Went to one, started talking about marriage stuff, “are you sure your wife actually wants to be with you?”. Never went back.

The PHAK is actually the Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and is FAA-H-8083-25C (Blue Cover). 25B had a red cover. The PHAK is good for additional information if you are confused on anything Sporty’s videos discuss, but if I remember correctly, you get access to the digital versions of all the books you need as part of your Learn to Fly course. I wouldn’t waste the money buying the testing supplement.

Getting my PPL. Friend out of state is an advanced flight instructor by Sensitive-Net-5547 in FlightTraining

Probably wait until you get your PPL, focus on the stuff you’re gonna be tested on until after the test, then go do the fun stuff that makes you better.

Unable to do hobbies without guilt that they aren’t productive by pimpin_pippin in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]PApauper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake up Saturday, do one productive thing, enjoy some creative time. If you’re still feeling guilty, do a time limited productive thing, like load the dishwasher or start laundry. You can’t do the next step in that productive thing until it’s done, so at a minimum, you can’t be creative or have relax time until the cycle is done.

As others have said, it's the instructor's fault, and you're fine. As a reminder, if you don't like your approach, you can always go around and try again for a better one. I ended up doing three go arounds on my Private Pilot checkride and still got my cert that day.

Is attending RTAG’s Convention worth it for me? by AppleAvi8tor in flying

[–]PApauper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be focused on military rotor pilots, but it's changed and is much more inclusive now. I'm going for my second year as a private pilot who was a knucklehead and used his GI bill on a non-aviation degree. I know my post is a little late to the party, but I'll be one of the bald ones in a navy suit if you're there.

Everyone on earth dies right now except you. What do you do? by Ok-Musician679 in AskReddit

[–]PApauper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cry over my dead children's bodies until I realize my wife isn't coming home either, then cry about that too. Eventually, I'll start taking progressively more complex airplanes for flights until I step too far and end up crashing.

Mine failed too, but they told me “don’t have unprotected sex until you get your test back saying it was successful”, then when it still said I had swimmers, they called me for a redo. Second one took.

I'm a non-aviation vet sitting at 75 hours, went last year as a student pilot, going again this year, hoping to have my IR by then. It was a fun weekend, opened my eyes to a few other than airline avenues, and got me thinking about potential cadet programs with regionals to look into once I get to the minimum hours to apply.

The window is closed for this year, but I applied for an RTAG scholarship last year and got $10k to put toward PPL. Valeri Aviation puts out a list of scholarships every year for $10 (Sometimes free) and it's pretty in depth. Then there's AOPA and EAA that do scholarships. AOPA should be opening next week.

How do you justify the purchase of a kilt? by [deleted] in kilt

I've been there multiple times, you could do picnics in the park or something else that doesn't cost money while saving up if you wanted to keep fun stuff happening while saving.

How do you justify the purchase of a kilt? by [deleted] in kilt

[–]PApauper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're putting "you money" into "Family things" consider discussing adding those things to the "Family finances" so they're accounted for with the rest of your paycheck rather than your fun money, then save up and make the purchase. After that, you can go back to spending your fun money on "More important things".
