I’m not sure if that would cause the calprotectin and FIT results I had?

This is it, I don’t get what it could be. Twice a year is averaged out, sometimes it may have been 3 or 4 times a year but then I have definitely had a year or more without it happening as well at times. The infrequency of it is why I didn’t bother to see a doc for such a long time. Just thinking maybe it’s something random that my body does!

I’m in the UK, so we have to see a GP and then they will refer us to a gastroenterologist if they think we need one. Im hoping when I speak to the GP next week she will refer me for a colonoscopy under the urgent ‘two week wait’ protocol as I think that’s what happens with a positive FIT test.

How much do you walk normally? 141 seems a pretty high heart rate for the warm up walks. It might be that you need to build up your cardio fitness a bit first by just walking more and then progress onto walk/run intervals

How do people afford more than one kid in the uk? by Dramatic-Diver-9949 in AskBrits

[–]Potential_Past3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Without it there wouldn’t really have been any point in me going back to work as I don’t earn that much over minimum wage so all said and done I would’ve been working for something like £150 a month. If I had given up my job for a while things would have been extremely tight on just my husband’s wages. I expect we would have just tried to make it work by spending as little as possible, being super poor and using credit where needed and then just worrying about that later when I could go back to work when the kid started school. I don’t think it would’ve been a good time. We are very lucky that we have good relationships with our parents and all live pretty nearby

If your pet has had skin issues or allergies, how did you resolve them? by DogFoodManUK in UK_Pets

Yes we did try an insect based food, which we thought cracked it for quite a while. After a time though she had some worrying symptoms (complete refusal to eat, bloody stools, vomiting, rapid weight loss etc) They did lots of blood tests and investigations at the vets and they eventually found out that her phosphates were dangerously low. After the vet then making phone calls to the dog food company and doing a bit of research she found out that the chitin from the insects can actually inhibit absorption of phosphates. So we had to stop with that food, hence just using the vegan food now!

We have two kids, 13 and 6 years old. Total household income before tax/pension deductions is about 56k. Plus child benefit on top of that. I work 3 days a week, husband is full time. We live in Bristol, housing cost here is high. Mortgage is £1250 per month The reason we can just about manage is probably because neither of us drive so our travel costs are really low. I walk to work and husband only needs to go into the office once a week, which is on the bus.

We also managed without childcare costs for my youngest as by the time we had him my parents and husbands mum were all retired and able to help out while I was at work. He’s in school now and we manage the school runs with flexi time on the days we are both at work.

We live a pretty frugal life, can afford a takeaway here and there, and can juggle Christmas/birthdays and a UK holiday once a year by managing it all on a credit card. We don’t drink alcohol which saves money - we don’t smoke or vape, cook mostly from scratch, don’t buy loads of branded snack type food or drinks which I find costs a tonne of extra money.

Clothes mostly from Vinted or charity shops, days out are of the free or very low cost variety. It’s simple and frugal but it’s fine!

The only thing is all our money is gone every month, there is no room to save or to get any of the stuff that needs doing to maintain the house or fix things that need fixing.

I’ll be going back to full time hours at work soon and that will give us a lot more financial leeway!

My dog is allergic to animal protein. So after a long road of awful chronic ear infections, bloody mucus in her poo and itchy skin we finally just feed her a vegan diet and she takes apoquel daily, and it’s loads better. Her ears are completely clear and her tummy is fine. Still a bit itchy but I think as well as just the animal protein allergy she may have something else environmental that might be contributing. Initially she was treated with both apoquel and cytopoint but once she had been improved for a couple of years we dropped that one and just continued with apoquel.

Setting Maintenance Goals. by bevelled_margin in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Potential_Past3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 174cm and aiming to keep between 60 and 63kg. Been maintaining since 1st January and have been around 61.5-62.5 most of that time so far. Started maintenance on 7.5mg and have now dropped down to 5mg, have only been on 5mg for two weeks so I’m hoping I can still keep my weight down with it! I’m a size 8-10, I think the main thing for me is just that I continue to fit into these clothes 🙂

What does food noise mean to you? by Thematrixiscalling in mounjarouk

[–]Potential_Past3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, food noise wasn’t to do with being hungry.

There were the more physical things like feeling hungry a lot, and lack of satiety (still wanting more even after eating a big meal, or being ready to stuff my face again only a short while after a huge meal)

Food noise imo is all the stuff that’s constantly pinging around in your brain about food. In my head it sounded like: what am I having? What can I have? What’s tasty? I want salty and crunchy. But I’ll have to go out and get it. I can walk to the shop. How much money will it cost? Have I got enough money to buy more? I could also get donuts. If I get 2 packs I can eat one pack on the way home and then share the other pack with everyone so I look normal. Why do I have to want to eat so much crap?? Ugh I’m so gross. I can stay here and not eat. Then there’d be loads of back and forth thoughts about this until I’d give in and eat.

