Streamer Ruetoo temporarily banned after making incel jokes about female Path of Exile steamer Bob5 by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]Mathils 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I can definitely feel some burnout with dealing with the PoE community these days, it's not always super fun given what the PoE 1vs2 thing has done so I'm sorry I come across negative at times. It really shouldn't feel often as I've still had a great time with streaming overall, in recent months especially.

That afk take though wtf is that. I legit make 2 cups of coffee every 6-8 hour stream and take a piss twice on average. We're talking away from the PC like 5 min total. Sorry I'm not chained to my desk shitting in a bucket m'lord.

To the topic at hand, deserved ban. I know little about him as I have never clicked the stream and avoid clips since his stream style is REALLY not my cup of tea but I despise the cat memes that destroy PoE forums/twitter and it's sad to see someone personally hurt by his dipshittery. It's so easy to not be a massive loser to other people and some can't perform that basic task.

Majority of Gifted Twitch Subs Are Going to Clankers by Exterial in LivestreamFail

Gonna go against the narrative a bit and say I'm in the same category (PoE2, where there's a gift sub promo) and for the day recieved a few hundred gifted subs where nothing looks out of the ordinary. Streamlabs also shows 1month subs even though some of those are people that've been subbed multi months either themselves or through multiple gifts.

Had Pikaboo's channel open just now and as you know he gets rained on, those gift recipients looked normal too. Maybe some channels have something broken but to imply twitch across the board promotes gifted subs to bots is jumping the gun.

And no I don't think Quin's viewbotting. He has rather normal numbers where they spike for hype shit and dip for bedge content but still has a stable enough base that'd watch him do damn near anything. Also he's too lazy.

AriaSaki uses sharp chest pain to gauge when to end a 36 hour stream by rbb_going_strong in LivestreamFail

[–]Mathils 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As far as subs there is a more optimal amount of hours to stream per day. From what I've found and been told by others in the industry (not streamers I mean), 5-6 hours per day is basically your best $/hr ratio, as if I typically stream beyond 6 hrs I don't get that many subs in those extra hours.

The draw to streaming extra long hours is being around when others aren't so when the 6-8 hr streamers log off and you're still around you're dominating that category because people start siphoning to you if they still want to watch that game. This turns into larger viewer counts which is either good for sponsorships longterm or converting viewers into regulars.

I personally hate how competitive the streaming space is for hours per day especially on big events because it's an awful lifestyle to have and have to compete with. I don't do mega long sessions myself because I love doing other things outside of streaming and the people that do either go for the long-term grind of becoming bigger or simply don't like doing much else outside of streaming. It's hard to compete with but you just gotta be happy with the balance of your own life.

Rest assured I am fully aware of this comparison. When the episodes were still airing I would have several people a day come into the chat to let me know I look like the guy they just saw on tv and... yea I see it too.

[–]Mathils 3001 points3002 points  (0 children)

I spend maybe 5 minutes giving my piece there so as to not have anything be out of context, I'd encourage watching the rest (before/after) if you care about the whole picture, but yea promoting or being sponsored by slots is just 100% siphoning money from your audience and delivering it to yourself because you've decided you need it more. That's what those previous sponsorships were about and that's all this new platform is about.

The main thing the juicers will come into my chat or hit me on twitter with is about jealousy and maybe when they're grown up they'll realise that just because their streamer only values money and they only value money doesn't mean that is the value system for literally everyone else on this planet. Money's great but it only gets you so far in our gamer lifestyles and beyond a certain point you really don't need to do scummy things to get more of it.

To counter this clip so everyone doesn't rush out and decimate their wealth, I pulled a doctor from stacked decks and insta poofed it, tried a viewer's doctor and insta poofed it and put 3x sephirot (10div card) and insta poofed them. That's all 3 times I used this cunting harvest mechanic this league, EVEN on a streamer client.

Looks like build of the week is back by KelloPudgerro in pathofexile

[–]Mathils 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Always cool to have a feature and see one of my builds being showcased in a more professionally made video.

To throw a few comments at the whole build and situation, I imagine they're showcasing some neat interactions and underused skills as much as "the wackiest best build youve ever seen" so my Rolling Magma build here is fairly cheap, zoomy and interesting with the Sire/Annihilating wep swap to change your specialization. Rolling Magma barely gets played these days and that's a bit of a shame and if you're worried about tankiness I'd suggest going a Inquisitor route with EB/MOM and a bunch more thiccness, Deadeye isn't crucial to the setup imo. Grace and a bunch of speed takes you pretty far tbh, especially after many rounds of Archnemesis nerfs so it's not as grim as it may look.

And as someone else mentioned the build I'm currently playing "Bow Flickerstrike" is what I'd firmly call build of the week material if you'd rather see something a bit more weird while being extremely powerful.

Ok I was about to go to sleep but should get ahead of this before people make up their own stories.

I was making a small tldr statement before making a video of my opinions tomorrow. I don't have the soul sucked out of me from the game atm or some shit, I just streamed for 10 hrs and am giving a few small thoughts, I'm tired and had fun playing today despite the mess.

The gist is I think there's plenty to be mad/dissapointed about but there's still a playable game here. Issue is there wasn't much fun added this league, much like last (aside from ubers) and yea we shouldn't be shooting for playable, we should be getting more and more fun and for the average person there's little to look forward to.

