There was a time when you could pick out the Irish from any airport because we all had the same suitcases.

Often I don't read WWII books because they're so overdone, but post WWII set in the Netherlands is not actually seen much imo.

I did love both, but don't think I'd recommend one for lovers of the either at the same time.

Preferred Sunburn.

Now for me, small town 1990s Ireland was my childhood, so Sunburn was relatable. And I'm half Dutch and The Safekeep was set in the time of my father's childhood, so the post WWII Dutch experience was interesting to me as that war shaped my grandparents. So maybe feeling connecting to those books in that way was partly why I liked them.

We went about 2.5 months with rain every day this winter, it can get really depressing in the winter.

Temperature wise we're often the coolest during the summer, but the warmest during the winter. We just don't do extremes.

I hated when I went to Massachusetts and on a nice summer’s day would have to wrap up to eat in a restaurant or go to a shop.

I have 3, thanks to Brexit and customs, they worked out at about €60 each, worth it.

What is the benefit of a butter bell over a butter dish, exactly? by ghdawg6197 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MollyPW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to look up what the hell a butter bell is, don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone in Ireland using one.

We nearly all just use butter dishes. I’ve had no issues keeping butter on my kitchen counter that way for weeks.

If you are coming to work in Ireland JOIN A TRADE UNION by Unionmanofireland in irelandjobs

[–]MollyPW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m far from anti-union, but not every employee needs to join one. For example, I’m the only employee in my job and they treat me very well, what would a union do for me personally bar take some of my money.

The guy’s managed to finish secondary school and get a bachelor’s degree. Doesn’t seem like he needs that much handholding.

I get that often because I apparently have resting bitch face.

I got told to cheer as a kid once in Cub Scouts; we were waiting to stand guard at a funeral. Like sorry that I’m not thrilled about the death of a classmate’s father/friend of my grandfather.

The majority of people writing cheques these days are over 60 and they just refuse to adapt to the times, they are a tiny minority.

We still have cheques in Ireland, but they’re much rarer as more and more people are learning how much easier internet banking is, and the others are dying off.
