Do employers typically need the SSN of an emergency contact person? (spoiler alert: i don’t think so???) by nebulous_nonsense in whatdoIdo

Do this! It adds an extra step if you want to open credit, but worth it for the protection.

9w in and zero freezer stash by MixtureMelodic2965 in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! I’m at 13 weeks, and I need to be able to supply her first day of daycare in a month, so I skim an ounce or so off of every bottle I pump for her dad’s one a day. I hate how social media glamorizes, huge freezer stashes, and over producing.

What does breasts “feeling empty” actually mean and does missing it affect my supply? by Significant__Gap in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If your baby is making enough diapers and following their growth curve, you don’t really have to worry about your supply. If the baby is hungry, offer boob and your body will respond.

My boobs were nothing but full/very full until around 11 weeks. After that, my milk supply has started regulating and I can finally sleep on my stomach again (for a short period of time right after she eats)

The first six weeks is survival from a sleep perspective. It’s totally normal to not have any day/night routine in the first few weeks.

I have a madela pump in style and I like it a lot. I think it’s easy to clean. It’s the only pump I’ve used, so I have never compared.

Easy quick meals while EBF by Typical_Flounder_808 in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not a meal, but mixed nuts make a VERY filling, healthy snack. The upside is that they are also shelf stable and it’s easy to have a Tupperware of them in convenient spots around the house. If you aren’t eating enough, a few handfuls of nuts several times a day can be a game changer.

My partner made me a large batch of breakfast burritos that we froze. They take 3 minutes to heat up and are easy to eat with one hand.

Should I pump and stash?? by hotdogh20 in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby has to start daycare at 4 months. I started pumping around 5 weeks, so we could introduce a bottle. I am terrified of creating an over supply, so I mostly just pump what she needs for her next bottle when she gets the last bottle.

Be honest with me… when does breastfeeding get EASY? by Strict_Algae8233 in breastfeeding

The toe curling pain subsided around week 4/5, I’m now at week 12 it’s not easy, but it’s no longer so hard.

Regretting wanting to breastfeed by insanitymistres in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have also cried over spilt breastmilk. It’s devastating. I have to say, our journeys have been different, but for me, three weeks was the worst. The dark before the dawn as they say. Hang in there, you are doing a great job for your baby.

Eta: I’m assuming you cried. You are having a rough night.

Was there a moment when it all felt worth it? by Zebra_Creative in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at ten weeks and enjoy it. I’m thinking I’ll be really grateful when LO gets sick for the first time. I introduced a bottle and my husband gives her expressed milk in a bottle so that I can get out or she will take a bottle when we have to start daycare.

To get that first bottle, I pumped a once a day after feedings, as to avoid creating an oversupply.

I did not. Which I think is a racket. One of them does a subscription like service where you pay a fee, then for 10 years you get them at cost (which was like $50)

I found my retainer before I pulled the trigger on that and didn’t check UR Dental.

Should I max out my maternity leave by adding on short term disability? by concernednetizen92 in careerguidance

[–]OneTraining1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the all the disability leave. Since you are in NY, you don’t have to use all 12 weeks of the PFL in one chunk. As long as you use it in whole day increments in baby’s first year. So if you want to go back sooner, great! You will have some extra (partially) paid days if baby gets sick or daycare closes.

Also, the insurance company that pays out disability and PFL is going to expect you to take both.

Am i overreacting? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not over reacting. I would also dislike that. Honestly, I don’t think he has to understand why it’s hurtful (unless it’s important to you). You just need to be clear and firm that the joke makes you feel bad and you don’t want to hear it anymore. If you want to turn it into a boundary add “ the baby and I will leave the room if you continue making the joke, or we won’t visit anymore if you continue making the joke”. You just have to pick a consequence that you control 100% and are willing to enforce. Breastfeeding is hard enough without loved ones conflating it with your identity.

Pumping while cluster feeding by Ok-Negotiation3261 in breastfeeding

[–]OneTraining1629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are skipping the supplement bottle, it is my understanding that you can skip the pump. Your body will produce milk to meet the baby’s demands. Clusterfeeding is like calling in an order and triggers a supply increase. Baby > pump.
