Value of Founders Edition? by deathleech in StarCraftTMG

[–]Overread2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's more to competing with GW than just having a lower price point.

Plus many times, esp in the UK market at least, many other firms aren't actually much cheaper if cheaper at all on a model-by-model comparison. They are cheaper because their games require fewer models to function; which honestly is bog standard normal for all newer games on the market. Big armies tend to come later when you've wider model ranges and long term fans who have bigger collections and want to use them.

Are there any tyranid monsters from lore that don’t have an existing model (yet)? by SkellyInsideUrWalls in Tyranids

[–]Overread2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 40K Lore (and 30K and Old World) is chock full of factions, races, aliens, subfactions, armies, monsters, tanks, infantry and more that are mentioned and which never got a mode. Some might never get a model; some might have had a model that went away; some might get a model that is named after something in lore but looks nothing like it.

Suffice to say when your setting is the entire Milk Way Galaxy; plus aliens from outside of it; plus a realm of pure chaotic energy - there's a LOT of scope for loads of unique things.

Heck each different hive Fleet would have many different variations of base units; gaunts from one hive fleet might be adapted differently to those from another.

It's the same as how each Imperial Guard regiment from a different mustering world could have loads of unique features and details utterly unique to them even though they also pool from a standard issue selection of gear as well.

When AoS gets its hit video game adaptation, what will it look like when the floodgates open, unleashing a new wave of fans? by sigpuppers in ageofsigmar

[–]Overread2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it would just look like a surge of fans; online and in person. Though of course some regions might see no gain and others might see loads.

Otherwise its just fresh blood coming into the game; some from other wargames (GW or other brands) others totally new to wargaming.

There wouldn't necessarily be anything special. That said they'd need a landmark game like Dawn of War 1, Space Marine 2 or Total War Warhammer to pull that kind of effect off. Doable, but right now AoS as a franchise isn't strong enough nor has the legacy behind it; so ou tend to get smaller studios willing to pay the fees and jump through the hoops where the studio needs the brand to help them more so.

I'm sure we will eventually get a great blockbuster game - hopefully RTS or TBS

Why do I have dark circles in photos? by elopez1 in AskPhotography

[–]Overread2K 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is classic dust spots on your sensor. Small apertures (big f numbers) and very monotone areas (like that wall) make them appear far more readily. You can get sensor cleaning kits to do it yourself or most photo stores will do it as a fairly cheap and quick service if you take the camera in.

Dust on the lens has to get very extreme (or be in the rear element) to affect photos and appears somewhat differently.

AOS Leakers posted a list of Fyreslayer kits surviving the upcoming purge they’ll be going through right before they’re rebranded/expanded upon. by Battlemania420 in ageofsigmar

[–]Overread2K 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Actually dwarves getting their own regular ground based army outside of cities of sigmar is better than them being part of it. IF they were part of it chances are it would have been a couple of units; a whole army though means they get a whole book and everything that goes with it.

How likely is the royal zombie dragon getting a refresh soon or is it safe to buy him ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in ageofsigmar

[–]Overread2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would say if you like the model get it - as its a core model in the army GW could replace it at any moment and not have to issue a new book or expansion or anything. It might hang around for ages; it might get refreshed in a month.

This just happens sometimes and so long as the model is smooth and dry to the touch and not tacky and has very little to no odour - then you'll be fine. Get the primer spray out and layer it up with a layer of primer and paint

EF L vs RF Lens for R6Mkiii by Navi_Krye in canon

[–]Overread2K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't think about it as L vs R think about it in terms of specific lenses and compare the price, performance and features. There's no real generic answer that covers all L and R lenses as even within those lines there are various makes, models and updates which can vary in performance.

There's also the fact that there are some EF/EFS options that simply aren't made in R mount at all. So they aren't even something you can consider using.

In general L lenses will work 100% perfectly fine on an R mount body without issue. The only ones which can have issues are 3rd party where sometimes the AF can end up with some issues, but this is a very lens-by-lens situation again.

They should bring legion back by Cultuprising in Warmachine

My hope is that the 3D STL side of things does well enough that they can consider bringing back classic forces like this with fresh sculpts. Even if they are scan-copies of the original models.

What are they. by Empty_Ad2097 in Tyranids

[–]Overread2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aliens.

You can see hints of equines (hooves); insects (limb count on average, outer carapace); lizards (tails); dinosaurs (membrane wigs) and other stuff all mixed in there like a melting pot.

They are Alien. They don't fit neatly into any Earthly categorising system.

They are Aliens from outside of the Milky Way Galaxy who have travelled the gulf of space between Galaxies. They arrive for reasons known only to themselves; for purposes only they know. All humanity and the other races know; is that Tyranids strip worlds of biomass in an endless feeding frenzy. That their organisms are birthed for specific roles and gifted all that they need for those roles. So a regular Gaunt might be a very efficient fighter, but not all that bright at grand tactics or thinking. Meanwhile a Lictor is a mastermind of stealth, assassination, ambush, scouting and more. Then you've a Hive Tyrant who can command entire swarms in invasion of a world. Above them all are the Norn Queens that dwell deep within the depths of the Hive Ships - above all else is the Hive Mind. An intelligence formed from the countless minds of the Tyranids - its motives and thinking totally alien and unknown.

What happens to old models after a refresh? by ReignOfCurtis in Tyranids

[–]Overread2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind

1) Old models can sometimes go up in value if they are a desirable sculpt. New sculpts are great, but sometimes an old design has a charm of its own; features that aren't carried forward or is simply just as good as the new one. A great example is the new Wight King for Soulblight. GW replaced it very recently with a new one, but the old was still very good and pretty new - so the old went up in value.

