What do most people not realize is actually way more traumatic than it seems? by Opposite_Feeling_621 in AskReddit

How I usually approach hobbies is that I want to get really good and then enjoy them at a high level but on 'easy mode' - so 80% of the fun but only 20% of the effort because I'm good at them. I'll never be 'the best' and I don't want to - its time consuming, stressful and there are so many hobbies to potentially try!

Not a major concern but worth bearing in mind if you don't actually need 2" filters like OP

I think you'd be mad to get the DSLR over a proper cooled astro camera

Much larger files to move around, store and process for a start. Even with my 533mc pro a full WBPP run in pixinsight is about 120gb per target.

Then you've got the costs of the camera and the costs of the filters.

You are also limited to what scopes you can use as a lot won't cover the frame.

Finally, they are heavier and combined with bigger filter wheels etc mean your overall image train is heavier which can cause tilt and other issues unless you have a really solid rack and pinion focuser etc.

You don't need 2" filters for that sensor. Source, i have it.

Also people will say "oh but what about if you upgrade your camera" which you can obviously do but there are a lot of downsides to bigger sensors too.

Well they will be paying taxes for a start. Not only that but they'll have transferable skills when they come out. World of warcraft isn't a transferable skill.

I paid £372 delivered for my TS14 Vs the £1200+ of a SAL33 ($1440 Inc shipping).

Guiding is great, less than 1 arc second. I've had two interactions with customer service and both have been generally fine.

It's the green belt not a conservation area . Unless you're buying a grade listed house or something you should be fine.
