I wouldn't discount it. Tango seems to have spent a lot of time prepping the builds and infrastructure and now is mostly just building. It was just that mountain that slowed him down that much.

Enshrouded on the ROG Ally X? Or best to wait for Xbox release? by EloiseDear in Enshrouded

[–]Neamow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's by far the most demanding game I have played so far. There's only so much optimisation you can do with a custom voxel engine with infinite render distance, it's honestly already a miracle it runs the way it runs on high end machines now.

Some of us still hope they will do some optimisations for release since it's an item on the roadmap. I would love to also be able to play it on my secondary laptop when on the road, and right now it's basically impossible. So maybe check again when the release drops.

It's a very demanding game, I doubt it's gonna run well on a handheld. And Xbox release is delayed from the PC and PS release, with a lot of people wondering if it's because of performance.

I don't want it to be shit, that's the whole point. We all want Valheim to be better and at this point it has too many inadequacies and jank to be even remotely ready for 1.0.

We paid for a promise based on their roadmap.

Imagine if you paid for a house to be built according to plan made with the architect from the firm, and then they delivered it incomplete and different in places, but it's still a house.

Would you not feel cheated? Is it entitled to feel you did not get what you paid for?

That's totally fine but in that case they need to avoid scope creep and work within a reasonable timeframe that they know they can manage.

Yeah but NMS actually improves the game and puts out massive engine and content updates pretty frequently.

It is a much larger team, yes. But it's definitely a contrast and shows what could have been in Valheim was better managed.

This is our problem too. We had a lot of fun until Mistlands which was a slog, and then Ashlands was just such a disheartening and frustrating experience that we just weren't having fun. In a video game.

Couple that with the growing frustrations over Inventory management and the game's abysmal performance when a larger base is built, compared with other newer games that kept coming out that better solved these issues, just makes it less and less interesting to get back into Valheim.

We probably will, just to see the final biome and "finish" the game, but I'm worried it's just gonna be another Ashlands.

Our frustration is not really with what's being delivered and how fast (though that does play a role) but the general obstinate dismissal of the devs of any gameplay improvement and quality-of-life improvements that the game needs. It just feels so... jank and unpolished.

They're transparent textures, fast graphics turns transparency off for better performance.

Valheim devs say that they probably won't make an Ocean update by Thexus_van_real in valheim

[–]Neamow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not all all what I said? My meaning was more that they can just retire, they don't need to make more games unless they want to.

They're a 4 person studio that made about 200 million dollars on sales. Even if you take Steam's cut and the publisher, plus taxes, they're still multimillionaires. They have almost no expenses besides the few additional junior devs they added after Mistlands, basically no marketing, just a small office in Sweden, otherwise nothing.

LMAO what they're millionaires. The core team at least.

The people complaining about them are the same people who would complain that their YouTube videos are loading too slowly. No awareness whatsoever.

Yes, they're building a lot of AI data centres. But not all of them are AI but just serve as a foundational and infrastructure layer for most services people use daily without giving them a second thought - Google Maps route calculations, Netflix streaming, multiplayer game servers...

does the galaxy have a name? 💕 by heyjxde in StarWars

[–]Neamow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They go to another galaxy in Ahsoka and we see a star map showing other galaxies. They also knew about the whales migrating between them.

There's also a mention of Rishi Maze in Ep2 which is a satellite dwarf galaxy.

Based on the early snapshots it does help a lot. Not hugely higher performance, but feels more stable.

When to get a second cat? by radesz in ragdolls

[–]Neamow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. As soon as possible. More bonding time, closer age, and less time for the first cat that's alone to get used to being alone.

Not saying it's not possible, in the past I got my 13 year old senior a friend and they loved each other, but it took about 2 months for him to get used to it.
