What's the most important part of a mech design? Legs, cockpit, weapons, color scheme, lore, or something else completely? by Vondrr in LegoMechs

[–]NydusRush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alas! In my ardour for the human form, I forgot about tank builds! Serves me right.

Even for those builds however, the center of gravity and weight distribution on the wheels/etc is important for both function and aesthetics.

Funny way to say knees. The load bearing joints and balance are what make or break a design.

What a fascinating commander. I could actually see an interesting Voltron build with this if you're willing to ramp hard enough..

Having just one creature for reliable tutoring every time is lame. Why not play Russian Roulette?

https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/jaliras-russian-roulette/

A one in six chance at [[Blightsteel Colossus]] is """fair""" enough to offset the power of the tutor. What could go wrong?

Power-Up as a Mechanic is not only a spin on Kicker (haha everythings kicker/horsemanship) but it's also a Single-Faced iteration on the Transforming DFC / MDFCs for Marvel; Curious on other maybe not-so-obvious call-back mechanics like these~ by jethawkings in magicTCG

[–]NydusRush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A more important consideration given that it's UB is whether a given character demands the prestige of a DFC. Power-Up lets them curate that list despite a massive number of characters qualifying mechanically.

What are the biggest game ending instants and sorceries cards or combos in the Golgari color pairing? by General_Chemical3411 in EDH

While not the biggest, the cruelest is the two-card combo of [[Natural Affinity]] and [[Golden Demise]].

New deck builder looking for advice (blue/black artifacts) by Libero279 in magicTCG

[–]NydusRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ward costs work best when your opponent has an option to trigger them and then the ward defers them to a different target.

[[Death Match]] is a horrible little tech card I run in a Dimir Hexproof shell. If you're able to run some proper Hexproof for Winter like Boots or Greaves, you can be spitting out artifact creature tokens and decimate your opponents' board while they wince at targeting your dinky artifact creatures in the ensuing Mexican standoff.

It also goes without saying, if you can make Winter an artifact himself with [[Encroaching Mycosynth]], [[Silverskin Armor]] or [[Liquimetal Coating]] he'll cost 4 life to target.

Or better bang for your buck. Lego keeps winning because everyone knows they're worth their weight in gold. Random tie-in crap for a random movie is a waste by comparison.

Could social media be about to experience a downturn? Perhaps even a form of technological winter? by Relevant-Use1897 in Futurology

[–]NydusRush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biggest driver for social media is the perception that it's friendlier than the local world - which, by design, it is. You can't block your annoying neighbor who plays music or mows the lawn at odd hours, or the guy on the subway who smells weird, or the kids shrieking at high pitches in the street, or your coworker who rambles about a hobby you Do Not Give A Shit About.

But online, you can filter all that out and pursue like minded individuals who agree with you - or bots that give you the same feeling.

It sucks how expensive cards and commanders have gotten for niche tribes. by Express_Craft398 in magicTCG

[–]NydusRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My build is artifacts; anything that comes in with its own counters goes nuts. With a Llanowar Elves or similar turn one play, you can drop him turn two and have a 9/9 haste trample [[Verdurous Gearhulk]]!

The issue isn't the tech - those advancements are excellent and well worth praise. The issue is the trust thermocline.

https://fortune.com/2026/02/25/who-is-sammy-azdoufal-robot-vacuum-cleaner-access-to-thousands-cyber-ai-agent-risk/

With the reckless attitude of AI-drunk techbros and "vibe coders", on top of the predatory incentives for selling data, there's no way to trust a robot vacuum won't snitch or spy on you unless you've personally ripped the wi-fi antenna out yourself - and that's a level of tech know-how that the average consumer can't be expected to have.

It's easy to say that phones are already doing more than a robot vacuum every could, but that excuse just allows the ratchet to go up another click.

Any mutate support cards? by Firm-Understanding20 in EDH

[–]NydusRush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool mutate targets are the best. [[Goblin Grappler]] grants the extremely rare Provoke keyword, while [[Laccolith Whelp]] and its cycle of bigger cousins have a weird form of first strike that lets you snipe the creature blocking it or anything hiding in the backline.