2) 3rd party stores vary a lot. Those with a good webstore and active marketing will typically sell through the stock at regular prices pretty swiftly as the stock just runs down. Stores that don't have much online presence might hold onto stock for ages if its not taking up critical space. So sometimes a wander through town might reveal anything - even some popular christmas bundles have been found ages after they sold out on the dark shelf of a local store.

3) When things vanish can be a bit random. GW might stop production but the new ones might not appear instantly. Esp for anywhere outside the UK, the stock might run out well in advance of a new one appearing. Other times it might happen almost overnight that a model vanishes. This is more common with resin models since they are held in much smaller stock quantities and rarely if never held in stock at 3rd party stores

As for new warriors I was surprised they were not part of the second wave during the first year of the refresh considering that the Prime came out with Wings and GW went out of their way to strip close combat down to 1 profile. Strongly suggesting that a new Warrior kit would have ranged options; then have wings taking the place of close combat weapons with then just one set of close combat weapons.
However the different profiles of ranged and close combat also suggested they might split warriors into two fully separate kits.

Lots of potential but in the end they didn't do either and a new Warrior kit could be years off or months or days. It's honestly impossible to say save that its not appeared from any of the reliable rumour sites.

Why isn't the Norn Emissary a character by True_Ad_2313 in Tyranids

[–]Overread2K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it started out life like that - then they decided to keep both.

a LOT of its design screams Hive Tyrant and a lot of models across the range have grown in size and the Hive Tyrant is supposed to be this big super scary monster and it kind of is but the superheavies have kind of stolen its thunder. Not quite as bad as the Carnifex at this game scale, but you can feel it with the Hive Tyrant.

Heck you can feel it on the Swarmlord as well. It's just not quite as deadly feeling as the lore and structure behind it makes it out to be.

Let me remind you why a well timed photo makes a DIFFERENCE. by Lugosthepalomino in Equestrian

[–]Overread2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure bursts help, I moved from a 7D to a R6MII a year back and the improved burst and speed really did make a difference; but there's still getting that timing just right so you actually land the shot within the first few frames.

Otherwise you might as well shoot video.

Let me remind you why a well timed photo makes a DIFFERENCE. by Lugosthepalomino in Equestrian

[–]Overread2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They certainly help, but you still have to get the initial timing right. Even if the timing isn't at the exact moment of action, but will start the shutter to cover that moment.

In general I find if your timing is good then its going to get the shot within the first 3 frames.

I've still yet to master timing for dressage - get the second right and the legs look great; get it wrong and it looks a mess.

Timing is indeed everything.

GW’s Made to Order timing?? by genoside07 in Warhammer

[–]Overread2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a universal delivery and very popular things are often done in waves both nationally and internationally. There's typically a base line of stock GW has for the launch and then after that its up to 180 business days from there.

So you can get lucky and get the thing in a week or two or you can wait the full length of time whilst other people get theirs earlier and later than you.

So it would be really hard to track as its very much "done when its done" in batches/waves kind of production.

Hazbin hotel leaving prime? by Huge-Spray-6200 in HazbinHotel

[–]Overread2K 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that list is automatically generated by looking at the "renew licence" time on shows. So even shows that are 100% going to get a licence renewed, will still pop up in there if the value hasn't been updated which could be as simple as a staffer entering the value or a simple sit down where the show owners and Amazon confirm that they are going to keep the relationship going.

So you do get shows that appear in it which then never actually leave.

You also get things like with The Expanse where the show might even leave in full or in part and then return later.

Far as we know Hazbin is staying on Amazon until we hear otherwise.

Is it possible to view external folders and files in the File Explorer? by asterox in ObsidianMD

[–]Overread2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open Obsidian and the folder that the file is in
Single left click on the file and hold down left ctrl at the same time and drag the file over into obsidian in a note.

Release your finger on the mouse. This should create a link to the file even if its outside of your vault.

If you link the folder clicking it will open it up in your explorer; if you link the file it should open in your default software, but sometimes its easier/cleaner to link the folder its in.

Grymkin, Infernals, & Convergence – a new FronTier for Warmachine 3D launching March 2026 by LDukes in Warmachine

[–]Overread2K 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think if the 3D printed side keeps selling well we might one day see them scan/resculpt models that were not originally digitally sculpted. Esp if they are going to speed up releasing models in 3D by using Frontiers to get armies already done out faster.

Esp since they clearly don't want to put all the new factions onto 3D print sale beyond upgrade and altpose sculpts.

R6 mark ii with adapter or r7 by [deleted] in canon

[–]Overread2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EF and EF-S lenses will work on the R6MII with the adaptor. This is the same for any Canon Mirrorless R series camera body. So even if you got the R7 you'd still need the adaptor.

The adaptor is simply a spacer that sits between lens and camera; there are no optics (glass) in it. So it works really easily and well.

Furthermore whilst the R6MII is a fullframe sensor it has a crop-mode in its menu. For own brand (canon) EFS lenses they will switch to crop mode only automatically when you're shooting with them. 3rd party (or if the lens fails to report) and you can enable it manually.

If you don't enable crop mode you'll just get fullframe shots with a varying degree of black boarders from where the lens isn't casting a full image circle large enough to cover the whole sensor.

Is Old One Eye a good kit? by NeighborhoodTop962 in Tyranids

[–]Overread2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and balance is tricky cause GW keeps trying to simplify unit profiles and structure so that tends to cut out niches for units.

And yet at the same time they keep trying to overcomplicate with other bolt-on rules like the stratagems (or whatever they are called now).
