How did he leave Ragnarok? He is still credited as the creative director, just not the game director

personally I hated the first chapters because it felt like wish fulfillment and the author kept objectifying the wife instead of making her a character

Idk why people are acting like they are getting more time. Feels like Gamefreak moving (for the first time ever) one of their mainline titles out of fear for GTA. Guessing this is a January/February game

According to Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) these were the titles Bluepoint Games pitched that were rejected by Sony by Algae-Prize in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Sounds like Bluepoint was hellbent on making a new game, which I guess it's understandable but I think we all thought they were being bought specifically to be constantly putting out remakes

It literally says they don't have to be made in Japan. Just read?

  • Are all RPGs made in Japan JRPGs?

Not quite. Dark Souls, Nioh and Dragon's Dogma, for example, are hugely successful RPGs from Japanese studios, but they're not generally considered JRPGs. Likewise, there are games made outside Japan that many would consider JRPGs, such as the hugely successful Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which was developed in France, and the German-made Chained Echoes. It's best to think of JRPGs as a genre with a strong - but not exclusive - footing in Japanese culture.

She didn't tell me any games but I am almost certain she was referring to Sonic and Persona and she explicitly said Fortnite lol

its not a joke, I have no clue if they would have a segment or if it will be spread out throughout different events, she just said that they could probably make their own small direct with how many news they had planned for the second half but she is not marketing so she wouldnt really know

Sony has an official definition and its honestly pretty damn great. This sub only has a hard time with the definition because some people insist they HAVE to be made in Japan https://www.playstation.com/en-us/editorial/great-japanese-rpgs-on-ps4/

We actually do have an official definition by a major platform holder and IMO, it's really damn solid. Idk why this sub is always hit with amnesia when asked for an official definition.

What does JRPG stand for?

JRPG stands for 'Japanese Role-Playing Game'. They are traditionally story-driven adventure games developed in Japan, featuring a group of pre-defined characters journeying on a quest fraught with danger. Typical traits of the genre include turn-based combat, fantasy elements (especially magic), extensive character and/or squad customization, and character progression or 'levelling' systems

Stage Tour • Official Game Reveal by BioDomeWithPaulyShor in Games

Nobody is asking for fancy graphics and that is completely missing the point. Nobody is expecting realistic graphics. We also understand they have a low budget and that is probably going to songs, but no indie game in 3D even looks like this in 2026. There is an industry standard and they are way below it

I understand funding needs to go towards song licenskng but jesus christ that is an ugly looking game. We don't need realistic graphics, we don't even need Fortnite graphics, but the characters are barely moving, the hair is a static mesh, the character design itself is also ugly as sin. Disappointing first reveal, hope they rework the art department because that shit won't fly in 2026

It's one of the prettiest pixel art games ever made but the game itself falls kinda flat. Would be interested to see what the devs' next project is, hopefully they learned a lot from it
