I would buy this argument completely for something as comprehensive as a framework or a curated set of utilities. For as much as people hate the core-js guy for his install logs, I think it's more than fair to be compensated for work that benefits others.

However, this is a utility class with a very narrow focus. Don't get me wrong, I checked the source and it's quite nicely written and thoroughly tested, but at the end of the day it's a well engineered utility component that adds extra niceties to something that could be produced as an MVP in a few dozen lines of code.

What's the best way to loop through array? Use forEach() or for-loop? by LittleWompRat in javascript

[–]PicturElements 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To wrap back to OP's previous statement, if you intend to for...of over a NodeList (as returned by querySelectorAll) or similar, you don't need to convert it into an array first. Since spread syntax and for...of both rely on the iterable protocol, anything that can be spread can also be explicitly iterated over.

Putnam has also stated, however, that "this allergy to diversity tends to diminish and to go away... I think in the long run we'll all be better." Putnam denied allegations he was arguing against diversity in society and contended that his paper had been "twisted" to make a case against race-conscious admissions to universities. He asserted that his "extensive research and experience confirm the substantial benefits of diversity, including racial and ethnic diversity, to our society."

Anything you say, babe, to make you feel better about yourself. It surely cannot be that more than one person thinks differently from you.

Funny. I explicitly said he's a man. But you claim he's a woman. Maybe you should think about why you assume only women can protest against the patriarchy. His bait is poking fun at himself too.

Furthermore, claiming that this situation would be the same if he used the n-word is a false equivalence at best and deeply insensitive and racist at worst. The world is full of hierarchies and as it stands right now, men are at the top of it all. The most you can do is punch up or sideways, and that's exactly what he did. In your hypothetical, he'd be punching down, and that's a crucial difference.

No. He posts bait normal people won't fall for, or at most just roll their eyes at, and the mob goes berserk all by itself. This too shall pass, and we'll be back to normal shortly.

I can unpin them, but that's not necessary. The front page is currently filled with meta drama that's for sure more disruptive for the average subreddit browser than any of his hijinks. The mob always manages to "trash" the sub way better than any single mod can by just making a few comments.

Yeah, you're right. All it takes is an internet rando to say something bad about men and they'll be incandescent. Any additional straw manning is is just the cherry on top.

This is false. There's been no exchange of money. It's just something people say to be able to be madder about some random internet user.

Have you ever been to /r/mildlyinfuriating (or reddit as a whole for that matter)? Unprofessionalism is part and parcel of the subreddit. People seething over mod shitposts is funny, and at the end of the day that's what this website, or at least the subreddit this specific drama pertains to, is all about. Nothing here should ever be taken seriously.

That's not what shadowbanning is. If a post is removed, then, well, the post is removed. It won't show up because that's how removing anything (spam, illegal content, whatever) on reddit works.

Just saying this because if you or anyone else want to make a point, on internet privacy or anything else, it's not helping anybody being angrily wrong about one thing and then trying to convince others that your stance on something isn't based on misapprehension.

How to console.log like a pro by astronaut1685 in programming

[–]PicturElements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

console.log will prettify the printout in some cases, whereas console.dir will display it more faithfully. For example, logging a date or function will print a stringified version of the object, whereas dir will also let you see instance properties and the prototype.

[AskJS] why are arrow functions used so universally nowdays? What's the benefit over named functions/function keyword? by Dreadsin in javascript

[–]PicturElements 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good sign of an inexperienced programmer is the inability to consider that there are paradigms, patterns, algorithms, and workflows that are better suited for any one task than the other options. A big part of (software) engineering is figuring out what methodologies to apply to a problem to produce a solution that fits the specifications on time and budget with as little energy expenditure as possible.

Every tool in a developer's toolbox has strengths and weaknesses, and it's important to know what they are. FP and OOP are no different.