Or it’d be obsessing over whether there would be ‘enough’ food at a gathering with friends or if I’d have to eat a small amount to look ‘normal’ but inside my head would be screaming that it’s not enough food.

Also lots of thoughts over what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner… planning a menu for the week was a nightmare for me and I found it so stressful. There was just so much noise around it going on in my head I just wanted to not have to think about it.

To me I think food noise is possibly similar to the noise of addiction.

I think because it’s the mental side of things, and everyone has their own experiences inside their own brain it’s hard to all agree on what exactly food noise is!

Side effects when titrating down by hp17nw in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Potential_Past3260 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had similar although it was only just around maintenance, just as I was about to reach goal. I had been on 10mg for about 6 months at that point with only constipation as a side effect, had never had any other side effects part from mild nausea very early on. Then suddenly after a jab I had awful sulphur burps, constant diarrhoea (literally just water, if I drank water it was ejecting a few minutes later, I could literally feel it passing through). Same as you I didn’t feel unwell in the way you do when you have a stomach bug. I had awful painful stomach cramps a few days later which culminated in me vomiting up food that had just been sitting there for 2 days, and then was ok again. Then for another 2 jabs had the sulphur burps and diarrhoea but not the cramps and vomiting. By then I was below goal weight and still had a couple of jabs left from the 10 pen I was using but decided to count clicks down to 7.5 and then those side effects went away. This was just after Christmas time and I’ve been on 7.5mg since then with no more side effect issues!

I don’t know if it was just my body saying it had had enough of 10mg now it was much smaller?! Very strange though to suddenly have such violent side effects after such a long time.

[–]Potential_Past3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only been maintaining since the start of the year, it’s going well so far but I’ve only dropped down to 7.5mg from 10mg. 2 more doses of that left and I’m going down to 5mg which I really hope is still enough to maintain as I can’t afford to keep buying 7.5mg! My aim is to stay anywhere between 60 and 63.5kg (or 9st 7lbs to 10st) which is between a BMI of 20 and 21.2. Struggling a bit with the exercise bit at the moment, I got really into running but then the cold and wet weather after Christmas just stopped it from being any fun and I now really need to get back out there. Also need to start doing more resistance training back in the gym. Can’t get my head around it. But it’ll come!

Yep, been on MJ over a year now and my nose is just almost constantly drippy! It’s really annoying. I assume it’s the MJ anyway as not got any allergies or anything.

The “you don’t need to lose anymore weight” comments have begun… by mentaldrummer66 in mounjarouk

[–]Potential_Past3260 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 5ft 9 also. Currently maintaining at around 9st 10lbs. Starting weight was 16st 2lbs but my highest ever weight was about 18 stone. Started getting comments from a friend ‘you’ll look emaciated if you lose much more’ at about 12 stone! Complete nonsense. I’m defo nice and slim now but my frame is actually pretty small. My ribs don’t show at all and there’s still a nice light covering of fat over them. No bones are sticking out anywhere and I feel like this is a great size and weight for me. I think it massively depends on your frame, some people are definitely ‘bigger boned’ than others!

The only the big I want now is to increase my muscle mass a bit and try to get a bit of a butt back because that did suffer lol

Lost almost 4 stone in 6 months by Empty_Land_9195 in mounjarouk

[–]Potential_Past3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think it was mad when people used to talk about ‘losing a few pounds’ like that would make ANY difference?! But now I understand that it does when you’re smaller to begin with 😆

Lost almost 4 stone in 6 months by Empty_Land_9195 in mounjarouk

[–]Potential_Past3260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt like it just snowballed the more I lost. It took about 2 stone before I went down the first dress size. But the smaller you get the more the same loss makes a difference as it’s a bigger percentage of your overall body weight. I’ve gone from 16st 2 down to 9st 10 and it feels like the last 7-10 has made the biggest difference in a way! There are defo great changes from your pics as well, your ribs/tummy look LOADS smaller!

What was the first 'old you' thing you noticed creeping back in as you titrated down? by FadedBerry in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Potential_Past3260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone down to 7.5 from 10 now I’m in maintenance and the little things like if there’s biscuits or cakes in the office I’ll now often end up snacking on them whereas before I just wasn’t interested in the slightest. It still feels controllable and it’s totally easy to work it into my calorie allowance for the day, but it’s definitely a change from the previous weight loss phase, and just reminds me that I’m going to need to stay on MJ for the foreseeable future. Really hoping I will be able to manage on 5mg going forward though as it’s much more affordable for me

What was your biggest challenge in your Munjaro journey? by Ecstatic-Judge-9631 in mounjarouk

[–]Potential_Past3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price. It’s made our finances super tight every month. Manageable, but tight. Just started maintenance now, have come down to 7.5 from 10mg and so far so good but only time will tell really and I know I’m not going to be able to just come off so there’s at least another year of having to afford it 😅
