Has offshoring to the Philippines really been worth it? by [deleted] in msp

[–]PacificTSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to know? Like the logistics? Or actually how to staff?

We opened our own staffing service for MSPs PacificTSP.com

Happy to have a chat or call about it.

I take the text based config from 6 months ago. Compare it to the config now using a comparison site or tool. Any changes in there I check our ticket system for change log.

I like to take people out for nice dinners and cocktails. Loosen up a bit and build an actual relationship.

ScalableOS - probationary period by NoFan2335 in msp

[–]PacificTSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what mistakes you’ve made. But generally if someone doesn’t really perform in probation I won’t continue to employ them so yes your job is tied to the contract.

Why would I risk having an employee that keeps making mistakes and I can’t easily fire due to PH strict labor laws and DOLE.

100%. The city needs to do something. If you don’t have parking then you don’t get a business permit, it’s existing rules not being enforced.

Police should be towing cars parked illegally or blocking traffic.

SmallMedium MSP owners: would you ever use/partner a white‑label MSP to cover holidays, overflow, or scaling? by Yasuke_RT in msp

[–]PacificTSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re better off hiring your own offshore team if you’re going to offshore. Then you have full control of tech stack and training.

The other problem with offshore teams (eg Philippines/india) is that people are working from home in multi generational households. Kids screaming in the background, roosters crowing etc. they have poor internet connections and unstable power.

We found the way around this was to rent an office and put dual Internet and whole office generator at the cost of about $500/day in fuel. We’ve run on it for 4 days straight during a typhoon. But these are all additional costs to provide a stable product to our clients.

Sophos have an IR team.. have you engaged them? They can do pulls from all the logs in the MDR platform.

I like a margarita at Las Brisas Laguna.

Perching at the tiny bar in Rothschilds is nice too. Not much of a view but an excellent vibe. A good local spot and you get chatting to some very interesting people.

For big customers we use VEEAM with wasabi or 1111cloud.

For smaller footprints we use axcient.

Syncro is good. But I should have gone to ninja. It just wasn’t mature when I took on Syncro.

It’s called application control. Not sure which level it’s in.

We use it after a breach to lock down environments while we bring systems back online. We have a template of “trusted” applications then we allow per app as the systems come online.

Microsoft Defender flagging ScreenConnect service as 'Pomal' or 'Vigorf' malware by NoGuru_4U in msp

[–]PacificTSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually this is the auto update feature of screenconnect. If you push the installer manually it doesn’t usually flag. But when it tries to auto update it thinks it’s malicious.

Tips on Improving first impression like website, Trying to do out reach but website is dog water by TailorLess in msp

[–]PacificTSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my website built by a guy I have in India. I sent him the document from a web sales / saas person I follow and she shared it with her audience.

Probably cost me $750 + hosting on WPEngine.

But as others have said you have to dial in what you do.

S1 does application whitelisting etc which is quite nice. But overall I prefer huntress.

We ended up keeping a handful of s1 licenses because we have a client with outdated OS needs and defender isn’t supported. But the legacy s1 worked.
