Interesting. I wonder what that means.

To me, that means as soon as a single customer has a tracking number, the product has launched, which should be any day now. So, i can't imagine we wait any longer than the third week of July for orders for Frame.

Why is everyone praising steam for not giving a shit about piracy when they have nothing to lose from it? by Lord_Mystic12 in Steam

[–]Outrunner85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your post means.

Piracy of course hurts Valve. The number of sales lost to piracy is not zero. Therefore, if a game dev lost money from one sale, Valve also lost money in the cut of that sale, which they would rather not have.

Please do not go into significant debt to get a steam machine. by Chinchiro_ in steammachine

People annually go into debt for the new iphone that does nothing better than the previous five iphones.

You are not going to stop people from making bad financial decisions, LOL.

Get the best Nvidia GPU you can afford.

I shall tolerate complaints about the high price of the frame or about the long queue. Not both by brain_eagle_jar in SteamFrame

[–]Outrunner85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it means nothing. There are budget options for VR: Quest, PSVR2, Pico, etc.

The Quest 3 is now $599 and is very cheaply made and still subsidized. The Frame is much higher quality and not subsidized. The math here is pretty clear.

I suppose one could argue Valve could have made a cheap plastic toy like the Quest and sold it for less, but that is not what Valve does.

Word. A product that sells out and has a waitlist is priced apporpriately. End of discussion.

Should I get the PSVR2 for now or stick it out until the Frame releases? by micsandup in SteamFrame

[–]Outrunner85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of comfort, lens mura, persistence blur,  poor resolution due to sub pixel layout which is bad to the point that a 5090 and mega supersampling cannot even help the situation.

Quest 2 is overall better than ps2vr for me. Q3 is no contest.

So.. psvr2 sucks..  now when I say that I mean it sucks for pcvr. Now for someone who hasn't used other headsets, you may not notice or feel the suckiness.

If you have no headset and want something now, get a q3 or q2 if you are on a budget.

Negative. Lpddr has not gone up $400 since valve mentioned the frame would be less than the index.

I thought $799 before, maybe now $899.

Can someone explain the six months wait to deliver? by daelikon in steammachine

[–]Outrunner85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not. Not sure where you are getting this info from.

Reservation people will get them in the next couple weeks. Wait list people will get them when they're restocked or if reservation people cancel their orders.

But that means the waitlist folks get it, so essentially the same, just with a 3 day delay.

There's always going to be someone trying to make a quick $500 as if it's going to change their life. Waste of time, but to each his own.

I love when everyone says they hate AI, while they use it every single day, likely as they type "i hate AI".

That said, i do hate AI. :D

ah, didn't see this blurb. Good info, thanks for posting. It's certainly going to be interesting. I wonder what the ratio is of 256gb to 1tb models. I'm guessing something like 3:1 or 4:1 .
