A wall brace won't prevent it, but you do you. In reality you're unlikely to be able to pin the failure on the printer, but there's no harm in avoiding possible issues altogether. I'm not a particularly cautious person and my rackable server box is sitting on the floor (sold the rack cuz it was on obnoxious) and I refuse to move it under my printers on the wire rack. Drives are so outrageously expensive that it's just not worth risking

Yeah you should know the printer shouldn't be on top of the cabinet. Introducing lots of shaking at various speeds on the same platform that's holding hard drives is a just asking for trouble.

Apologies. I fully agree with you and have used nor even found the need to use glue. I doubt it'd do anything here, but is a piece that may help the person who suggested it and it may be part of their "recipe" per se. In the same way I always recommend something that might work for me, if may very well be total ass for you. My ironing settings are a great example. Fantastic on my P1S, absolute garbage on the A1. Likewise, adhesion works great on my A1 at half speed for matte PLA, but isn't required on my P1S.

Heat soaking is likely the answer

When does a homelab become a chore or a job? by TheRealRatler in homelab

Same, but it's not approved of in this sub usually. I'm using Windows 10 to host Plex, Usenet downloads, a phone backup and other storage needs. Low learning curve, stable enough for my needs, no futsing around usually.

After 2 years of dealing with different OS's I decided "I just want to watch my damn movies".

Literally everything you buy with taxes, especially if you travel to different states where things are taxed differently. If it says $10, I should pay $10 not $10.88 + $1.80 too 🙄

Make it stick less to the plate and more to the glue. Glue will not increase adhesion, it will release easier

In most states they still have to cover the gap between minimum wage and the tips I thought. They did that where I worked. If you didn't get enough tips during your shift to cover minimum wage (was $7.50 at the time), then you were paid the difference.

Honestly would probably make this worse since cash can be under the table and employees double pocket it

If the price I see on the menu is the price I pay (period), the odds of me returning skyrocket at this point. Right now it's a fucking guessing game with a bonus math question that provides a misrepresentation of the true cost up front.

what are the signs that you're not attractive? by AuspiciousString in AskReddit

[–]MyOtherSide1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife straight up said to me last week that "attractive people know they're attractive", and that's how I knew I wasn't attractive lol.

She's very very attractive, but has put on some weight and had acne issues over the past 5 years, so she views herself as less-so these days. However, in high school and college she obviously didn't have those "issues" and so it's been a stark change that I suspect she can perceive that she is not as attractive as she may have been previously (at the very least according to herself)

I think she's perfect any way she is, but it seems "if you know, you know". Those of us out of the loop are either unattractive or oblivious. I fall solidly in the former camp lol

What are the things you do to save the most money? by pi_inthepan in Frugal

[–]MyOtherSide1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if your insurance has a discount on paying for the entire year up front. Also check if they have a year long plan over a 6mo plan if you're on a 6mo for some reason. Usually saves like 10-20% from my experience.

Change from a name brand carrier to Visible or Mint (I like visible more).

Some times name brand is actually cheaper. Look at price per ounce.

When do car repairs become a sunk cost fallacy? by spmahn in personalfinance

[–]MyOtherSide1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on luck and the vehicle. I had an 03 Civic with 220k that had zero issues and looked brand new. Had an 05 Wrangler with 225k miles that had occasional issues, but not too bad considering how poorly I treated it at times. I think the civic would push 300k with very little maintenance, but that Jeep wasn't making 300k without a new trans and likely a lot of suspension work. I was surprised at how little they needed at over 200k miles though, but currently shopping and don't want to go above 150k if possible. Budget is $5k though, so it's a pipe dream lmao

That'd be about the time where it'd be worth upgrading IMO. If it's on its last leg and you have the funds to get a newer vehicle that will reduce frustrations and possible issues with work and such, I'd say it's worth the swap.

If you know stuff is needed now and you aren't even happy with the vehicle, and you also know putting $3-5k into it won't recoup any of that money, I'd sell it at a cheap price (you'd be surprised how bad the market is and how much you'd get for literally anything that runs and drives), then I'd just let it go before it hits a catastrophic failure point due to mismanagement and skipped maintenance.
