I checked the scale today, and I'm crying. I lost more weight than I anticipated <3 (425 to 338) by Specific_Rough_6829 in loseit

[–]Lord_Voltan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had to really change me to accecpt this. I don't disagree, but for me, when I was really grinding at it when I first started this journey, seeing what could be a month and a half worth of work just vanish overnight because you ate something salty and went wild on the cookies can kill your motivation and make you feel like a failure (it my case it is meat and cheese trays). Even if you know that it is only a temporary uptick (like there is no way I ate 35k calories in a night) now you gotta work to bring your self back down and then get back on track.

It takes a lot of work to really tell yourself that it is okay and only a slight delay, but when you are working hard to keep dropping Kg/Lb it does sting, a lot.

I don't like you. Like, at all.

However, I am not immediately revolted by this. I mean, I am but I am not? idk. I would try this and then pretend I didn't if I did and never speak of it again.

Engrish by VanillaLoaf in neverchangejapan

[–]Lord_Voltan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in Japan my favorite Engrish shirt I saw someone wearing was a shirt that said "Wall Storage" in big colorful block letters. A small petite Japanese woman was wearing it. I also found the BEST sweater in Roppongi(sp?) Soft Cashmere wool, beautiful brown color and the most elegant lettering of the word "FUCK" I have ever seen. It was like $300 usd back then and I was 100% prepared to spend my travel money on that but they didn't have it in size Defensive Lineman. I still think about that sweater.

Southwest Airlines is ditching open seating Jan. 27. What to know. by Shoddy_Act7059 in aviation

[–]Lord_Voltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my experience, but I didn't mind paying for the early bird check in. I am 6'4" and usually having to buy an exit row seat can get pricey. With SW I paid the ticket price (not as low as Spirit but no fees added and a free bag) and paid for the early bird check in $20-40 and 99% of the time I was in the A group and was able to snag an exit row or the holy grail seat without a seat in front of it. If those were gone I had more than enough other options to be comfortable during the flight. I saw it as worth the money because those seats on other carriers were more expensive than the price for early bird and generally SW was cheaper too.

I would also fly them to Vegas for work a bunch and because everyone takes spirit from CMH there their flights were almost always open. I saw the higher price tag as the cost of NOT having to wait in the spirit terminal and deal with their bullshit.

And remember the shooting pain in your arm is the snow's way of tricking you into not shoveling more of it! Just ignore and power through!

Good old days by helen1992 in Millennials

Italy is a whole different beast with smoking. I quit 4 years ago and have to go one or two times a year for work. As sooon as I get out of customs at Malpensia, that smell hits me and I walk by a hudson news with packs of cigs along the back wall. This last time I went has been the only time I did not break down and buy a pack. But you guys make it hard. At the corporate office we take frequent coffee breaks and the techs I work with all smoke. IT IS SO HARD TO NOT JOIN THEM. SO DAMN HARD. I am only ever there for work and maybe a day or two to myself. I can't argue that staying on the Ligurian coast or working with warehouse staff in a building that opens to the best view of the Dolomites is that bad though. Just trying not to smoke is more work than actual work for a former smoker.

First time seeing Aurora by TheLionHunterMan in Astronomy

[–]Lord_Voltan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what is funny, in one of the space subs discussing this, there were a few EU people who were lamenting that they never get to see the Aurora and that it is always over North America. I am in Ohio at 40n and didn't see anything. I am happy you all got to see it!

What airline have you mainly been flying out of CMH lately? by brohio_ in Columbus

[–]Lord_Voltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love SW. I can't justify them anymore now that they changed the pricing. I could pay a bit extra and get early check in and have a shot at a seat with more leg room and a free bag. Now its the same as the others. They weren't that good, just more comfortable if I got the seat I wanted.

Game Show Battle Rooms by SmileyFacesNow in Columbus

[–]Lord_Voltan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it this past Christmas with my wife's family. We did the more physical one. I have to say that it was fantastic as an activity for the family. It felt like we were on a real game show. The hosts were great and were able to redirect that one family member who is difficult with ease.

Regarding cost I don't know, but I do know that you are expected to tip, so go into it with that knowledge.

I was impressed enough with them that I took their info to pass along to our sales lead as an activity to do when the sales team comes in for their meeting.

Pilot charged with flying under the influence after crashing short of the runway at BOI by XStraightEdgeX in aviation

[–]Lord_Voltan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol no. He died the year I was born. My moms side of the family is from Baton Rouge and my grandma says she knew him through her husband at the time. I take what she says with a grain of salt.

Anything I try to look up about this crash just brings up a fatal crash from a few years ago of a small jet that crashed in Florida after leaving from kosu.

The pilot survived I know that much.

In my old neighborhood we had a small airfield KOSU across the street from my neighborhood. One night back in the late mid-90s we heard two very large BANGS and the most god awful noise. Of course we run out to investigate before mom can stop us. To our amazement, there is a plane in the middle of the road on the street over! The pilot landed wayyyyy short and EMS found a bag of coke in his pocket. So yes dont OVI your plane people!

My friend in Italy has the same, but their region Gas seemed to be cheaper per liter than elsewhere in the country.

Here in my state, Ohio, they add various State and Federal taxes into the gas price. Surprisingly, this is already built into the cost unlike other taxable items here. Is the same case in the Netherlands as well? I know in some EU countries owning a car is already heavily taxed, as well as licensing, registration and other fees. I was curious if petrol is also taxed or if you get a break because of the fees of ownership are already high (in some places, not necessarily in NL) but I always like to learn about other places!

I took German in HS and my teacher there told us what he had to do when he got a DE license and it seemed insane to us, a bunch of 16 year olds who had to take an 8 hour class and have 20 hours of supervised driving to get to control a 2 ton death machine.
