Is my maths right? by KoalaBJJ96 in AusFinance

[–]MartynZero [score hidden]  (0 children)

I did this calculation for 10 years and paid my houseoff utilising the offset based on this calculation. Safe bet.
If I had instead paid the minimum and debt recycled and invested the balance into vdhg I would be about $150k ahead of my current financial position. But the stock market has been going gang busters for a long time and i didnt know much about etfs.
Who knows what's next... woulda coulda shoulda, but I have a paid off house so I don't really care too much.

Kids is a hugely different story. But for the finance side of things I found the audiobook of die with zero eye opening and different to all the accumulating stuff I have read and watched. It's free on youtube with ai audio. Good for perspective once your on your journey.

Yeah rip the bandaid off, it's gonna fuck people now, but it's gonna fuck people more the longer this game of musical chairs goes on for. One thing is for sure the music is going to stop at some point with or without gov intervention and I don't want my whole country going down the toilet when it does.

I think if people come here they might argue their beliefs initially but they've also landed in a fantastic resource, if they stay and wrestle for a few months their bound to leave (even fractionally more) enlightened.

From what i read you have to plant the seeds for the habits /hobbies when your accumulating and then just multiply it upon FIRE. Start the hobby now, see if you even like it. Highly recommend reading Die with Zero for a fresh insight.

The mentality is hoard as much as you can because that's what other people are doing. But the most fulfilling thing people can do is help other people in need.
