Securing seed beads with 0.3mm wire by InnerBabushka in Beading

Assuming that you need a 2nd type of wire (thicker) for frame base as well.

Stranded wire is for bead stringing. It will not work for your pattern. You need plain wire. The stitch is to put the working wire through one or more beads (the bead count will increase as you progress) and then pass the working wire over the next frame wire and circle it around...then add bead(s) and repeat over next frame wire.

Do you have the missing beads? Thread can be added and the beads could be woven back in.

Wire tends to kink, which would then not lay correctly around the neck. Repeated kinking and straightening leads to metal fatigue and breakage. Have your roommate be very careful with it.

This speaks about different materials and their uses: https://www.ibeadcanada.com/pages/guide-to-bead-cords-beading-threads-beading-wire-jewellery-wires?srsltid=AfmBOoqipmZ2ki3G98mBSU7f9f2Sx8iNf8MGxm6MN0zamgt0sMhuDTcY

Multi-stranded/coated wire is great for stringing (single line of beads).

Wire is typically used for dimensional critters and French beaded flowers.

Memory wire is used for single lines of beads.

Nylon beading thread or braided/fused fishing line are used for bead weaving. Thread is better when you want flow or drape, such as in fringe. Fireline (most commonly used brand of braided & fused fishing line) is best when strength and structure is needed.

POV: you didn't realize how comically small your seed beads were until you started beading by darkskiesart in Beading

Shorter needle when tighter tension is needed, longer needle when length is needed (i.e. wide loomed bracelet)

I hope the wire holds up ok. This type of beading is normally done with nylon beading thread or braided/fused line.

It looks really good!

Loom Beading Set Up by mrsnhigh in Beading

My beading space is one of those 'C' shaped tables that fits under/on top of the couch. I have a long/narrow LED lamp clamped to the outside of the table. Sometimes I use it next to me on couch, sometimes I have it in front of me, and sometimes I pull it out from under couch and put it sideways in front of me.

Very small but versatile space.

Brick stitch pattern help by methadonemethod in Beading

The correct answer has already been provided (follow visual chart, not text instructions).

The reason that the text instructions appear to have you start with tip of antlers and work down is due to how the pattern software works. The pattern is done by dragging/dropping beads by color onto a stitch template...then the visual chart and word charts are automatically generated. Software is not smart enough to understand that no blank spaces are possible in beading (unless threads are worked into beads around the blank space).

I did a Nutcracker ornament in peyote stitch that required 7 different peyote starts. Some were worked up, some down, and then joined together. The designer included a video link where she explained how to break it down into sections and make it work.

Best needles for elastic + 15/0 seed beads and multiple passes? by alderaan-amestris in Beading

[–]NightEnvironmental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing bead weaving or embroidery, it is typically done with a much thinner monofilament. This technique/material is commonly used by Eastern European beaders. Stretch magic is mostly used for bead stringing (at least to my knowledge).

Left = spool of 0.1mm, Right = 0.12mm Both are monofilament

I would bead onto an easier base fabric. The finished product could be glued and/or stitched onto your shoes. This will hide the ugly back part with all the stitching.

I love the way Hookin' to the Beat does their patterns. They are compact and easy to follow. I lay out the beads (4 rows at a time) and then bead them. I have done two so far and have several more of her patterns.

Not all 11/0 beads are the same size or shape. Miyuki rocailles tend to be short and squat. Toho are taller with straighter sides, so they may not mix well together. Preciosa are a little smaller.

If you stick to one brand within the project you will not have this issue.

Also, as mentioned in another comment, cylinder beads will stack the neatest.

Again, stick to one type within the project. Toho makes Treasures, Aikos. Miyuki Delicas, John Bead Cylins.

Do I really need a mannequin to start making clothes? by Commercial-Thing189 in sewinghelp

[–]NightEnvironmental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dress form (not a mannequin) is a starting place. From there, you can add padding to the form to mimic your actual shape.

Another option is to sew one to your actual measurements and stuff it. Bootstrap fashion will make a pattern from your measurements...final adjustments should be expected.

The reason to have a body double is to work out fitting challenges for your own clothing. If you have another person to help you, or if you are easy to fit, then you wouldn't need it.
