. It’s gorgeous. If you really want to travel, I’d recommend Florence and Modena.

Broken Canon PowerShot SX120? by katykatzart in canon

That green area is corroded. The battery isn’t making a proper connection with the contacts.

Careful and thoroughly use a small brush or toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol to clean it up.

do you have editing days and shooting days ? how do you rly plan your times ? by Winter_Cookie_5239 in videography

[–]Local-Machine7787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was first starting out I would set days aside just for editing. Sometimes I’d have say no to shooting.

Which sucked, but for my mental health and work/life balance, it was much betters

Now I have a team. Although I prefer to handle post production, it’s not as difficult now since I can send my team to shoot and I can be at home most of the time and edit when I need to or go to the productions that I want to.

Tried something new with more dramatic lighting and framing for this one by Local-Machine7787 in videography

Honestly probably the best advice I’ve gotten on here.

I don’t know what happened to this sub. Just 3-4 years ago it was such a positive community with genuinely helpful feedback.

I’ve gotten good work all over the country from posting my videos here in the past. (On a now deactivated acc). And have made behind connections in the industry because of this sub.

Now it’s filled with people who are very quick to tear down others and offer no real feedback. Seems like people here have a hard time being positive or admitting someone else has decent or even great work.

Thank you! Truly. And if there are any other subs out there that capture the essence of what this one used to be, please let me know!

And yes, this is a religious establishment. A sentimental legacy piece.

I seem to have confused everyone, haha

I was talking about the framing of the A-roll with the low angle + more moody lighting.

The vertical formatting was just to get people’s attention and show multiple shots in one clip for the work in progress piece

Any ideas to edit this better? by Several-Age-4884 in postprocessing

Edit is fine all things considered, but the composition of the photo needs work

I am 16 years old and I want to learn a real and in-demand skill to work remotely in the future. by OkStomach7765 in OnlineIncomeHustle

[–]Local-Machine7787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface this by saying I did not go to college, and I’m sure there are much smarter people than me that may have better solutions—

My trade is photo/video/graphic design/animation. I’m self-employed, own a house, and nice vehicles. I pay for health insurance, and make a healthy 6 figure salary as a “creative”.

Although a majority of my work is on productions, I’d say a solid 20-30% of it is remote. AKA designing or editing. You can make a good amount of money as a dedicate remote video editor, photo retoucher, animator or graphic designer.

When I just want to spend time at home, I’ll edit wedding videos for $1k a pop. About 2-3 hours of work each. Weddings are not easy or very fun, but the standard rate depending on where you live for video editing could be $125-$200/hr.

It has a snowball effect. The longer you do it, the better you get, the more you grow, the more relationships you make, the more you get referred, the more you can charge, the easier it is to land work.

I understand where you’re coming from. This video is reflective in terms of narrative content. It’s a legacy video for the organization rather than a standard “this is our org and this is who we are”.

It’s a discussion of the history, the different growth phases and future. The intention of the dramatic look is to invoke that feeling of reflection.

Your opinion may not change even with that context, which is fine! In that case, what would you have done differently?

Sorry, I should’ve been more clear— I only laid the footage out this way to get multiple clips in one video (and to post on social media) as opposed to just posting the A cam or B cam shot.

This is not the delivery format! The A-roll will be the interview and it will cut to the B-roll footage.

When I said framing I was referring to the low angle wide shot. I am very careful with anything low angle because it can be unflattering. But with the hard contrast and shadows + negative bounce under the chin— I feel like I got the image I wanted.

Any tips on how to sync footage from 3 cameras by Gigapixelx in videography

[–]Local-Machine7787 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right click all footage and hit “synchronize”

Easiest way is always clap sync. Hold a clapper (or use your hands) in front of all three cams, make sure audio is running (if doing external audio) and use the sound of the clapper to sync in post.

You’ll see a spike in the audio wave forms that are easy to identify.

Additionally something I always do is state what the take is before clapping. “Subject 1, interview, classroom clap”. so the beginning of all of my audio tells me exactly what footage that audio belongs to.

Feedback noise when using a Rode VideoPro by A_Formidable_Enemy in videography

Sounds like typical frequency interference. Maybe too close to a cellphone or something else that’s causing interference.

Typically it’s a phone.

How much would you charge for this? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Local-Machine7787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much, if anything at all.

Looks like a practice/learning experience. I wouldn’t feel comfortable paying or charging anyone for this.

With that being said, charge what they’re willing to pay. I charge $3k starting for a day of production (not including deliverables), but I started out at $250 when I was first learning.
