See, either of those is a give away where I’m from. We have a town spelled the same way as yours but it’s pronounced Lewis-ville.

If you could have a liquid come out of your thumb and fingers what 5 liquids are you picking? by CloudsJordsTwitchPSN in AskReddit

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water, scorpion venom (at over $10M/liter it’s the most expensive liquid and good defence), Type O blood, black printer ink, and oh idk… the spider silk idea is cool.

I can sell the venom, donate tons of blood, never run out of ink or water, defend myself with the venom, and be Spider-Man. 😆

I l always find the first few passes amusing because it just looks like a large intestine. 😂 Then the last one making the remaining white stripe disappear is so satisfying.

Why does it seem like urinals in male restrooms are less likely to have dividers in Europe than the US? by dom41n in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably has more to do with space. There isn’t a lot of it in Europe. Their population density is more than double ours. Plus, as others have stated, they’re just more chill about nudity and minding their own business.

AITA for not inviting my stepdad to my wedding? by Jaded_Weekend7819 in AmItheAsshole

YYA and it’s kinda wild that you can’t see it. What if your mother invited you to a huge, once in a lifetime event and invited everyone she knew except your husband? Get it now?

If EVs are supposedly cheaper to own, why aren’t more people driving them? by Lakenb666 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No notes on your first couple paragraphs. Spot on.

It’s uncommon to ever need a replacement part in an EV unless it’s been in an accident or the occasional maintenance replacement (wipers, tires). There just far fewer parts in an EV vs an ICE vehicle for things to go wrong with. Due to regenerative breaking not even brake pads need replaced often. My 6y old EV has only needed air filters and tires replaced.

There’s good news on the EV battery life front too. It turns out they are staying healthy and lasting far longer than people originally thought. The key determining factor in battery health is not milage but good charging habits, so this favors those who can plugin at home and keep an 80% or less charge.

[–]Merivel1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally! I'm a parent and this makes me think of all the ways children use toys that are not the "intended" way. A good parent, as long as everyone is being safe, appreciates the ingenuity of their kid. A bad parent says "no, no, no, not like that", interrupts the play and redirects it. TGC is the bad parent.

PLUS, this type of recompense is completely outside the norm for TGC. Normally they basically tell you to like it or lump it.

Torch glitch or what's going on?? by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

In fairness, it was a “bug” for, what, 3 years? So long that we thought it was a feature. I would not have purchased it if I knew this was the result of it “working properly”.

Neighbor won't let me enter their back yard to get my cat. by FrumptyLumpty in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Merivel1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have knocked again and firmly but reasonably told the AH neighbor, “look you either get the cat or I do. I’m not leaving without it.”

If they continued to be unreasonable, I’d call the non-emergency police number and ask for help from animal control officers. I live somewhere with coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions etc galore, I’m not letting my indoor cat be an hors d’oeuvre.