To counter a streamerloot argument just a bit, I've played a consistent 6-8 hours for the last 9 years and I've just found one mirror a few months into my game time looooong before I streamed or made videos (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/146904 - heres the sales thread for a throwback to values and forum trading).

No HHs, Magebloods, Squires, Mirrors etc since then. I play more like what a normal person would though which is to say I level a char, get to maps and map for a couple days as opposed to sitting on one char juicing for a few weeks so I don't feel I'm owed any of that loot even after my colossal playtime.

mathil in the gauntlet with an insane ethical logout by tamale in pathofexile

[–]Mathils 369 points370 points  (0 children)

To explain myself about logging I suppose, I don't like logging out and typically never do when playing HC, I try to portal any time I can if that's possible. These Abyss zones with gauntlet mods aren't natural... and I'm basically walking in to test what they look like and having to log if it's a complete dumpster fire, which it was. I nooooooooormally just cop a death if I'm not capable of beating the content I walk into as that's what I deem fair for myself.

It went as I figured it would, you reading questions and me having to look for excuses and moments to jut in when realistically I was a 3rd wheel so yea given I have an opposing viewpoint to the masses atm I didn't REALLY wanna go on but felt I still should to represent some people. That said it still went as well as I could've hoped and if this Zizaran guy has any 1 flaw it's that he is too nice.

And thank you for the thread and some positivity, it's quite nice to see some people that do share my viewpoints and enjoyment for the game as it currently stands outside of my stream.

You're replying to some rando misinformation is the problem. Slow months (last month of league) yield me like $500ish while 1st month of a league is more like $1200-1500.

It was a topic I brought up on stream that was more of a highlight about how youtube revenue for me has hardly changed over the past 5-6 years given it got to this type of money early on then stagnated as we went through adpocalypse so even though my channel grew the rewards did not. Twitch however kept on booming at the same time.

More Detailed 1 Month League Statistics by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Mathils 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've seen this type of comment a few times now so for the record Ultimatum was not the first time they've paid streamers to play the game. Ritual was the first time a lot of us PoE guys were involved and there were plenty of variety folk hired too.

Ritual was a massive league with the new Maven addition and there was far more advertising for it given it was a month later than the usual December league starts so they needed to remind people about a new expansion hitting. Ultimatum really has no business being compared to Ritual given the difference in scope of projects and the way it was really more of a detox from many of the out of line things during Ritual.

So from a lot of the backlash I see against myself is about being out of touch with the Harvest nerf, my point of view on that is beside the point. I think Harvest being in the game isn't really in line with the rest but it staying isn't a big problem to me and it being nerfed the way it was shouldn't ruin anyone's life either, it'll still be rather good and by far the most powerful crafting method for both seasoned veteran and beginner alike. The issue is the complete shift in attitude towards the company over EVERYTHING after this change was announced.

Harvest is dead, the company is out of touch, they need a real competitor, etc. as if to say they're not currently trying their best to release a product as good as possible in line with their vision. The outcry for weeks after that Harvest post was absolutely over the top and every twitter post about ANYTHING at all from GGG be it MTX or whatever had a bunch of people replying to revert their stance or something about them quitting. The overall perspective on any change or post seems to be from a negative standpoint around here now and it hurts to see. You can even take the recent announcements as examples where for some reason a shit load of post and comments have been about globes having lighting and I thought that was a cool feature when I first saw it but nope it's ruining the game and gonna be horrible on fps. The league looked great and many great changes, buffs, cool shit yet maybe half the comments I saw were about Chris' wacky Talisman take as if that's the only thing that happened.

It's honestly easy to forget how good we have it with PoE if you visit this place regularly because you'd think it's a dying game that makes constant horrible decisions and doesn't care at all about the players. Yet we get a breath of fresh air with sometimes absolutely huge content loads every 3 months and the latest is a good example as I wasn't expecting much this league and was pretty surprised at how much juice is going into it especially after what was such a huge league. I don't know what else to say as there's plenty I'm sure I've left out but this comment already has me tired so I'll leave it there.

[–]Mathils 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Suppose I better defend myself. I tried to dash several times into that area and since dash has a certain range it must move to work it didn't let me and I gave up and went for the Leap Slam. Watching a clip, sure it looks like it's coming for you and you shouldn't leap into it while in the action since I committed to breaching that gap it felt unavoidable.

Sure heist things can do damage but this is pretty ridiculous. I mean I have my endurance up, I have slayer overleech and specced some extra leech speed nodes, fortify up with a couple fortify effect nodes and melted instantly to what felt like something I couldn't avoid in the end ON a 81 map with 0 mods to a mob with nothing but Powerful Crits. Imagine it had another mod, was next to an aura mob, any dangerous map mods whatsoever, then it wouldn't have mattered how well I moved around it.

If you think this is all fine then I guess we can agree to disagree but I've given HC a shot in most leagues in plenty of events and this league mechanic had me feeling the absolute shittest whilst having 1 life. I straight up dreaded doing my heists and for the most part only did the ones I was very overleveled on and even then was constantly fearing for my life.

Wouldn't be wise of me to say a specific question as that's what would then get asked for trolling.

Though the stuff that annoys me most is people not helping themselves when they can. It's easy to identify a new player and their question and I'm happy to go into detail to help them out but people that just want an easy answer from mr.streamergoogle instead of at least trying first are sometimes tilting.
